  1. We lost earlier today, pal. Oops, just reading the thread now.
  2. Pleased as punch with that result, 100% win record for Heart for me so far, keep it up.
  3. I know you are trying to take the piss, and this won't temper that but for the record he said "to manage a big team like Manchester tonight" it's his accent that make it sound like United. Anyway matters not, what is more important is David Moyes apologising to the ManU fans in the press today, I can't figure out why, he's been waiting 21 years for Everton to win at the swamp and finish above ManU in the league, maybe both of his wishes will come true this season, he's half way there!
  4. Too right, Last 8 of the FA Cup.
  5. I don't get this 'man city' fans 'demand' we change. Man city have bought us for footballing reasons and they want to grow and have a development program etc etc. Not because they want an australian manchester for there fans to go on their holidays !!! Some go, I won't support them !! Why do they think they need to ?? They have a team called Manchester City. We have a team called Melbourne Heart. We can scratch each others backs without having to give each other bj's !! Sounds like a load of shit stirring to me, reckon you are spot on, I've never followed a team in red and white and imagine the majority of Heart fans haven't ever followed one in blue and may never do so. Personally I'm proud to be associated with the City of Melbourne now and to have a A League team to follow. Man City always comes first but as so many Heart fans have a second team I don't see any difference. I'll be pleased with the name change to Melbourne City and will just get used to red and white.
  6. Congrats to Heart and the old Yarra, by my maths you red and white fans are far more numerous, post per footy fan forum wise than I expected. More than UK forums pro rata.
  7. Another away scalp last night. Those that aren't antagonised or fear City should tune in sometime, it is the best football played i have ever seen by any English club in a long, long time. Keep it up City.
  8. Thanks, interesting reading. One thing that jumped out at me was how football has crept up on Australian rules football in the popularity stakes. When I was in Australia it definitely wasn't as popular as it is now but we are talking the best part of 2 decades. I'd be interested to know if Heart fans ever think football will overtake Aussie rules in the popularity stakes and how far behind it still is.
  9. Have to acknowledge this. As HEARTinator stated it's about Australian root football first and foremost but everybody can learn a thing or two from this lot.
  10. Go on then, blue nose is more a Brum term than City's in my experience, it's actually yours, but we have started using it in certain quarters. Arsenal cup win was so important and I know, I have a blue nose mate, as for Villa, shit on the windows, shit on the doors, shit all over..... Then again Villa fans haven't wronged me so as Birmingham is Englands third City, it's a tie. City fans know what's it like being on their Todd.
  11. Australian football needs Australian roots and talent and that is a guarantee with your new owners. As for history, it's created, granted, but change is guaranteed, every dog and all that. History just depends on how old you are, or when you came around. As for other British clubs getting involved investing in Australian football, I'd welcome it.
  12. Oh Adam Johnson, he played in blue and white Oh Adam Johnson, he makes your full back look shite (thought he'd win that game for you but was mistaken, as were you, go on, admit it? We'll see but looking forward to it. Pablo Zabaletta he is the ....ing man
  13. I'm so much more looking forward to this Wembley final atmosphere than otherwise. Should be a top day, any team can defy the bookies and It's not as if you've not noticed is it?
  14. I would like to see Forest make the play offs,I still remember sitting on the floor in a Dutch family home as a 12 yo with no recollection as to why right now, yet again, watching Forest win in Munich made my week and I'm not a forest fan So every football fan has memories, favourites and influences, it just depends. Football is a creeping experience and hindsight a wonderful thing, the two shift like the sands, Then there is luck. All three count and I really enjoyed the stadium porn btw.
  15. Thanks for all the responses, I guess as many of you have said or alluded too, time will tell, success will ultimately lead to a bigger following for the Heart but it's not going to happen overnight and your core support will always be there. I am pleased to see so many EPL teams represented in your ranks and how open minded most fans are. I am already starting to find myself drawn to your club and having no other prior allegiance to an Australlian football club I will have no qualms now in saying so to any Australian football fans I speak to in the future.
  16. Obviously most Heart fans are going to be MHFC/MCFC fans first and foremost but from my experience many Oz football fans have an EPL second team. I'd imagine Man City fans lag behind in the popularity stakes in Australia generally due to years of failure but those that happen to support both MCFC teams will be over the bluemoon. Do you Heart fans think you will lose more fans (Man Utd MHFC supporters) because of this change than gain Man City fans that don't presently support an Australian team or even switch to MHFC/MCFC from another Australian football club?
  17. I like your nickname Heart, Heart of the City and all that, Man City's nick name is the Citizens, Citizens of Manchester. Similar vein me thinks. For me an outsider, granted, love the fact we will have the same initials MCFC going forward. As for colours I get it, I couldn't face my City never playing in sky blue again so doubt you'll be pushed too far on that topic. What I hope will happen over the years is you will adopt the famous Man City blue in some guise of other even if it just your away strip. PS obviously not going to vote on the poll
  18. I'm really glad somebody posted a link to this forum from Bluemoon site, great reading so far and if our sister clubs come together for a friendly I'm keen as mustard to show my support. Distance is an issue and I said to the missus, next jaunt to Melbourne we should stop for a while, fantastic City is Melbourne, craps on Sydney IMO. Anyway if any of you lot are ever in Manchester and get yourself a ticket for a match, let's us blues know and I'm sure we could sort out a bit of get together pre and post match for drinks. Toasting MHFC / MCFC.
  19. Another City fan here from the great conurbation of Manchester. Congratulations and celebrations are the order of the day, personally I am well chuffed. When I lived in Oz for a year my favourite City was Melbourne without a shadow of doubt, and my fathers before me (he spent a decade there) and still got some distant relative residing in Beaumaris. Manchester and Melbourne are similar sized Cities that proudly represent their nation and big hitters. I'm already eyeing up a return trip over in a couple of years time and hopefully get to sink a few scoops with you lads. Added this forum to my favourite and look forward to following your progress here. Manchester - Melbourne - New York how does that sound, global City family.
