  1. that had nothing to do with hoffmann that penalty. Hate to say it but WSW deserve the lead. we have been very lucky I didn't say he was to blam for that one. I just think we concede many more goals when he's on the pitch! Plus, he just got owned by that young kid - he had no pace, no determination, no whit, no anticipation of what was about to transpire!! Hoffman off, Mitchinson On. There's only 4mins to go, why would he not make the sub???
  2. You can see his eight-pack showing through his jersey! lol
  3. Haha the commentator said, "still, it doesn't look like Western Sydney is holding back to protect their lead", but it looks more like, "Melbourne Heart is holding back to protect yet another away loss".
  4. It's official, Hoffman now has the record for conceding the most amount of goals for the amount of time being on the pitch! I'm not actually sure that's true, but I'm pretty sure he'd be close to it!!
  5. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Nice, Babalj for Kalmar, better move than leaving Hoffman on! lol Why are we being tortured? Why? Why can't Hoffman go to China too?
  7. MAKE THE SUBSTITUTIONS JOHN. MAKE THEM NOW!! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE GOAL TO COME!!! Those fireworks are going for a while, aren't they? :-)
  8. JA needs to make a double substitution very Very VERY soon: Hoffman OFF - Mitchinson ON Kalmar OFF - Grella ON Why is Kalmar never where he should be? At least Thomo gets into some decent positions!
  9. I'm hoping they can co-exist on the pitch and I'm really hoping Aloisi gives it a go! I know Maicon didn't light the pitch on fire (on his own), but JvS would almost never play him at the same time as Terra. The few games that JvS subbed Maicon on, but not at Terra's expense, they worked really well together and it was exciting to watch. Just like I don't think it's a coincidence that when our Argentinian came back from injury, Fred started to fire up ;-) Try it out JA - especially if we're down at the 60mins+, not much more to lose when you're already losing! Opportunity to try something new!
  10. If it's at Crown, the $30k might just pay for the venue hire, but the raffle would get us over the line lol Maybe if we get our number 1 International Ticket Holder to play, they could charge more and sell more tix
  11. Didn't he just sign on at Dandy Thunder? Yes, I don't know why we don't want him. Because our football club believes it should play the same formation forever, and there is no role for a Striker like Zac in this formation... At CF/Number Nine: He is too Short. At AM/Number Ten: He is not Creative Enough. At RW/Number Seven: He really Struggles to get Involved in the Play. I saw him score a couple of nice goals against Port Melbourne during pre-season, but haven't seen anything from him since. P.S. and slightly off topic, why didn't we sign Andreas Govas? He impressed me in that game...he's now playing in Greece's Football League (second tier).
  12. will it actually be his debut? I reckon - reports are saying he's not far away so if he makes his debut off the bench against Victory, then maybe he can start against Perth. Otherwise, an off the bench first appearance against Perth would still be enough to market as his "debut" and entice more fans to come along.
  13. I reckon, pending a good result against Victory and hopefully Grella's debut in the starting line-up against Perth on Feb the 9th - if marketed right in addition to the #OneMelburnian initiative - we could be looking at 10k easy!
  14. Tadic's goal against adelaide was a textbook header...i think he's decent in the air. Mind you our corners and set pieces are disgraceful 99% of the time so we haven't really given players like tadic and babalj the best of service in the air to prove themselves. That's because David Williams can't kick/cross the ball over the first defender. Whether it's a corner or a set shot his balls almost always fall short and the first defender clears it with ease! Half the time, Tadic doesn't even a get a chance to header the ball!
  15. I saw Hoffman at the Australian Open two days ago. Wasn't sure if it was him so I called out Jason and he turned around. I asked him where he was on Friday night and he said he had a niggle and couldn't play, but then quickly said, "nah, I got left out of the team"...he looked embarrassed as he said it. I kinda felt sorry for him, even though I give him so much crap when he's on the field! lol But hey, no player is bigger than the club right? And if the club keeps winning without a specific player, then what can you do? Leave them out of the line-up again I guess! lol
  16. I love this question, would love to know what would happen if teams from the late nsl came in. probably why the a-league wont be expanded with nsl teams imo. scared that old nsl support will just take them back to their roots Jimmy, I'm way too emotionally attached to Heart to change to another A-League team, even if SMFC (or SXFC) joined the A-League. Like I mentioned, going for SMFC was almost by default; I am Greek, they were Hellas playing in the top flight league in Australia. My heart now beats for Heart (pun intended, sorry). That's not to say that I don't wish SMFC well in the VPL/APL. I might even go watch them during the VPL season. They also fill the void for live football during the A-League's long off season. Mr. Aiden, I don't think that's entirely why the FFA don't want to admit old NSL teams into the A-League, that it'll "just take them back to their roots". For example, I doubt many of the Greek Victory or Heart supporters will go back to SMFC if they are to be granted a license into the A-League. I think the bigger problem for the existing NSL teams is that it'll be more difficult attracting new fans outside of the ethnic background they originally represented thus limiting their growth and the A-League's. It's almost as if they've been stamped/branded/labelled with a single ethnic group and it'll probably be a couple of generations before they can break away from that, in my opinion. It's all about the Red & White stripes for me
  17. Who Did you support before Heart? South Melbourne FC. I'm Greek so it was pretty much by default when I moved to Melbourne in '93 from Sydney. In 2004-05, my little brother played for SMFC's U21s so I had to drive him to practise and games all the time and so I never really took notice of Victory starting up. I then moved to Sydney for work in 2005 and although I follow the Sydney Swans I couldn't affiliate myself with the Sky Blues. Also, being born in Greece my one and only true football club at the time was Olympiacos! Why did you start supporting Heart? Returning from Sydney in 2007 and still not feeling any connection for Victory or Sydney FC I stayed neutral. When I saw a photo of Aloisi wearing a Red & White striped jersey in the paper, I was automatically drawn to the club. I called up my little brother and told him of this Olympiacos look-a-like team starting up in Melbourne and we became foundation members the day memberships became available. There was finally a team (of any football code) in Australia I could get truly passionate about and to this day I think I've only missed 3 home games. Even when my brother stopped coming, I renewed his membership and now take my wife! If you didn't support Victory, why My childhood team was Olympiacos so most teams I support are Red or Red & White; Liverpool, Heart, Swans. Also, being an SMFC supporter at the time Victory came about I couldn't go for another blue Melburnian team. I dunno, I guess I just never liked them, I never felt a connection and they never did anything for me. The first Victory game (and only until Heart came in) I attended was when they lost to SFC in the grand final at Etihad and even then I was sitting on the SFC end. I think I got more emotional when the ref blew the whistle against Brisbane Roar last weekend than I did when the Swans won the premiership last year...though that might have just been because the last 10+5mins against Roar were so intense and suspenseful! lol
  18. The A-League is "top-flight"
  19. Hey guys, I'm 29yo, a foundation member and attend/ed every home game apart from the stormy CCM game in our first season. It wasn't because of the weather though - I was in Sydney - otherwise I would've been there! All teams I follow are red & white - Heart, Olympiacos, Swannies, Illawarra St George Dragons, Liverpool and Real Madrid (no red, but a lot of white)! I've just posted my first reply in the forums since becoming a member here and I'm eagerly looking forward to Heart's fan forum next Thursday :-) I just thought I take this opportunity to point out that the little website 'logo' on the browser tab looks more like the Victory "V" - can this be changed to Heart's logo or Melbourne Heart F.C. Supporters' logo? Anyway...I just thought I introduce myself...ok bye bye now...
  20. According to Wikipedia, he's a free agent as of YESTERDAY - maybe he should come and experience a Melbourne summer and the relaxed Aussie lifestyle
