  3. Big turnout of local Trickies is certain at the Imperial late this Sunday night to (hopefully) see the mighty Reds return to the Premier League after 23yrs…… Kickoff is 1.30am. The pub just told me they have fielded a LOT of calls about this event and I know there are a substantial number of Forest fans who attend City games / are City members. See you there!! And of course, we look forward to banter with Terriers fans too! Following on from our GF win on Saturday - can’t wait for that kickoff either - this is personally going to be the biggest football weekend for me in Melbourne since I moved here from UK in 2008. YOU REDS!!! COME ON YOU CITY BOYS!!

  4. Anyway, Albanese seems to have had a sound first week, and I sincerely hope that he can grow into the statesman role and become a real leader for the country. I feel it's something we desperately need.

  6. As I mentioned earlier, professional sports take generations to develop to the level we are accustomed to. Do you think that Pele would make it today? Perhaps but not a certainty. And this is because there are training regimes, dietary regimes and all the things that we come to expect from professionalism. Few women's sport have had that luxury - basketball, netball, tennis, ???? It is not only an issue driven by gender equality - I would like my nieces to be able to achieve whatever they want - but also it was a reaction to the Taliban and Islamic State. At their height, there was no pushback from conservatives against greater expenditure in women's sport. So I think that in another 15 to 20 years, women's sport will achieve the level of skill that will enable to stand up on it's own. At the moment we are working on the one percenters.

  8. I'm not sure how this will go, we should be starting favourites, and have the experience of two consecutive Grand Final appearances. We'll be relatively rested (compared to the breaks between games over the past few months, and are playing at home with almost a full squad. We haven't beaten WU at all this season, but this is a game they will need to play to win rather than just sit deep and counter-attack. We will need to score first though or it'll be much harder for us. Either way, it's good to see a Grand Final between the two Melbourne teams

  9. That would include membership seats already sold for a normal home game so in theory, other than a smattering of freebies and promotional tickets, the finals number should be pretty close to what has actually been bought this week.

  10. Do you have a link to this offer? Where did you hear about it?

  11. Personally I would be going with Griff over gomulka, tillio on the wing and Leckie central. FB looked to under cooked against Adelaide n historically he has taken a few games to build any form. I would also go Bos over Jamo, but that is never gonna happen.

  12. This is a serious issue that must be addressed if the league and clubs are to grow. I am of the belief that, for an equivalent seat, it should never be cheaper for a non-member to attend a match than the cost for a member. All these special offers are a kick in the guts for the paid-up member. The simple way, I think, would be for reserved-seat members to be entitled to book their membership seats for a home "finals match" as part of their membership, i.e. that there should be no additional charge.

  13. OK, I have my tickets (four in fact) and havent missed a home game all season. Firstly, the ticket prices are way too facken high! After you've forked out for a membership, and with living cost high, covid impacts, yadda yadda yadda, its not priced for the everyday punter. Secondly, I'm pissed to see the league now offering discounts to get more numbers .... what about the die hard true fans, shouldn't they get some reward? Third, I'm even more pissed that Maccas are doing free family passes to the GF (via their app) if you spend $15 or more on food ... WTF? If the league was smart (which they aint), they would have priced this to sell out. With tickets so expensive, and with it being on FTA TV, now they have made a rod for their own back. Its an embarrassment that you can get 80k theatre goers to watch Barcelona play a warm up game, and they cant work out how to sell out a GF. Piss Poor
