  7. Smartphone discussion

    Just got the iphone 6s Plus  and have been playing around with it. I switched from a note 4 as I got a bit sick of android.

     

    So far very impressed, still have to get used to going back to iOS but the 3d touch is pretty cool. Its hard to get used to it as you think to press down hard and hold it but its not quite that more like a hard tap.

     

    Best thing about the touch is that if you push on the keyboard hard it comes up as a pad so you can put the text cursor where ever you want, very useful, I have always been frustrated with trying to put it inbetween letters.

    The finger print sensor is amazingly quick now, like as soon as you put your finger on it it unlocks. It can actually be a little annoying since my first reaction to see a notification is to press the home button to see it, but it unlocks instead.

    Anyway its typical apple, fast and it always works without a hassel

    There is a reason I hadn't been since dental van in primary school

     

    My primary school dental van had a female dentist with a very full moustache. She had to have been in her 30s at that time. She probably has a beard now.

    Wouldnt everybody outside of Newcastle sound like they have a posh English accent to you? Maaaaaate! Yoooou got a spare durry? Haha

    I know people from WA have a slightly different accent, but I have met a small amount of people (maybe like 2 or 3) who talk like they are extras on the bill and when asked about where they grew up they have all said they talk like that because they are from Perth.

    I overhead someone on the train say it today too. It's weird

     

     

    In my experience this is probably 50% the case.

    If anything you would think a South African slant would be more prevalent amongst PPL in Perf because their are more White South Africans there than in South Africa itself these days.

     

    My favourite slang word of all time has to be the use of "Big Man" that PPL from Glasgow use like we use "Mate"... it doesn't matter how big or small a bloke is he is always called "Big Man".

     

     

    I grew up using "Big Man" in a sarcastic way like an insult.

    Even Olympic Donuts is like an actual shop now.

    Fucking shit.

    I rarely do these days, thats why I was surprised how much its changed.

     

     

    I probably saw you but there are so many luxury Toyota's driving around I wouldnt have recognised you :P

    I want to upgrade my laptop. I use it mainly for posting on forums, cruising alot of YouTube, and torrenting. Despite these activities not really requiring ridiculous performance, a fast, smoothly-running PC is something of great value for me.

    The 6-Cell battery is cooked. Lasts about 8 minutes and I get a warning my system is underpowered when it's not plugged into the wall.

     

    It's a 2008 spec Dell XPS M1330

    Running Vista 32-Bit

    T8100 @ 2.1 GHz

    2 GB RAM (I think it's DDR2, but not positive)

    250 GB HDD

    The one upgrade I NEED is:

    -New 9-cell battery (about $100 for a genuine new Dell part, about half that for cheap shit out of Hong Kong)

     

    The upgrades I'm still deciding on are:

    -upgrade to Windows 7 64-Bit (I already own a copy so would be free if done myself)

    -solid-state hard drive (expensive)

    -More RAM (cheap)

    -Better CPU (cheapish)

    Thoughts? I'm willing to spend about $500 if it gets me another year or two.

    Nicolas Cage is to acting what Nickelback is to music.

    Thats not accurate...

     

    All of Nickelback's songs are horrific whilst Cage has made at least three decent movies... I would say he is more like the Noiseworks of Music.

     

    Massive back catalog of crap with one or two okay songs (For Pop Rock of that Era) that you hear around Australia Day.

     

     

    Fair assessment. He also did a lot of bad movies solely to make money in order to get out of debt. I'm sure we have all worked shitty jobs because we needed money at some point.

    Went to Northland for the first time ever today, what the fuck is that all about! Such a weird area

    I live nearby and the place is like a Cultural Wasteland stuck in 2002... the worst bit is how its all on one level so going to the only stores you might need to go to (As in the bigger ones) is like running a Modern Shopping Mall Marathon in 2002.

     

    Respect has to be given though for it actually containing a Lowes though - LOL.

     

    Whats the food court like, i havent been since 2009.
