I could be wrong about that, not sure.

Of course, the time the club has been in existence needs to be taken into account, but WSW were formed after us. Doesn't tell the whole story, but it's indicative as far as it goes. 47 minutes ago, HEARTinator said: Under Wazza we have a team dedicated to neutralising the opposition and then pinching a goal somewhere but on Saturday night having the deadly duo of Mauk/Kamau start up front was a failure. Only with Ross' The Boss' getting second half game time did we really look threatening on goal. But geez even then, why do we insist on not honoring the runs that McCormack offers. So here Jakobsen with the ball could split the defence with McCormack on side and starting to make a run behind the defenders. But fcuk no, Jakobsen decides to play a safe ball to Bratts to his right who then passes it wider to Fitzy and within a few more touches the whole forward movement collapses with no shot on goal. This is a common problem where we lack imagination, inventiveness or just the guts to go forward. Nothing wrong with McCormack but everything wrong with the mindset of players around him. Maybe Wazza likes it this way? Jakobsen is not a midfielder, full stop.

Maybe Wazza likes it this way? Totally agree, but another massive thing wrong with this play was that Kamau was moving centrally and dragging defender back in rather than trying to act as a decoy to open up space for Ross. Hence Jakobsen had less space for the through ball if he was going to play it at all. If we had smart players in the forward third things would be different, but the fact is with Mauk, Kamau and even Fitzgerald(to a lesser extent), our CF will always struggle to get quality service on the break.

Maybe Wazza likes it this way? From the footage, any ball through on the first photo looks like a very plausible offside against McCormack - might happen, might not, maybe Jakobsen saw it, maybe not. Add to that how slow we have been at times and how both our left and right backs push into vacant space, I'm sure Joyce has encouraged direct forward balls in the front third only when it's largely a sure thing. From the second photo, Bratten has Atkinson definitely down the right, with Jamieson most probably on left (out of screen). Not saying its perfect or the best way option (I do think we are too slow with our build up sometimes), just maybe there's logic behind it

From memory this was the type of pass that destroyed us last season, over and over and over again. Oooohhh the memories.
