A very good win considering the circumstances, we didn't play well, I hate Wazza's derby tactics but there's no denying that they were effective.

Positives:

A win away, unbeaten in our last 7 opening games (so no predictive value for the season).

A win away when we played poorly, especially the first half, but better resilience, it wasn't that long ago that we would have lost that game.

de Laet, a real box to box wide player that reads the game well and is very composed. A Belgian with a Manchester accent, and a marquee performance tonight!

Exquisite through ball from Brattan, already guaranteed to make the assist of the year shortlist

7 players away with the Young Socceroos and 4 starting 11 players missing so I expect better performances are to come.

Good post-match interview from Wazza

Great derby crowd, 40,000

Top of the ladder tonight

Negatives:

A very disjointed performance, especially in the first half, but fully mitigated by the last minute team selection changes. La Rocca made a surprise appearance from his deathbed.

Baccus poor in the first half, better in the second

Sat far too deep defending a 1 goal lead, the visit0rs are most dangerous when you let them dictate the game.

One dimensional attack down the right wing in the first half, easily contained by the visit0rs defenders. It was hard to see what our match tactics actually were

Hysterical Fox commentary, it was a clear penalty. It wasn't even decided by the VAR team, it was confirmed by the ref on video review. Fox team had written us off before the game (and after)

Berenguer offered little and missed his pen, Caceres did even less (mitigated by late team changes)

I think so to man, it didnt look like much but it looked like he got a push at the same time.

What about the arm on Bruno's shoulder/upper arm before the push?

Defenders pull this shit all the time.  Without VAR he would have been happy enough with a free outside the box.  Bur with the VAR it became a penalty.
