Do we know who is on scholarships?

No and I’m not convinced that we’ll find out. What they’re aiming to do is make all academies fully professional. That was the rationale behind the move to nine scholarship places from six, eventually/hopefully it’ll be a full squad.

Scholarship players aren’t really full professionals in that they don’t have A-League contracts, so we shouldn’t include them in this roster. They sit on the Y-League roster.

So not being full professional does that mean they don't train full time with the squad?

But where is the announcement that Jw mentioned? When did they announce he is a pro contracted player. Being on a scholarship doesn't mean you won't be in a match day squad list.

Not a match day list, the lists of players that have been published over the last couple of months. The dates of the published lists are in @jw1739‘s table above.

I’m 100 per cent certain that he is a senior contracted player and so are Najjarine, Najjar and Iannucci.

ok if you are 100 percent certain then I guess I can't argue with that. Just curious as to why it's never been announced by the club. I'll say this though. If he isn't senior contracted then city are getting huge value for money. The kid is a gun.

No doubt. They’ve been transparent regarding the squad which has been nice, but a little slack when it comes to some of the younger players and their contract situations.

I was hoping to see some news in that space but the best we’ve got are those squad announcements. But they’re basically confirmation anyway.

That's good then that leaves 9 scholarships positions available.

@Harrison I'll reinstate the asterisks and the dates of those lists later today, plus the date of the most recent list - I had thought that they were no longer necessary, but clearly they are.

Like you I am 100% certain that Metcalfe, Najjarine, Najjar and Iannucci are senior contracted players.

I agree that it would be good to know more about the youth players. And for sure, out-of-date information should be deleted from the club's web-site. However, in recent weeks I've realised just how many young players there are donning City colours, so it would be a big task to keep information on every one of them current. New players emerge almost every week. For example, the average age of a recent City NPL team was just 16-and-a-half.

So IMO it is not reasonable to keep tabs on everyone, but what is reasonable is that what the Club does publish should be up-to-date.

Joe Gauci is a strange one. Was signed for the Mariners for 2 seasons, but was released after 1. From all reports his performances were far below the keepers they already had, which isn't a good sign.

Doubt he will ever see a senior game, but ah well maybe our "scouts" so something in him

I wouldn't be super worried about Gauci, was playing NPL level football at 17 in South Australia which is a lot higher than most GK's get tested at that age. With Eugene, Birghitti and Delianov all out I'd say we were due to sign another keeper regardless as Taleb will be on a lot of international duty this year.

On the money with Windbichler and Noone.

My dream of a 1-11 roughly in the right order is slipping away, although Maclaren buggered it up when he took 29.

Went pretty close at one point on the weekend.

Had 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 11 on the pitch all at once.

It's the little things.

Brilliante possibly to Mumbai in Transfer window. Seems Like City are leading on this move. Maybe His wage is not affordable for next season and they want to keep him around in case things change. also states that ISL teams need 1 x Asian player. Tough A league Defenders seem popular. Not sure but in general the ISL players are lighter so some aussie muscle seems like what they are after.

This was the Brillante plan from the start, he’s mentioned this in early interviews - one or two years in Melbourne and then overseas. Not surprised.

So it is a good thing if the player wanted it. I wish him luck.
