  1. My source has said there will be serious funding cuts regarding club staff and inevitably the players as the club is simply losing far too much money every year. Some of the numbers being quoted that these guys are paid for incompetence is sobering.
  2. Hate to burst the bubble but itโ€™s not Alessandrini.
  3. Player coming in is better than Rojas. Castro-esque. Correct. Wanted silly $$$
  4. Correct. Nothing signed and Cabrera is still training with the team until everything with Rojas is sorted. Club don't want to be caught out by selling one and missing out on the number 1 target.
  5. Cabrera is definitely gone, and Rojas is indeed the number one choice to replace him.
  6. Big ego and nothing to back it up. In his own mind he's still that 15 year old at the Liverpool academy. If only he spent as much time reflecting on his own shortcomings as he does on instagram and hounding his team mates. Him and Catley being a package deal has kept him in a job.
  7. Terrible 'Keeper. Terrible Attitude. Terrible Bloke. Needs shipping off in January.
  8. The club can't win in the medias' eyes and are quite an easy target. Top of the league - Media Reaction: Where are the crowds? Sign Australia's Melbourne-born first-choice number 9 - Media Reaction: Not a big enough name. Plays experienced players - Media Reaction: Need more Youth. Plays the Youth - Media Reaction: Just a Youth Farm for CFG. Signs proven A-League players - Media Reaction: Recycled hacks. Signs overseas player - Media Reaction: Who? Sign Zlatan. Wears Sky Blue - Media Reaction: Should have kept Red and White. Wears Red and White - Media Reaction: No crowd there to see it anyway. Beat Western United - Media Reaction: Meh WU beat Victory - Media Reaction: A new Derby is born! The only way to shut everyone up is the win the toilet seat.
  9. A key issue is the keyboard warriors that were screaming for all these ingredients are still not showing up. Getting a world-renowned star to come in will bring a short term attendance boost but doesn't guarantee success in the same season. E.g Del Piero.
  10. He'll have 2 years left on his deal at the end of this season. Club will get a hefty fee and hopefully with the shackles of the FFA no longer holding the club back, be reinvested.
  11. At the time they'd have all been on A-League minimum wage which is a touch over $60k. Asia is the only place they could actually live like the pro-footballers they are and they had a night out. Headline should read "Males in early twenties have a few beers in Asia".
  12. All the kits were designed by a bloke that is actually a member, and has been since heart days. Away kit is a definite template job, but hard to fault them if they gave the job to a foundation member. Source: puma outlet in moorabbin
  13. If only Bouzanis spent as much time training as he does on instagram or flexing in the mirror. Useless.
  14. Metcalfe will play every minute of this season if he keeps this form up. Mombaerts will always give the younger player minutes over the older player if he believes they are of the same level. He rates Najjarine as Mahrez level at Le Havre from what I've heard.
  15. That would require the FFA to have a clue what they're doing in the first place...
  16. He's marquee for accounting purposes. He wasn't last year but was promoted to that spot as he is now the second highest earner with a few of the bigger earners departing. I understand the viewpoint that a "marquee" should be someone that dazzles, but Noone is not listed as marquee and is performing well. If they swapped, would anyone care? Would it suddenly be okay, even though all that's changed is how much they're being paid? Just some food for thought.
  17. To start? Doubtful. Metcalfe , Brillante and Florin are the preferred trio
  18. Correct. Good has also pulled up lame but is expected to play alongside Delbridge.
  19. Yep. The draw is somewhat rigged to make sure a non a-league team is in at least one of the semi-finals.
  20. It looks as if the club are getting around him at the moment and showing him a bit of love online which might mean something. Doubt he's happy not playing but it just shows how competitive it is for spots in the squad now.
  21. No surprises. All visa spots are filled, and both marquee spots have been locked in for months. The squad is final unless a big bid from overseas comes in and there's a scramble to replace. Players like Metcalfe, Najjarine and Najjar stepping up will be great for squad depth this year so out of form players can be given a break. Galloway can play both sides of defence to cover should Jamieson go down injured, as well as Karlic at LB in the NPL squad who is very highly rated. Expecting to leak a few more goals but something has to give if you're going to play on the front foot. Overall the squad looks a lot more solid and balanced this season compared to last.
  22. Jedinak is not and never has been an option...
  23. Shouldn't be too hard at an elite level to have an attacking philosophy and change it up to a more direct method should it be needed. Play a default mentality of keeping the ball and attack down the wings and cross/play diagonal pass against those team with deeper defensive lines, as shown against Oakleigh. Those teams that play a high line and press to combat the passing then become susceptible to the long ball in behind for the front 3 to latch onto.
