For the life of me I cannot understand how social media sites are not classified as publishers, in which case, this means that they would fall under the same legislation that the broadcast, newspapers and book publishers do. They conned (or bought more likely) that they were like telephony companies and any prohibition would stifle development. And the c**** bought it or were bought by it. I cannot cut into an NBN fibre or tap the fibre and see what people are transmitting but social media sites are all about getting as many people to see what they are broadcasting - indeed the technical terms are broadcast and multicast.
