  1. Sorro leads the league in saves and has earnt us plenty of points over the course. We have by far the worse defence in the league and concede chance after chance after chance. He's been a good recruit. We just beat a side who haven't lost in months and people would rather bash the keeper than celebrate! We are title contenders ffs!!
  2. Awesome, simply awesome news
  3. Berisha only had 20 goals in 7 years before moving to Brisbane. You just never know how players can turn out in the A-League. Lets see him play before being totally negative about his signing.
  4. Haven't posted here in a while (please refrain from the jokes about my username this time) As a Stoke fan I can say that Sorro is a legend of our club. One of the greatest keepers we've ever had, always felt comfortable with him inbetween the sticks, even when he's had to fill in on rare occasions over the last couple of seasons. He's not as washed up or as blunder-prone as some on here believe. He'd be a handy signing for us and his advice/coaching towards both Tando and the youth keepers at the club could be invaluable.
  5. Ahh the benefit of playing withh a hardworking front 3. First goal was a classic example of how important it is to constantly be closing down the ball carrier. GET THE FUCK IN LADS!!
  6. It sounds to me that you're judging whether or not he was a flop on whether he played to the crowds or not. Is that a decision borne from logic or from the emotions of a string of poor games? Goodness knows I've been around on forums long enough to see people make very dubious claims because they're hurting after a defeat and this is pretty minor compared to half of what I've read before, but do you really think that the difference between being a flop and being a roaring success is that you come over and mix with the fans? Remember, on top of everything else, that Villa is something of an introverted personality - he strikes me as the kind of person who is ill at ease with his fame and doesn't really like having to play to the crowds. Does that really mean he's done nothing for Melbourne City? Flopped on the field aswell, the 2 goals aside he was largely invisible in every game. His defensive work rate is just about as bad as i've seen from a player playing at such a high level. He made the club look very amateur through his stint which i'll agree is largely fault of our own but I just think his general attitude has lacked class.
  7. Why are some people justifying this blokes behaviour? He has put zero effort in whilst here, stromped down the tunnel after games without thanking fans, never put a shift in, rocked up 4 days before the season started and is leaving 4 games into a 10 game stint? Are people here Melbourne City supporters or David Villa supporters? His whole display has been fucking shameful, theres kids in the crowd with David Villa on the back of their tops, for 4 fucking games and he can't even go shake their hands or give them a high 5? Theres nothing to justify, he was a flop. Simple.
  8. Everyone laments the lack of service, to be fair he didn't make much happen when he had the ball either. One moment where he beat a couple of men (assisted via a lucky deflection also) then proceeded to shoot from an angle where he should have passed from? He also lost the ball down the wing several times and was caught offside several times then refused to get back behind the play and pressure their back 4. Facts are he didn't really put a proper shift in even in the games when he did score, and for that my memories of his guest stint are largely negative. Not staying back to atleast farewell the supporters who he is bailing on after 4 to be fair pretty average games by his standard? I won't miss him.
  9. This club has such a losing mentality. Was there tonight, they bossed midfield for the majority. So fucking annoying.
  10. Pretty obvious before the season started that we still hadn't addressed our three weakest areas, fullbacks, goalkeeper and a target man capable of holding the ball up. Looks like we finally are getting the latter in Kennedy in a few months, is it too late by then? No idea but he is exactly what we need up top. Full backs is a baffling one, we've gone into the season with no full backs in the squad?! Just very strange, if we have the cap space a left back with our last VISA is a must. Do we not have a youth goalkeeper thats better than redmayne or velaphi?! Both have zero outstanding qualities for mine. We have a good base in our squad and starting 11 but the areas we are lacking in are massive areas.
  11. Gotta go, in my opinion we aren't dynamic enough under JVS. It even seens that when we are down in games we stick to this posession game instead of throwing the kitchen sink at teams. I just feel under JVS that once it starts to become backs to the wall and the going gets tough in games that he just doesn't have the managerial ability to change things up and get us out of it.
  12. I said defensive liability, when Victory had the ball it was 11 men against 10, and I don't think anyone can deny that? Didn't pressure the ball carrier when in his vacinity, didn't track back to give any assistance to Ramsey (not making excuses for Ramseys terrible performance either, hes a shit left back and thats a fact), didn't put in a second effort when losing the ball. He was a passenger last night, especially when the going got tough in the 2nd half. And if his performance was affected by his lack of motivation as a guest player which i'm sure it was, then thats not really good enough either to be fair. Thanks for that Captain Obvious (couldn't resist). Anyway disagree. Defensive cover needs to be provided firstly by Paartalu then either Mooy or Murdocca. Without watching the replay from what i recall i don't think Galloway left his half, nor did Georgievski on Duffs side, both played super defensive roles, which tbh they should have having to mark Villa and Duff respectively. Therefore I don't agree with notion of playing 11 behind the ball ever, to me its pointless. It gives the team with ball nothing to worry about. At the very least you need 2 defenders marking Villa at all times. On several occasions Villa took up extreme good positions but we couldn't hit him and to me that what's the frustrating thing for him, it looks like he's cheating and not working back, but IMO he shouldn't. You can't afford the luxury of a player who is not willing to chase and put a foot in when the balls in his vacinity, and he absolutely HAS TO track back when it is him responsible for losing the ball. Duff in my opinion has been our best player this season, he is hard working, drops deeper into midfield and generates his attacks from there. I'm not faulting villa for his attacking play last night he starved due to a lack of service, but to just stand around and be nothing more than a witches hat while the other team has the ball? Thats garbage.
  13. I said defensive liability, when Victory had the ball it was 11 men against 10, and I don't think anyone can deny that? 14. Excellent first half, was stumped at how we went in level. 2nd half we played with 10 men, Villa didn't put a shift in, didn't track back, avoided physical contact, a performance that really made me feel let down as a supporter who has been a member since day one, I can excuse a player who lacks quality if they bust a gut, but lacking effort? Not good enough. Ramsey cops a brunt of the blame and i'll say hes never a left back in a million years, but Villa really should have supported him in his role of left winger and he didn't do so. Also have to question Dugandzic playing upfront, just not dynamic enough or strong enough to play central in a front 3. A really dissapointing second half tonight. But i'll stay positive and hope for better next week and for the next time we play them aswell.
  15. Villa was a huge part of our defensive problems tonight, didn't track back and put a shift in, left ramsey 2 on 1 time and time again, people will justify Villas performance. I honestly believe hes a defensive liability, we were basically playing with 10 men when they had the ball tonight. He has scored two goals, but as a left winger you have to track back and help out the defence aswell, his performance tonight was shameful. He lost the ball on a few occasions and put no effort into winning it back, one of the most lazy performances i've ever seen.
  16. Probably no hope at all but I need 3 GA tickets if possible. Was planning on buying tonight but looks like i've left it too late. Fuck. PM me if you can help
  17. Played for a small club called Gretna around 7 or 8 years ago who are now no longer in existence. His best form and where he really created his name was for Brisbane in their first two championships, an integral member of that team, great at breaking down play and very dangerous in attack for a defensive midfield player also. One of the best midfielders to have played in the A-League in my opinion.
  18. Best signing we've made in my opinion, an incredible player at this level. GET IN!!
  19. I see us just making the six, Villa and Koren will be lethal early games but I just see us droping off as the season goes on. Still too many areas of the side haven't been addressed, goalkeeper and full backs mainly. Using the last visa spot on a good foreign full back (left back preferable) would be smart I believe. As for starting lineup come first game i'd be hoping for something like Velaphi Germano. Kisborbo. Weilaert. new signing* Murdocca. Mooy Dugandzic Koren. Duff Villa
  20. I'm sure early season with Koren and Villa we'll be very strong, I see us falling off late in the season though. Pretty obvious that key areas that just cried out for improvement from last season haven't been addressed. A new Goalkeeper and two new full backs were just absolute must gets. Our last visa player just has to be a full back, either side, both need improving.
  21. Not a bad call, Kalmar probably misses the squad aswell though out of the bunch I named. Brown is probably behind Koren, Mooy and Mauk in the attacking midfield places. Its hard to fit him in.
  22. Just don't see a place for Brown in match day squad unless we have a lot of injuries!
  23. Hahahah jesus I can't be taken seriously with this name can I!
  24. Not too dissapointed with missing out on Lampard, one guest player is enough. Last visa (assuming Koren has signed) on a left back for the whole season would be more beneficial to the squad.
  25. Redmayne Hoffman - Weilaert - Kisnorbo - Ramsey? Germano Koren Mooy Williams Villa. Duff Bench from: Velaphi, dugandzic, murdocca, chapman, mauk, garruccio, kalmar Another striker and a left back are still needed in my opinion.
