  1. If the suggestion is Milligan isnt NT standard then its way wrong. Super player and really versatile. Probably best suited to dm but is just behind Jedinak, but nevertheless is a very important squaddie. I love Behich, but he is overrated on this forum.
  2. Nah i got an email last week saying theyd arrive in the first two weeks of October
  3. IIRC the only reason FFA have dictated where the last two finals have been is because Perth have been in them, which completely fucks it for everyone from a TV point of view if they play it over there. IMO they will let fate decide this time and simply which ever name gets drawn out first will host, unless its Canberra in which case they'll get to host it being a non A-League team. For the derby I'm pretty confident that the Mongs wont even get a say in it. Will likely be split 50-50. At very least we'll get the South End and then it will be up to FFA to decide how they split up the reserved seating. Victory might get a bit more there based on pure weight of numbers.
  4. Given all teams are on the Eastern seaboard, imo they'll draw the Final host out of the hat. FFA tho so who knows.
  5. Ah yeh it is, but it just involves separating the A - League and non A League pots for the R32, R16 and QF draws. Ideally theyll do away with that at some point.
  6. It's a random draw after each round, just like the FA Cup, League Cup and most of the other major cups...
  7. Yeh almost certainly will be October 25th at AAMI Park with Sydney returning from Welly.
  8. It will be either Tuesday 18th or Tuesday 25th, more than likely at AAMI being a mid week game. I feel particularly sorry for @cadete, who will now have to miss the FFA Cup Semi Final
  9. Watched the last 20 of the Gully Canberra game. Gully bottled it
  10. Bentleigh solid after the first 20 min. Proof that getting past these sides can be difficult if you dont score early
  11. In part yep. The attractive football will be a factor to imo. Think the Cahill affect will be more evident when the smaller memberships go on sale and people start snapping up the 3 and 5 game packages for a taster. I think the club set 15k as a target internally which imo seems like an aspiration more than a likely scenario, but 13k is probably achievable, particularly if we can nab two wins on the road to start the season.
  12. Doesnt look like it. Fiji's OFC qualifiers dont appear to resume until March, the Kiwis have friendlies against Mexico and the USA next week
  13. 11 Days out and it seems we have pretty much a clean bill of health, Cahill is away on Socceroos duty and the Nix look likely to lose Moss, McGlinchey, Durante, Barbarouses, Doyle and Fenton to All Whites Duty. Trips across the ditch are never easy, although this presents about a good an opportunity as possible to get off the mark with a win. Lineup wise I think we'll opt for a 3-4-3,with Malik dropping back into a CB role when we defend, as we appear to have done against WSW, Auckland and our matches in Townsville. Sorensen Chapman Jakobsen Rose Malik Brattan Kilkenny Brandan Kamau Fornaroli Colazo SUBS Bouzanis Fitzgerald Caceres Retre Muscat Wellington will likely go in with something like : Italiano Fox--Tratt--Rossi--Boxall Roly--Lia/Ridenton--Rodriguez Finkler Krishna--Watson Still has some handy enough players in Bonevacia, Krishna and Finkler up front whilst Rossi has apparently looked terrific in pre-season. Going to be a really interesting game, and one that we should take all 3 points, but approach with caution. My tip is 2-0 City with Bruno and Kamau to score.
  14. A-League clubs chasing $6m salary cap to go with new TV deal Val Migliaccio, @val61, The Advertiser 29 minutes ago A-LEAGUE bosses want to increase the salary cap to $6 million per club to coincide with a new television deal. FoxSports has until Friday to renew its deal with the A-League and is lobbying a free-to-air TV partner as part of the new contract. In 2005 FoxSports signed a $120 million A-League agreement over seven years and increased it in 2012 to $40 million per season until 2017. It’s expected two other broadcasters will enter the bidding war if Fox Sports allows the exclusive deadline to pass. Pay TV provider BeIN Sports and Optus are reportedly waiting in the wings to bid for Australia’s premium soccer competition. An FFA source claimed clubs may be able to get a financial ‘uplift’ from the new TV deal. But A-League club officials have claimed they haven’t yet delivered their $6 million salary cap expectations to FFA. This season FFA will deliver $2.6 million per club which covers the current salary cap as part of the old deal with clubs forced to spend 90 per cent $2.340 million for up to 23 players. But concluding a $6 million per season deal for each club will see the A-League make significant financial strides. The A-League could make up ground on the AFL, which this year had its salary cap set at $10.6 million while rugby league’s salary cap is worth $6.8 million. But a new A-League TV deal is expected to fall short on last year’s record AFL $2.508 billion broadcast contract. The AFL will rake in almost $418 million a year over six years until 2022. Rugby League’s $1.8 billion TV deal, which was signed off last year and starts in 2018, is 70 per cent higher than the existing rights.
