Cloudworm
Hi All, bit left-field this.... as a relatively well-travelled sports fan, I've come to learn over the years that football forums are generally great places to get information from locals about their beloved cities (don't bother with TripAdvisor etc any more), so here goes. Coming over for The Ashes and looking for a decent pub (not hotel or restaurant) for Christmas dinner. Has to be a bit family friendly, but the fewer kids the better to be honest. Appreciate any help you can offer. cheers.

hedaik
Having your Christmas at the pub is not really a thing here like it is in England, majority will be shut. The pubs that are open for the day though will offer some kind of lunch package for $100 or whatever and probably not worth what you pay as staff are on something like triple pay. I'd suggest going down to the park and soaking up the hopeful sun instead.
jw1739
Not much at all will be open on Christmas Day as you can see here: http://www.onlymelbourne.com.au/open-christmas-day#.WaE9ID4jGiQ You can get an idea of what the various hotels in the city were offering in 2016 here https://whatsonblog.melbourne.vic.gov.au/guide-christmas-day-dining-melbourne/ and I doubt any of those would suit you. The only place I can see that might meet your requirements is the Wharf Hotel https://www.wharfhotel.com.au/whats-on. It's offering a 2-course Christmas lunch for $65 and you can book by e-mail. I've never been there, so you'd be taking pot luck. Hopefully you'll get some more replies.
bt50
I reckon @hedaik is on the money. Head down to your local green area and have a bbq and a couple of tins.
Tony999
I thought my question would be best suited in this thread as it has "pub" in it. So, anyone know which pub in the northern suburbs is screening the Mayweather v Mcgregor fight?
GreenSeater
A nice place on Chapel St called Revolver. Nice Thai restaurant with a fairly casual dancefloor upstairs if you want a boogie. Good for all ages.
