  1. Poor bloke. Three years at Aston Villa. What on earth did he do to suffer such purgatory...
  2. Budzik has managed a couple of nice, accurate long passes. Still finding his range I think.
  3. Cavallo looking useful, a couple of good raids, one almost leading to a goal.
  4. Let's hope our defence is better organised than the venue... At least it's warmer than Ballarat last year.
  5. If not under CFG we wouldn't have the budget for big names. I'd rather have big players than big names. CFG's strategy makes sense. I'd rather pay for substance than brand.
  6. Clubs in the UK bring in loan players all the time. Admittedly distance will be an issue, but there are always plenty of players not getting a game for whatever reason. And don't forget that for many, Australia is a genuinely exciting, once in a lifetime destination, and they will see the CFG connection as being able to open doors for them. I think we'll find someone who is currently warming the pine in a top league somewhere who will be keen of the opportunity.
  7. Had this thought myself. Possibly the more likely scenario?
  8. If anything, I'd like to see Tongyik played defensive mid. He's good with the ball at his feet, and can dribble and pass. His positioning needs to improve to play central defence but with Bort and Jakobsen alongside him he might work.
  9. We do need to remember that we have several players who would walk into any other team in the A league. I'd suggest for starters Bruno, Brandan, Timmy, Kilkenny, Jakobsen and Fitzy. A couple of additions, some luck with injuries and the right tactics, we are a competitive side.
  10. He was far from awful, and certainly no way as bad as his haters are making out. He certainly wasn't the worst on pitch for us.
  11. That'll be Budzik and the injury replacement for Bruno?
  12. See above. Anglo hoof ball. Ball will get snow on it.
  13. That would mirror the spanking my home town club got at Rotherham overnight, so makes sense.
  14. Very subtle. Probably subtle enough to be missed, which is why it got through, and why we must all vote for it to piss people off...
  15. Interesting take on the move. We're a long way away, but it's a good move and he's landed on his feet in a good place. In no sense is this been portrayed as an ignominious exile.
  16. In my experience DIBP couldn't find their arse with both hands, so visa problems are no surprise. If he has to wait as long as me we might get him for the start of the 18-19 season.
  17. We probably haven't sealed deals with loads of players. We just don't know. We have two specialist RBs and a CB who can play there. But some of our support have it in for the guy who is currently first choice. And even the dogs on the street know we need a number 10. It's not perfect but the sky isn't falling in either. We're probably one signing short of a full squad and our marquee striker is injured. Both can be fixed, we have an Australian international as cover for the latter...
  18. I've wished Muslim friends Eid Mubarak. Seems to me it's basic respect and civility. As for the club, it isn't affiliated to any faith, it has Muslim supporters, and CFG is ultimately owned by people from a Muslim culture. Don't see any problem with the club wishing us Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or Eid Mubarak. It's a multicultural city and our club has multicultural support.
  19. Greeting akin to Merry Christmas, relating the the Muslim festival of Eid Al Adha, which took place a couple of days ago...
  20. All guesswork, but if he had a medical last week in Manchester as we are led to believe, I'd imagine he's in the process of getting over here for a formal photocall and announcement. Maybe early next week??
