It did win best picture not that means much. Yeah. I find that a lot of movie s from that era to be a bit the same. While i am sure they were ground breaking at the time, they dont age well. Taxi Driver for example. While i dont think either is a bad film and i am glad i watched them, neither are the type that i would say to someone "you HAVE to see this movie!" Taxi driver for me still is pretty good so too Godfather 1 & 2. Recently I did Raging Bull again and that too is decent.

Will def have to watch that Goodfellas is my favourite film so I also rate it above the Good Godfathers and same deal with Scarface and Casino... the Godfathers are great but they were written by a bloke who knew nothing about the Mob which is hurts them authenticity of parts of the films. The funniest thing when you watch early 90's movies these days is how annoying the Epic Movie Scores are in the background as it was really the peak of producers hiring PPL to write Movie long scores... think Braveheart for probably the easiest one to remember automatically or if anyone is old enough the show Twin Peaks. In late 90's the industry moved away from this and started buying song from cheaper artists to the point that a few JJJ bands songs even popping up here and there in some weird films and often for some weird reason on The OC. Now days mainstream Artists cant be picky when PPL ask for their songs and so Movie Long Epic Scores have become a bit of a relic. Oh man i fucking hate the epic movie length scores! I find them really patronising like someone holding up cue cards with how you are supposed to be feeling at the time throughout the whole movie. I also hate the recent trend of lengthy scenes with nothing but ultra unrealistic, high def, loud explosive sounds effects in action movies (like Transformers) Edited March 2, 2016 by KSK_47

mattyh001
Have seen Deadpool and enjoyed it although not the best in the Marvel Universe Just got back from watching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Thought the title summed it up well for the main aspects of the film. The film was disappointing but for the title fight, largely because the film is the setup film (aka quite literally the dawn) of the Justice League film universe. Little chemistry, largely drawn out, not enough emotion in the right spots. It does hint towards the history between the Joker and Robin, which does setup intrigue around the upcoming Suicide Squad movie as well as any future batman movies
GreenSeater
Just finished watching Suicide Squad. I will never understand how a movie with so many great actors (most of whom actually put in good performances), awesome special effects and an incredible soundtack can be such a fucking horrible film. The only thing stopping me from falling asleep through most of it was Margot Robbie in hot pants.
Jimmy
Saw the Netflix exclusive "Special Correspondents". Reviews make it out to be the worst film ever. It has massive pacing issues and does lack a lot of laughs for what's meant to be a comedy, but I'm a big Ricky Gervais fan so I was never gonna hate it. Is a pretty easy watch, I'd recommend it for just having on when you just want to switch off. I can't really give it a rating tbh, nothing seems fair. Recommend if you like Gervais?? Also am currently working through every film with Kevin Spacey in it. Watched "The Negotiator" for the first time and holly shit is it a fun flick. The story can be pretty retarded and unrealistic at times, but you get that with these big budget action films. What makes it is the 10/10 chemistry between Spacey and Samuel L. Jackson. Great acting. Also has some cool action sequences and some lols. Probably a 7/10 film. Recommend. Last night I watched "Horrible Bosses" (another Spacey film). Pretty fucking tripe. Spacey gives a good performance (has he ever been bad?) But it's a pretty broken film. It never really amounts to anything and I just couldn't buy into the whole premise of these people going from good guys to being fully prepared to commit murder in about 15 minutes. Now I'm just a country hick who was exposed to nothing but unfiltered racism and sexism growing up, and I'm the complete opposite of a SJW. But even I found this film to be a bit OTT sexist/woman bashing. All the female characters are cheating whores, dumb as fuck, a walking fat joke or a straight up Nympho. 4/10. Do not recommend. Still think American Beauty is his best work. He's phenomenal in that film. Although his work in House of Cards would have to be a very close second
Jimmy
My personal favorite performance from him is probably in Se7en, absolutely stole the show. But even knowing he's in the film before watching it would probably ruin the impact he has.

KSK_47
I watched white men cant jump for the first time since the 90s. Man that movie is so much shitter than i remember. And woody harrelsons dunk at the end was so anticlimactic. I remember it being so good but it was such a wack white guy dunk. "Billy! You so stoooopid!" carlings
Patriots Day - Told the story of the bombings quite factually and did't go too over the top. Although being an all American movie there were of course guns blazing and wise cracks that still appeared every now and then. The recreations of the bombings were masterfully done, as were the real life interviews as the credits rolled on. Exceeded my expectations 7/10 Edited February 9, 2017 by carlings
