I think he is still a left back, he went on a winger cause fitzy needed a break and not to disrupt the back 4 I think that's all

Wazza said he didn't start cause he has hardly trained since WSW game

So can't read too much into it

Well maybe, but He also played as a winger against Sydney so that's the last 2 games I've seen.

This guy has slipped well under the radar and has been one of our shittest performers. He has been utterly useless this whole season. Was caught not concentrating last week against Perth where we copped a goal, he lost his man last night at the back post. He's shocking going forward and has stifled so much forward momentum during games. Even last night in the dying minute instead if whipping in a cross with his left from the wing he stops and crosses it with his right, allowing the tards defense to man up our attackers. Shocking performances on a consistent basis. If there's a young player that can play there he needs to be dropped.

100% disagree.

Has had a few poor games lately but to overreact and say that he's been shit all season is completely wrong.

He does need a bit of a kick up the bum but their are bigger culprits in our team leading to our poor performances

I agree. For me the disappointing thing about Jamo is that he seems reluctant to get forward as he was earlier in the season. He's actually quite a good crosser of the ball on his left foot. Also takes a good in-swinging corner and free-kick from the RW - rather like Colazo - if given the opportunity. Why Brattan takes most of these dead-ball kicks is totally beyond me, because he's absolutely useless at doing so.

Yes certainly a slight exaggeration on the back of a shit night, but not far from the truth though. Its plainly obvious Jamo has received next to no scrutiny at all this season. In fact the last post in this thread before mine was back on October 8th last year. And I'm pretty sure every other player besides him has had the magnifying glass put on them at least once this season.

Look no doubt he has been solid defensively for a number of games, no doubt at all there. But I still hold onto the points I made about his poor qualities. He may be a good bloke and all but had Muscat or Malik made the same mistakes and also stifled so many forward moves they'd be copping an absolute pasting on every social media platform.

Brattan needs to take a break from free kicks. I recon Arzani would be far better.

I think that it's hard to judge the performance of a player in isolation, especially when the team is playing so poorly. For instance, Brattan is often criticised for dwelling on the ball too long and slowing down the play but there are so few players in a space and moving that it's difficult to find someone to pass the ball to. Jamo's movement should depend on the movement of players around him (if we are playing with any sort of structure, and on the tactics for each opponent), so unless he specifically struggling with Wazza's 'tactics' then the issue lies with his instructions and the disorganisation of the players around him

Fuck this being a good bloke shit, idgaf if hes a cunt in his spare time. I just want him to be a good football player.

You cannot say however that Scotty J has made as many errors or been anywhere near as poor as the two players you mentioned (Malik has been playing better of late however, so i'm happy to concede that)

Is their legitimate criticisms of Scotty J? Yes. Is he as culpable for our performances of late compared to others on the team? No.

For some people the fact he is a good bloke does affect their judgement of him I beleive.

My point is if Manny or Malik had not concentrated like he did against Perth or let George get behind him at the back post they would have been hammered. Hell even Kamau was blamed for Perths winning goal when he couldn't defend Taggarts header.

Add on top that he has made countless errors going forward such as the wrong passes, breaking down forward momentum, rarely penetrating etc. I don't hold Jamo entirely culpable for our performances as of late. I'd also blame a host of others that already receive plenty of heat regarding their performances. But he is without doubt as culpable for our performances as any other player and definitely culpable for the final result in the end of the last two games.

Wide players need to learn that sometimes they need to play a first ball in, quick and decisive.

It does 3 things

1. Stops the opposition from getting back and organised

2. Drags defenders out because there isn't enough time for their midfield to man mark the wide player

3. Creates time and space in the box which increases scoring and assist opportunities

All our wide players are guilty of this slow ball movement and as result the ball goes round and back and the opportunity is lost.

I am afraid Jamieson is guilty of this more often than not.

Mate all our players are at fault for slow ball movement not just wide.

The question is why?.

The way I see it is the mindset of the team. They seem to more concerned about not losing the ball rather than being gutsy and trying the riskier option. And in reality most riskier balls are less dangerous if intercepted than safer square balls or back passes. If you miss hit a forward through ball your less likely to get caught on the counter than a miss hit square ball or back pass.

At the moment we don't have a clear identifiable style. We sort of have a combination of slow possession based with the occasional long ball direct but we don't do either good enough to be effective.

He's one of the club's nominations for "Player of the Month."

Ahh fair to say last night “wasn’t his best game”.

What was he, 0/100 accuracy from crosses?

his touch let him down a couple of times too.

Was anyone else any better? So many over-hit deep crosses. We were a pale shadow of what we saw against Newcastle last week.

True but he's been doing much better recently and is reflective of the team as a whole clicking together as well. Without being amazing I thought he did some good stuff last night in moments.

1/100. He finished up with an assist. Shit cross tbf but Bruno still controlled it and scored

My mistake!

Well I guess that’s all you need. Sitting vaguely in front of his misdirected crosses in the first half is where I got my stats from. Good positioning to get the ball after a good team attacking movement and then.....

I guess it's how any particular person looks at the game. I thought positively about all of our back four apart from a their bit of panic in added time and thought Brattan was slow and indirect, whereas you didn't. That's what makes the pre- and post-match discussion lively and entertaining. Be a shame if we all agreed all the time.

Bit like girls really...each of us fancies different ones...

Worth noting that Scott wore the armband last night. No real surprise, it was likely to be him or Vidosic this year and you could definitely make a case that giving it to Jamo makes sense as he's more likely to be playing week in and week out, where as Vidosic's position (if Arzani comes back) is a bit more hotly contested.

Think Jamo has the makings to be a good captain for the club, plays for the crest, expects a lot of his teammates and isn't afraid to be vocal on the pitch.

While he hasn't been great at all, do we have a replacement for him at left back? Delbridge played there early in season and looked terrible, Pierias an option maybe

This has bugged me all season. We didn’t sign any other specialist LB, so if SJ did go down we’d have to use HD or RDL there. But that weakens us in their vacated position.

Our squad has always had deficiencies.

I was thinking the same. Pierias could be an option. Apparently he has played at LB in the youth from time to time.

Certainly makes it difficult but we could have signed a backup quite cheaply instead of signing another CM.

Now that Malik's been released then we are a fair bit more balanced in that position. Anyways Jamo hasnt been great this season, but he's not been awful either. Fuck i remember what our FB issues were like only as far back as two seasons ago.

I’ve never thought SJ was a good LB but I do think he is serviceable. We could do better but we could do a lot worse.

Not sold on him being captain either but I think he handles himself quite well and sets a good example.

I also don't join with this continual bagging of Jamieson. I don't think he's as bad as people are making him out to be.

I think he's a bit like the club; he's far better than what we had, but we expected more so we feel more disappointed than we did before when expectations were low.
