  1. Tweet from Mombaets EM: We have a few options up front. Maybe we start with Moudi again, maybe we start with Colakovski or Luna as well so we will see for tomorrow.
  2. I will point out that perhaps you overlooked the fact that they are not mutually exclusive. Or perhaps you did subconsciously but are not in harmony with your inner self.
  3. I agree, but we are not discussing why they are playing but rather if they are good enough. So as @jw1739 stated, the problem is that we have not managed to get our marquee and visa player right. So as I stated previously somewhere, we are never going to win anything having youth in our core first 11, sure give them opportunities off the pine but we should not depend on them. Genreau deserves another chance as does Metcalfe but Wales, Najjarine, and Najjar have not shown anything. Kolakovski looks quick and deserves to start ahead of Najjar tomorrow IMO.
  4. I think it is realistic. First 5 home games should be sold out where football and non-football people would attend for the novelty to see a world football megastar and in light of the fact that Melbourne embraces sport like we do. As for the other teams around the country and seeing they will only have one opportunity to see him, I think they would definitely sell out their games. Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that there would be a greater upside rather than downside to this scenario in 3 ways 1. MCFC membership 2. Promotion of the game 3. The direct and indirect financial gain for both clubs, FFA and media. I think the revenue from such a scenario would be closer to $20 million per season in total. How much would we need to pay him, $3-8 million per season? Even at 10 It still works in our favour once the wage is split between MCFC, FFA and Fox.
  5. I don't care about their age, I care about player performance, both have failed to do anything worth noting and don't deserve to be on the pitch. I am worried that you find it amusing but I don't find it amusing at all because I want us to be the best team in the league and the ingredients don't include those 2 players. Wales has had more than enough opportunities and Najjar just hasn't cut it with what I have seen. It is just a matter of time that teams exploit these weaknesses. If I was CCM I would be forcing the ball to go to Wales knowing that nothing would be created as a result, and set up for a wide counter when he inevitably turns over the ball and our defence is too narrow to defend. I hope I am proven wrong.
  6. Ibrahimovic will sell out our first 5 games at least. He would sell out every away game. Rough math and feel free to correct. Atm we get 7000 per game therefore total home game attendances for the season is about 90 000. 5 x sellout (30 000) = 150 000 Plus at least double our current crowd numbers for the rest of the season home games = 8 x 15 000 = 120 000 Total home game crowd for the season = 270 000 That's 180 000 increase. Plus Nearly every away game would be a sellout so add 150 000 for the season. Let's put a $ figure on it at $30 per attendee Revenue increases by $5.4 million for home games Away games an increase of $4.5 million So basically there is a $10 million increase per season not including merchandise and other revenue making auxiliaries. So we get him for 2 seasons and so there would be an increase in opportunity to maximise new regular attendees which would boost membership for the longer term. I think I am being quite conservative with the figures but it would be a win win for MCFC and the FFA.
  7. They looked solid last night. Hopefully we can sort out our striker situation because they looked much tighter than Wellington in defense and cancelled out Castro, Bruno and Ikonomidis which is a great effort.
  8. Exactly. It was plain to see on the replay and the refs don't know the rules because if they did then the decision wouldn't have stood. Obviously Fenton knew the rules better than those that are responsible for enforcing them. They both should be suspended without pay for incompetence.
  9. Summary of the game is that we crawled over the line against the worst team in the league. Lucky for us because at least our youth got some space. Good game for Genreau, Metcalfe to stretch their legs where they both had solid games. Good, Brilliante and Griffiths dominated the defensive middle and Jamo and Galloway were threats in attack. Noone is quality but was getting frustrated at times with the delivery and Wales poses no threat to the opposition with poor vision and disposal of the ball. Najjarine and Najjar are not very good. That last sub Colakovski looks McLaren-like and should be on the pine in the future. Congratulations to the young players Win is a win and CCM this week after their win over Perth will be a good test.
  10. Ibrahimovic, that's how. At his 1st game we would probably fill the MCG.
  11. Well my view is that if we can't score because our young players aren't good enough then they shouldn't be in our squad and we should have invested in experience. All this talk about 'we should give them more time' will inevitably stifle our rise to the top. We will see. Hope I am wrong.
  12. There is something seriously wrong with the sports sciences guys if this happens season after season.
  13. Sorry to hear JW. My sincerest condolences. May God bless and bring peace and comfort to you and your family in this time of mourning.
  14. He can just sit on a chair behind the goal and get up when the ball is in the box. Surely that's still better than Wales and Najjar.
  15. What was irritating was that afaik there was no reason to give him a yellow seeing that the handball was unintentional. I think the ref just got caught up in the moment.
  16. Agree with your whole post above except for this. You can't give any blame to Harrison for what transpired from Metcalfe's incompetence, as he did what he is meant to do, he ran in to defend the ball which is correct, did a perfect slide tackle and got the ball which is correct, the ball rebounded off the player and hit is arm which was out of his control and totally unlucky. Up to that point the CBs were dominating. Harrison and Good were doing a great job.
  17. So Metcalfe did the worst pass in the history of the world, caused us to go down to 10 men, gifted them a goal, got told off by Jamie and Jamieson multiple times because he can't pass for shit, and gave Mombaets a stroke..... But he had a solid game and should be preferred to Luna and Florin. Come on, you have to be kidding me. Genreau is miles ahead in every way and should be first choice off the pine when we get out full list fit again. Metcalfe and Najjarine both need a spell in the lower divisions because they are nowhere near ready for this league.
