  1. They did list the season it finishes. Check Berenguer’s section. End of 2020/21 season. https://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/news/melbourne-city-re-signs-atkinson-berenguer-and-griffiths
  2. Another win. If we beat Doveton on Sunday then we’ll go second. https://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/news/npl-report-city-3-2-north-sunshine
  3. Exactly what we want. Brings the best out of every player with that kind of competition. Probably can’t keep them all for too long but we’re set for another season or two at least.
  4. To call him a failure is too harsh but he was just ok. Not really his fault; it was a free swing of sorts and if he turned out to be a genuine talent then we would’ve been even better than we were but as it turns out, we didn’t need him to be a star. Maybe we could go after a player like Nam Tae-hee if we are wanting an AFC player. Probably not much money left in the cap.
  5. I think the Premier League are using thicker lines next year. IFAB should introduce a mandatory thickness. Would be a good start.
  6. I think he’s gone but it is common for foreigners to go home during the off season.
  7. Don’t mean to annoy you JW but there are some errors. It’s Raphael Borges Rodrigues (he’s a forward), Bernardo Oliveira actually departed recently and signed for Adelaide where his old man played https://www.adelaideunited.com.au/news/reds-sign-bernardo. The other one you can probably remove is Abdulahi. I think he’s left too but not sure if he’s signed anywhere else.
  8. Player of the Year. Well done Curt. https://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/news/player-year-good-crowned-citys-best
  9. Reckon I teared up a little bit watching the highlights package this morning. I was at the damn thing and watched the replay yesterday but it only really hit me this morning just watching the scenes after the final whistle. I’m a grown ass man tearing up at a highlights package. But who the fuck cares…I’ve been watching this club battle and battle and battle since 2010. I’ve watched us put out honest triers for years, knowing we’d never get trophies, all the while watching Victory and then Sydney dominate. It was beyond frustrating. Then CFG changed everything, some things for the worse but most things for the better. For a moment there it all seemed too much. Well now we’ve won a title, with a whole bunch of academy products (including a kid who is a lifelong fan) and it feels fucking glorious. It’s only a game. A stupid game in a league derided as a bit of a joke. But it’s also one of the best moments of my life. And I’m happy for the club, thrilled for everyone who did it, but I’m even happier for us guys (and ladies) who live and breathe the club, show up midweek at dead rubber matches, and post on a tiny forum with an active community of 50 posters. I hope it brought and brings you all as much happiness as it has for me.
  10. And just a casual 10 as current/former City players.
  11. Would've been suicide. Maybe in the last 5-10 minutes as a final roll of the dice but they were out of gas.
  12. Found this guy's thread buried on page 5. Congratulations to him. Really stepped up when Atkinson went down and made that RB spot his own. Never really put in a bad performance and gave us a lot of attacking drive. To cap it off with a goal in the GF is pretty special. I think he's finally found a home here after a few stints at a few clubs. He'll have to work his ass off to keep out Atkinson but he looks up for the challenge.
  13. Talk about sliding doors. What would've happened if Atkinson and Nabbout had signed for Perth and fulfilled their contracts? We were so fortunate not to lose them. Atkinson started off the season strongly and ended it even stronger. His injury took him out of action for a couple of months but he was instrumental in the GF and Finals Series. Nabbout was the catalyst for our Premiership. He flicked the switch on our season and we became a juggernaut with him one of the driving forces. It's worked out great for Atkinson and Nabbout, and of course City. The only losers here are Perth. Luck plays its part in all successes but it looks to have played a big part in ours with these two blokes remaining City players.
  14. Agreed. Premiership and Championship are nice and all but it’s not even the main event. I won’t be satisfied until we win the ACL and then cap it all off with a Club World Cup. We’re on track but the hardest part is still to come. This was basically just pre season.
  15. Alex Wilkinson, Paulo Retre, Anthony Caceres and Luke Brattan played in an honourable GF loss last night to a far superior team. Special mention to Caceres for his tackling in the box and Brattan for his cool, calm composed leadership. Bad luck fellas.
  16. Atkinson terrific in the first half but quiet in the second. Tilio got it for me, was instrumental in most attacks. Honourable mention to Berenguer and Galloway. Colakovski did well. Honestly I could give all players credit. There weren’t many, if any, poor performances.
  17. Old beady eyes is always gracious in defeat. Sad little man. Don’t expect him to be happy or overly generous to us but show some class. We deserved it fair and square. I must say, and I didn’t actually notice it at the match because I couldn’t see it from that distance and didn’t get a replay, but Jamieson was actually protesting Brattan’s sending off. Pretty interesting I thought.
  18. Fuck what a feeling. I was consoling myself for weeks before yesterday with the idea that win/lose/draw, this Finals Series wasn't really that important because a) it was heavily compromised and b) Finals football is silly... But after winning it, I realised that it means so much more. In our league it really does matter. So to do this and do it well, especially after the heartbreak of last year, and the fact that we did it given we'd lost our three best players because they were representing our country and Noone and Nabbout...it's pretty special. We're a very good team and a strong club, with a lot of loyal fans who have put up with mediocrity for a long time, so I'm just as happy for us long suffering fans. The atmosphere was incredible.14K but it felt like the stadium was full. Hopefully we can achieve this, at some point in the future, most weeks. That's what football is about. And we're not fucking done yet.
  19. CHAMPIONE CHAMPIONE OLE OLE OLE! CHAMPIONE CHAMPIONE OLE OLE OLE! CHAMPIONE CHAMPIONE OLE OLE OLE!
  20. Thought Nabbout might start but nobody deserved to be dropped. LET’S FUCKING GO!
  21. Gives a rough idea. Not sure it’s exact but it’s usually pretty close. Are there still seats on the top level? Those prices are high. Might be why we don’t fill it out.
  22. Makes sense. Being able to play with Leckie and Nabbout would be pretty tempting. I’m guessing all three are somewhat close.
  23. Great. Thought he might test himself at a better level but can’t complain with this result from our perspective. He can be part of a front three that can dominate the league for years.
  24. Another doughnut day. Surely we’ve got it. Half capacity would give us what…13-14K? Atmosphere will be very good at that level.
