Going to be a long season. Had a great opportunity here and blew it. Joyce too long in making substitutions and then when we were chasing the game takes a forward off and puts on a wing back that made a huge difference. Now that this teams has lost may be he will change it and play the visa players. But if he continues with this team as he has done in the all competitive cup games games will be lucky to finish in the top 2.

This was an issue for Joyce last season, many times he made no subs at all. Several times he brought on defensive subs when we were chasing the game

Can't draw too many conclusions from one game, especially when we don't play our strongest team

When there is an opportunity to get to a semi final and give the team momentum and confidence going into the season why would you not play your best team?

Yep 2 years in a row he’s made wrong team selection last year he played Fitzgerald up top instead of Cahill and this time Wales starting 🙄

To his credit, I thought Wales was outstanding. Bit of a dilemma here because O'Halloran also showed why he should start. Vidosic should be the one to miss out, but I think he's too important to our structure.

Atkinson is also way too loose sorry and turns it over way too much. De Laet will instantly fix this when he's up and going.

You can all crap on about subs, but whilst he won us the last two games but Bruno's misses are what cost us the game. Pure and simple. Should not have been 2-0 down. Very hard to break down a team like WSW when they're a couple of goals up.

Indeed. Wales looked OK, it was Bruno who missed a pen and a couple of other chances. We should have scored two before their first. But we looked shapeless, disjointed and lacking in ideas all too often.

I agree I thought Wales was good. But why is Vidosic so important to the structure. If this was the case why was he taken off for a wingback. I see no reason why O'Halloran should not start on the left wing if Wales is right.

I disagree, the subs were the problem because we cannot rely only on Bruno to score. So if WSW took their chances we could have lost by 4 or 5. Needed more attacking players on the park when chasing the game not defenders.

Don’t really care about winning FFA Cup. But imagine bringing on De Laet to chase the game - on the wing before our actual wingers that were on the bench. When he came on, I thought he’d slot into a back three, pushing our full backs further up the pitch... Then we see him playing ahead of Jamieson. Makes no sense.

I've said it before, I think Vidosic has a dual importance. He's our main outlet from goalkicks and he's our best aerial threat from set pieces.

..but I don't think he works to the ball hard enough. I agree totally - start O'Halloran and on tonight's performance, Wales too.

The sub one is difficult because let's be honest, we were all over them in the second half. But they also made it hard for us to go forward.

That first half was a shambles.

We will agree to disagree on the subs as in my humble opinion they were amateurish

I'm not saying the subs were perfect. Indeed , I don't understand why it wasn't O'Halloran for Vidosic. But they're not the reason we lost. Bruno and the first half was.

BTW, I love the speed of O'Halloran. He has that ability to just knock his first touch past a player and then sprint past them to get to the ball. Awesome and will be a real weapon.

If we count their chances and Bruno's chances and they all went in we would have lost, it's not about missed chances it is about creating more chances either for him to miss and score

Sorry, but now you're just wrong mate.

A missed pen, squandered tap in, missed header all in the space of minutes. Would have been 3-0 and game over. Tell me they don't count...

My last word, yes they do not count because they were missed chances. As i said before it's is about creating more chances, the only stat that counts at the end of the game is goals 1v2. The more chances you create the greater opportunity to change that stat. Bruno must be dropped because he missed so many chances and lost us the game (jest). I still believe the substitutions cost us the game by not putting players on to create more chances for Bruno because he just may have put one of them away. Thanks Razz for the banter.

1. Luke Brattan put in an astonishingly bad performance tonight.

2. I dont know why the slightly older kiddies who used to be at the front of the terrace are now right up the back yelling pointless crap at the even younger kiddies at the front, but I wish you'd all sort your shit out sooner rather than later. The rest of us just want to drink beer and sing.

Very disappointing result in front of a miserable crowd reported as a mere 1,800. FMD, the atmosphere was funereal.

IMO a number of players in the starting XI don't deserve to keep those places based on tonight:
- Atkinson was loose in the first half and I put a question mark against his name;
- Brattan oh so slow and directly responsible for WSW's second goal;
- Griffiths made a number of very poor passes;
- Vidosic just didn't get into the match at all.

Ball movement painfully slow all evening.

For me Wales had a good match - can't see why he cops so much criticism. I would have a forward line of Wales, Fornaroli and O'Halloran. Fornaroli was out of sorts but we have no alternative. McGree was OK, and I'd try Berenguer or Caceres alongside him. De Laet has to come in and Jamieson, Schenkeveld and Delbridge have to hold their places.

As I thought he would, Joyce waited too long to make his substitutions. And bringing on Caceres in the 90th minute was bizarre.

Probably a good thing that we were beaten TBH. One defeat isn't a reason to panic, but it should make Joyce aware that he may need to make changes if we are to have an impact on the League this season.

Edit: Crowd now being reported as 4,191.
