  1. No it's not. I also cannot get friends to attend and have even lost a few to that other mob. We need to provide sexy, exciting entertainment on the pitch and/or sexy, exciting entertainment before the game and at half time. Thank God for active otherwise there would be no buzz around the stadium. Whoever is responsible at MCFC needs to go back to school.
  2. I would much prefer we finish fourth. Then, if we win, we could stick it up Sydney and end up with an all Melbourne final.
  3. Yes, we had a win and it was a decent score but we STILL played a lot of really boring football. We haven’t managed to stop playing the slow, play it around the back line possession football yet. Every time they do it I watch the opposition slowly pressuring them into the inevitable turn over. Tongyik, for example, got caught out several times. The best period was when Fitzy and then Kamau came on. Was it good coaching to have them as impact subs or should they have been on earlier? For me it again wasn't a hugely entertaining night. Thank goodness we only have one more home game so I can dream of what could have been and what might happen next year.
  4. Totally agree with his comments about Fornaroli. For multiple reasons he is not the right person for captain and I have no doubt it has taken an edge of his concentration. However to then target the players is way off the mark. The lack of culture and cohesiveness we continue to see at Heart/City is solely down to the management and coaches.
  5. This is just as stupid as JVS's "it's a work in progress" ie we have failed - again. When will we get a coach who can actually say I got it all wrong and who will take responsibility.
  6. I'm beginning to think that you are about the only one who talks sense on this forum
  7. Yes we have the better team but, until the last few weeks, I wouldn't have said we have the more cohesive and fluent team. It's the old "team of good players versus the good team of players" situation. This game will show where we stand.
  8. "Also I seem to be the only one on this forum who thinks Brandan is the best winger at the club and one of the best players in the squad" No you're not.
  9. I just hope Tongyik plays. Sure he has a little bit to learn but he gives me confidence in the backline as he always looks so solid and competent.
  10. Agree re Cahill but the dilemma we have is recognising that we shouldn't play Fornaroli at the same time (or the other way around).
  11. Except for the refereeing I haven't enjoyed a match as much all season. Great to see we forgot about playing the ball backwards. Sorensen's presence at the back was great and all players played a fabulous game - except for Rose who again made too many mistakes and should have been subbed. First time for weeks I have felt proud to stand up for the "if you love City stand up" chant.
  12. "I'm going tonight for the reasons that I want to enjoy some football from both sides". Don't we all. Winning is the ultimate but at least let us be entertained.
  13. This article is spot on. There is no doubt that there is a culture problem at City. We have great facilities and for the last two years (given the restrictions of a salary capped league) pretty good squads. Yet it never feels cohesive and the club has never developed the "family feel, all together" culture it could so easily have. This is something that comes from above. If you have an involved, concerned and committed heirachy it just follows. Fans as well as players have interest and a desire to perform and go the extra mile. It's no wonder the team look like a disorganised rabble and we cannot attract attendances. Time for a big clean out.
  14. To me this again a demonstration of bad management. When you have players getting close to the maximum number of yellows you manage it. Don't expose some to playing time, get others to attract a yellow etc.
  15. Actually the reason Brisbane don't have a lot of members is because they rebelled against management last year and their membership dropped from over 12,000 to 5,300. This year has see a few more creep back (now sitting at just over 7,000). The interesting statistic is that they still manage to average an attendance of over 15,000 whereas we can only manage 11,000 even including the derby). On another note - the total number of members of all clubs is now an FFA record - just touched 115,000
  16. Some words are in themselves unacceptable - racist, demeaning etc. But with a lot of other words it's how it is said, in what context, with what modifying adjective, who you say it to and how the recipient perceives it. Call me a gypsy and I wouldn't worry. Call me a f$%* pom and with venom and I would be pretty annoyed. Whilst gypsy is still a legally accepted word it is now starting to have racial implications and probably should be avoided. To use it with a strong adjective to someone you are making a pointed, vociferous remark to can have only one connotation. Despite being provoked what Bouzanis did was stupid and he deserves to be punished for it. As for Cahill - what he did is defined as not being allowed in the rules of the game. As an experienced professional he should know better and be able to control himself. Unacceptable.
  17. This is a goalkeeper's role and undoubtedly Sorensen's strength. Not so with Bouzanis.
  18. We won't be there either. Can't be bothered spending more money to watch their pathetic boring football
  19. We have seen this lack of drive show up in many players over the years. I think the problem is that, despite them being professionals, it is difficult to maintain enthusiasm when you are being managed by Muppets who have no vision and no ability to drive the team forward. It is the same problem you see in a lot of organisations - and I would not be surprised if many of you on here have experienced it. Give us good coaches and an energetic, enthusiastic and engaged management and watch the change.
