for a second keeper we should get Jerrad Tyson since Covic has signed on at WSW for another season. He would be one of the few keepers who would sign on a base contract that has a-league experience and is actually a half decent keeper, would be perfect for a backup to Redmayne.

Redders is looking better with every game and is going to develop into a top keeper so there's no need to be signing an expensive backup. Tyson is coming off contract at the end of the season and would be great to lock in for 2 seasons.

Best news at the forum was that Germano is close to re-signing!!!!

They are very keen on retaining Garcia, but they didn't seem overly confident on doing it. Fingers crossed.

Fred, Gray and Hoff look to be finished. And I felt that JA and JD will be keen on retaining Colosimo and Thomo.

Transfer window closes on Feb 14 for us and they will be looking to add a central midfielder and fullback (I'm guessing left back, coz they are really happy with Jezza).

Imo Garcia is the best player in the league, and we should do everything possible to re sign him. Jezza impressed me in the derby, so no need for a RB.

i totally agree. however i can see it being tough to resign him. purely due to at times he looks to be in a different post code to the rest of the team and from what i have seen it seems to frustrate him. I could see him looking around elsewhere unless we string some good results together.

Keeping quality players like Garcia comes down to a lot of factors. The ones I think that are important are:

1. Ambition - We simply have to put quality players next to him and prove we are setting ourselves to win the league. No one wants to hang around a club that doesn't win or show they want to win championships. Asian champions league is something he would love on his CV is imagine.

2. National Team recognition - Garcia wants to play for Australia. He loves it and has ambition to play there for as long as possible. If by playing in Australia gives him more exposure to this he will stay.

3. Money & Lifestyle - Pay him the most money we can afford. He should be our most expensive player. With a few retirements and players being released that are on massive salaries this can be accommodated. He loves Melbourne, he's back in his country so he's comfortable. Maybe work hard getting him some sponsorship deals and business opportunities would suffice.

I think it's so important we keep our core next year. With Mate coming back next year and a few new signings its positive. Lose Garcia and it won't be.

Get Jeremy Walker and Vrankovic tied down long term to 3 or 4 year contracts. Surely we can pay them $75k for 3 years and reap the reward in the long term.

While we're at it Kalmar and Germano should be given another 2 years.

We have the nucleus of a very good team, just need to sort out our form on the road and get a centre back in to work with Vranks next season and unleash Paddy in the middle, unless Meeuwis comes good.

These next 4-5 games left should determine which players stay and which players go.

Players need pressure to perform and our run home is just that... Is far as I'm aware basically the whole team is fit with the exception of Mate... So no excuses both for JA as coach and the players..

Quite simple.... PERFORM OR YOUR OUT....

The other thing that ought to be added is Munn's recent comment that '...we have re-signed all the youngsters we wanted to.' It's not clear precisely what he means by that, but presumably the re-signings include Sam Mitchinson, whom JA said we wanted to retain.

We will have to wait for some official announcements before we can be sure.

There's no way known Kalmar could justify another contract. He's in the same boat as Hoffman

Yeah, except Kalmar can play.

He can, but only when the team is playing well. He is too slow and goes missing when we need to fight and scrap for a result.

much better player than hoffman and has actually shown that he can dominate games and shown a lot of potential. Although there's a question of his consistency.

the thing with kalmar is i wouldn't think he's on that much money, and the club has to weigh up whether we can find a player on the cheap that can prove himself in the a-league and perform better than kalmar on a consistent basis. The positive about kalmar is he HAS proven himself in this competition, and is familiar with the club and is already settled in.

Sometimes you need players in the squad who are on cheap salaries as just "squad players" who you can bring in a few times a season and they will do a job, and IMO kalmar has been that player for us this year where he's been brought into the squad and was probably responsible for 6-7 points this season.

He's definitely made an impact, so we can't be thinking that we're necessarily going to find better players out there for the type of money he's on that can make a similar impact. Someone like hoffman who in 3 seasons has done aboslutely nothing is a totally different story.

LOL

article in tomorrows Herald saying hoffman is close to re-signing.

Tadic and Babalj may be heading back to Europe. Garcia wants to stay, long term too, stating he is happy at the club, is a little dissopointed that there hassnt been an offer yet, saying he is used to around christmas time offers get offered.

Also they are trying to work out a role for Bolton, he seems to want to stay in some capacity (on or off field)

I guess because we have a tiny club they might have put off all the re-signings until the end of the season after a full review or something. I mean you would hope that but who the fuck knows. But im prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt considering its really only JD and JA who would handle this and JA has been pre-occupied blaming refs

Ummm Josip and Germano?

also not sure about Kalamr...

VISA spots could be put to better use.

Kalmar was easily one of our best players this season.

well last time i checked Josip was one of the best in the league, even with a supply line which includes Roffman and Thompson.

Not sure about the other 2 TBH.

Germano is on minimum wage which should be considered, but i think that we could find better also.

Kalmar is very inconsistent. at his best hes MOTM and at his worst hes subbed off at 60'.

germano, dugandzic, kalmar re-signed on for next season (at least), not sure on the details/length of the contracts.

Post link plz.

If true Fred, Meeuwis and Tadic must go for three high quality imports. The club has already stated they're spending more money on the on-field side of the club and with Colosimo, Thompson, Bolton, Frec etc. on the way out there will be a lot of money lying around to get them.

"THE futures of experienced Melbourne Heart quartet Fred, Simon Colosimo, Matt Thompson and Richard Garcia will be decided in the next fortnight....

While Mate Dugandzic, Jonatan Germano and Nick Kalmar have been stitched up for next season and Jason Hoffman is on the verge of agreeing,...

Garcia, who scored Heart's consolation goal in Saturday's 2-1 loss at Central Coast to take his season tally to six - equal top with Tadic - admitted he was disappointed not to have been offered a deal yet"

At http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/football/melbourne-heart-coy-on-stars-futures/story-fndcvh7n-1226610479560

Well. There we go. Obviously Jason Hoffman is a needed player. No comment. What about Richard Garcia, one of our best performers all season?
