Lately maybe last year or so the wingback role has comeback into vouge. But to play wingback is a specialist role it's not just making a traditional fullback attack more or a winger to defend it takes time to develop the skill but more so the awareness.

Even Guardiola had to bring in specialists after trying to convert proved difficult.

FWIW I'm not anti wingback infact 352 is my favourite formation going back to Argentina in 86.

So playing Brandan and Fitzy as wingbacks is fundamentally flawed.

Exactly.

For the record I like 433, but specifically how Jupp Heynckes had Bayern playing.

Brandan can't defend, you want him to play LB? Remember him rolling around on the ground costing us a goal?

Fitzy isn't the greatest either?

Just showing off our strongest squad, probably doesn't mean it would play as our strongest.

That team and system was unbelievable especially with Robben and Ribery at their absolute peak of their powers.

I reckon it's the best football I have seen, they did have a phenomenal squad though.

Our strongest squad has to work as a team, at least have 2 DM to cover the fullbacks and circulate the ball in possession.

Don't mean to come across as a dick.

86 was the first time I watched a world cup, on black and white telly!

Tough gig on the B&W. From memory it was the the first World Cup fully televised by SBS. Was just an amazing time for me watching so many live top top quality games.

A hand me down for my own room, I agree, a great memory.

I don't know if it was the first WC on SBS, I think there was one before it?

Reported in the Birmingham Mail 2 days ago. I'd guess that an announcement is imminent on Monday or Teusday next week.

"It will also be a good move for him in a different environment.

"We spoke at the training ground the other day and he said everything was likely to be finalised over the next couple days."

Fwiw Gatt suggested on twitter it would likely be Friday...
