  1. Other clubs: re sign coach after failed season and boring tactics MC Forum: smart decision, makes sense, good to have faith etc. MCFC: Re sign title winning coach MC Forum: Get rid of him, lost the dressing room, sack him.
  2. And likewise, I believe we may be seeing our own writing on the wall. I don't like how we struggled to contain victory during the last derby. We need to recruit very smartly in the of season to ensure the squad is up for the challenge next season. I reckon it will shape up to be our most difficult season yet with many teams gaining ground this year. Teams like victory and Sydney will be a hungry as ever to gain top spot.
  3. Interesting that Sydney has reappointed Corica. Furthermore after their small collapse this Sydney they're now rebuilding the squad and playing style next season. We certainly need a reasonable freshen of new players next season to challenge for top spot. After missing the final for the first time since 2016, Sydney FC's cleanout has begun with ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ leaving the club. ๐Ÿ—ฃ โ€œRecruitment will be key to our success as we freshen up the squad. โ€œWeโ€™ll need a new ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐ข๐ค๐ž๐ซ, a new ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐ญ๐ž๐ง and I want to strengthen us ๐๐ž๐Ÿ๐ž๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ...Weโ€™ll also be looking at ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ž to give the boys a new approach to the season and keep them fresh.โ€ Full story & list of exits: https://keepup.com.au/news/sydney-fc-clean-out-begins-with-12-exits
  4. I couldn't watch the game but kept check of the highlights. So based off that there was only one team that was winning that game and it was us. So well done boys. Great job.
  5. And if we win our away leg, do we still play the home game? Edit: I'm sure we do, but I don't see any advantage anymore for being the top team. Before the advantage was you play a home final. Now it gives the lower ranked team more opportunity from how I look at it.
  6. So how's this new home and away leg in the semis any advantage for the top winning teams? Or is going directly into the semis the only advantage now...
  7. I don't know if these players are still in contract or not but the Italian, Griffiths, Endo, Jenkinson and Glover I would move on. Get a better replacement centre back with some speed, a right back that can attack similar to Atkinson, get our visa midfield position right and a number one goal keeper.
  8. I enjoy @Imtellingyou posts. Never change.
  9. Not if the rumour that they're going under is true.
  10. I just dont see how PK can be moved on. However, taking a lesson from Sydney I beleive if we don't refresh the squad with new players we're destined to fail at some point. Sydney have a number of excellent players but I think they've simply gone stale. Same coach, same ageing players, same tactics. Hoping PK can give the squad a boost with a few excellent signings in the off season.
  11. I was hoping to feel more jubilation than relief but thank goodness we got through that ๐Ÿ†
  12. Careful like Lowy and Gallop prioritising general and non football fans whilst single handedly driving active fans away and creating the huge decline in active support and support overall? Yes care is needed for the correct people who are the heart and soul of aleague support.
  13. Great post. Thats interesting about the fan led review in England. Based on that criteria in comparison to us it makes sense.
  14. I'm trying hard to understand. Because we are still top of the table. Will we close it out on Monday, not sure. But to not support the team given the circumstance is a bit strange. We won the league last season. We're currently top of the table. Our first outing in Asia and we didn't lose a game. We retuned back and played in Perth the following day. I just feel we're so quick to get angry at the team and the club without any consideration to the positives and difficulties. I think jw you touch on something that I think is as close to the truth as can be and that is about what happened to the club with CFG taking over. It sounds silly mentioning but I understand this because I've been through many moments because City has not felt the same as Heart, regardless of results. So i think for many supporters, following Melbourne City was conditional, based on results/other performance factors. Therein lies a big issue. Mjake1234 you were a Heart supporter, so you would have been through the 'if win we win' stage, which was for most of Hearts existence. Yet we loved the club. For me there is no comparison in the level of effort and resilience to today's City and Hearts David Williams era. That's why I'm curious about your motive to continue to support the club. Please understand, I'm not grilling you out anything like that, but seeing as you posted it, it's an interesting talking point.
  15. Your choice but I think that's a pretty poor reason. And I mean that specifically down to the reasons you mentioned. People all over the world support their club with frustration. Yet we're top of the table and one game away from a title defence. I would guess 90% of supporters around the world support a club that underperforms. My guess is its not the reasons you mentioned because they make no sense in the broader football landscape. Secondly since PK tool over weve won trophies. Maybe its about the club itself or fan engagement/connection etc.

    Tom Glover

Could be. But Redmayne did shit in a shit Melbourne Heart outfit. Glover is doing shit in a top of the ladder title winning team. No excuses really.
  17. Being overseas i didn't get to watch the game. Being somewhat detached from the emotions of the game makes for interesting reading in this thread So to go against the grain of negativity we have 4 nights sleep in Melbourne before Monday, assuming we leave Perth tomorrow. Plenty of recovery time. Basically comes down to, win on Monday, and tonights game is obsolete. Win on Monday and we await a home semifinal with plenty of rest.
  18. On the other hand we've developed a decent amount of other players that have done well through our system...eg. Metcalfe, Tilio, Atkinson etc.
  19. Does anything come with it? Dinner, drinks, nibblies?
  20. In all likeliness this is true. But bring to your attention Melbourne Heart, who would go on a 5 game win streak in 13/14 after being bottom of the table and registering one win in sixteen rounds.
  21. Actually agree. First option should have been for Jamo to clear the ball because he couldn't pass the ball on the ground. Secondly 100% agree with the attitude 9f the 2 coaches which was evident during the game. The underdog title has well and truly gone from us and perhaps this was a factor in the mindset.
  22. It's hard to be constructive or find any positives after that shit performance but I'll try at least not be too negative. That was hand's down our worst performance all season. Both first goals were goal keeping errors. I don't know why Glover hesitated when Jamo passed the ball back to him (i actually thought Jamo would just clear it out for a victory throw so he's certainly a part to blame). And I don't know why Glover didn't catch the in coming cross, or at the very least punch it well out out harms way. PK deserved all the credit for his subs and management on Wednesday. Equally he deserves all the criticism for his decisions tonight. The first and most obvious is Jamo for Bos. I just don't get the automatic switch after Bos killed it on Wednesday and Jamo is returning. It was very questionable even before the kick off. Losing ONiell was evidently huge. As the game went on it showed that Metcalfe couldn't fill that role. If Nuno was fit to play he should have started and Griffiths pushed up into DM. Griffiths is too slow against a counter attacking victory as a CD. But at DM he proven to be a brick wall. Why did our subs come on with only 13 minutes to go. Why PK didn't opt for earlier cottages l changes i don't know. Lastly that's probably the 'softest' we've ever played in a derby. Felt like we were losing most 50/50 battles and lacked the physicality to impose ourselves over them like we have in the past. Unfortunately can't think of any positives.
