  2. Do you read over what you write before you post? I mean in what realistic world would fabrigas or Oscar who are currently playing at one of the big clubs in the epl be sitting there thinking "fuck it might give the a league a spin"

  3. Who else has completed the survey that's just gone out? I found it interesting when they asked what we thought Melbourne City stands for. Anyone that feels strongly about the club having a strong Manchester identity rather than Melbourne this is an opportunity to make your feelings known. This is what I wrote: From a football perspective we stand for being a club that plays an attacking brand of football. From an identity stand point that is difficult to answer because on one hand we are suppose to stand for the city of Melbourne but on the other hand we have such a heavy influence on being a part of CFG that it often feels like we are more a representative of Manchester than Melbourne. So I can't answer that accurately because I'm still trying to figure who we actually are, a Melbourne based club owned by CFG or a CFG club based in Melbourne.

  5. If Mooy leaves, would love to see that Oz marquee spot given to Mile.

  6. I’d suggest that whoever they have lined up for Koren’s marquee position is relatively settled or at least the type of player is. Probably a defensive style mid. Reading into that, it wont be an attacking mid a la Mooy as we already have that position nailed down. Hence if Mooy stays, they’ll target Barbarouses as a winger with the spare visa place. If Mooy goes, then the Marquee position, also likely to be a visa player with that opening up will be recruited as a direct swap. The onflow is that the visa position the new midfield marquee will take up will then leave no visa spot to attract Barbarouses. Make sense?

  8. I'd actually watch the Sydney to Hobart if the teams were allowed to board each other's yachts and battle them with cutlasses, and the yachts were equipped with cannons and were allowed to sink each other and then a massive kraken shows up and goes absolutely ballistic and then Keira Knightley is randomly there being hot

  9. Morning Fellas, i've been up all night/morning putting together this video for the City faithful. Pretty straight forward, really. A four minute video showcasing where we've gone right in the past few weeks in the lead up to this Derby, which, touchwood, we should win, comfortably. (30-nil or something like that). To the point, you might not like the start, I didn't exactly have fun putting the opening together myself, but the second part is what's worth living for as we've finally found our HEART (not the shit one). Let me know what you think. Inb4 someone has a moan about the song choice. Let's take back OUR City. Link: https://youtu.be/PduIy1fwQbA

  13. So I completed it. Used it as a platform for what my issues are. I made it clear I wasn't happy about being a mini Man City, of ignoring the supporters wishes, of never telling us officially about Villa etc. Everyone from Man City said "these guys are great, they listen, they care and they are respectful". Sadly that hasn't been the case. Now some will say "oh Sidwell was just as bad". We could have that debate but i don't want to. Just because you believe someone else was well short of the mark is no excuse for the next person to be the same. i want to see them play in red and white at home and sky blue (or whatever) away. Now I know some will say "that will never happen". Maybe, but it sure won't happen if we don't put it forward as the number one reason we feel disenfranchised. Ultimately they can't have it both ways, they can't be a man City clone on one hand, then complain no one accepts them as a Melbourne club on the other.

  14. I reckon. I've never been one that looks as something as worth doing purely based on the results. If the issue is big enough it's worth fighting even if you know you'll lose (tilting at wind mills). The "keep the red & white" campaign was worth fighting regardless of the result, as is constant reminders to CFG that we feel disenfranchised.

  15. Munn and others said at the last FRG meeting that some players are fit enough to do running and other exercise with the group, and maybe some football drills, up to 3 to 4 weeks before they can handle the physical demands of a football match. For example, take this short video of Novillo: As Munn said, players returning from injury are at about "50%" when they start training again, and these players aren't running as fast as they can. And if they ran at 100% (like they have to in A-League football matches) then these recovering players would just break down and re-injure themselves. So in short it can be deceptive how fit players are when one only looks at some photos or videos of players at training. Zullo and James Brown are training, as can be see in photos of training today here http://www.melbournecityfc.com.au/photo-gallery/gallery-melbourne-city-prepare-for-the-melbourne-derby-18qmam5kku7rj10lzl8oxb7zfu (also even Marc Marino is apparently training now), but those players are at least 2 weeks away before they are 100% fit and ready to start playing in matches (and then it even takes a little bit more time before players are "match fit", and can contribute 100% of their quality when they are playing football matches). I think the club are starting to get things right, like they did with Novillo and Franjic. So I'm glad Melbourne City isn't rushing players back from injury, and hopefully players like Zullo can become like Novillo and Franjic by becoming fully fit and not being at real risk of being sidelined due to injury again this season.

  18. I recall reading the exact opposite. That Mooy was under the cap & infact journos were quite clear that he signed for us under the cap despite being offered a marquee deal elsewhere. If we released Koren early, we would pay him out & wouldn't be able to sign a new marquee. The only angle is then we'd have a vacancy for a visa injury replacement . Worth remembering It's notoriously difficult to sign good injury replacements, so I'm not sure we'll be doing this.

  19. I am of the opinion that this simply cannot be done under the rules. There is little point in releasing Koren unless he decides to retire when theoretically another visa player could take his place and we wouldn't have to pay out his contract. However, Koren is paid outside the cap, and I doubt that there is room under the cap to sign a worthwhile replacement for him. The best we can do is sign a top guest player for 14 matches, but we can do that whether an existing player leaves or not.

  20. Retre. Haven't been a fan and felt he was out of his depth but this season has proved to be very valuable. He came on Sunday and really changed things at the start of the second half with his energy and some tidy passing. I would be confident him alongside Paartalu and Mooy lose in the hole will be good enough to get the job done.

  23. Robbie Cornthwaite has been released by his Malaysian club, could be a good replacement for Chapman.

  29. Did Ange say the biggest name or the biggest signing? The two are very different. An EPL star in their mid 20s is a much bigger signing than a big name at the end of their career.

  30. If you ask me the whole thing is a bit of racket. Unis churn out far more graduates than there are places. Those CRT "jobs" may be just a day a fortnight and plenty of competition for them. So if you want a job here are my tips: you need contacts (like @kingofhearts says he has), 99% of people get their jobs this way. Spend every spare moment you have in your course getting those contacts live/work somewhere where schools are growing. A school that is cutting teachers is not going to hire a new one, regardless of how good you are. specialise in the stuff others don't want to do. My guess is maths would be a good choice for instance (most of those "others" are female, pick the stuff they generally don't like)

  37. Yeah I found that question difficult to answer. Mentioned we are probably perceived by many as a mini Man City and that the club is responsible for that perception with the hand me down kit, nsw colours, navy blue emails etc.

  38. Think that this is the truth of it, however FFA have probably never been in the situation where a club would be looking to terminate a marquee player and replace him. Given the A league's position at the minute, it would not surprise me if they allowed us to terminate Koren and sign a replacement marquee in January. The League is practically begging for it.

  42. We could really use a replacement CB, I am not convinced Hughes and Kisnorbo will stay fit for 3 months and Clisby playing the majority of that time makes me cringe

  43. we still don't know exactly what the rule is with releasing a marquee player and being able to replace him with another? Coming up to the midway point of the season now, I'm pretty sure the club realises we've got a bloody good chance of winning the league this season and it would definitely be worth bringing in a big player to replace Koren. Especially when we've got the best player in the country at the moment in Mooy, and having someone like that in this league doesn't come around very often. I think this upcoming transfer window is the perfect time to make a real statement. Will be interesting to see how badly the club wants to win something

  44. Not writing us off that quick. Chapman was far from perfect. Ok we know that the empire has a lot of pace up front & will be looking to hit us hard on the break but from the little I saw of Hughes he reads the game well and is in short an accomplished defender. I think his experience will negate any extra pace chapman had. In addition he will be less of a liability defending set pieces. We have shown we can hurt teams going forward too. #keepthefaith #usetheforce

  45. Yeah if they signed Brown I'd feel good! Anyways imo Victory's stars are Berisha, Delpierre, Finkler and FBK. Barbarouses is good on his day but doesn't have the same class as the others.
