The stats only back up what even the most casual of viewers have been saying for months. Worthless possession and lack of attacking urgency. Dire viewing at its finest.

Surely a few Joyce Out chants and banners/signs at the Derby

Only way they wont be disassembled is waving them at a Victory home game.

“I mean the concerning thing as well is they did switch the angle of attack on a few occasions and had the opportunity to play the ball in between the lines but they didn’t do it. So that’s concerning and that’s really somewhere where they have to find a lot more urgency and take risks, just play that ball in there.”

This is what made the partnership between Novillo, Mooy and Bruno so good. Bruno weaved between defenders and Mooy was looking for that killer pass to Bruno. And Harry just barged his way past defenders and had a crack on goal. We don't have that approach under Joyce. This can be rectified but it's clearly not happening under Warren. He's had enough time to get it right. Well past his use by date.

Theres no better protest than not rocking up at all.

Ok so we have the Serb Hair Dresser confirming but we still need the following:

  • Indian Uber Driver (Hybrid Camry, still smells, 4.4 rating)
  • Lady in Burka on the Sunbury Line (must have 16 kids name Mohammed, all spelt differently)
  • Southern Italian Cafe Owner (must have photo of his hometown on a wall and drink limoncello)
  • Unemployed Croatian in early 50's (must smoke meat in shed, extra salty)
  • Polish Handy Man (must be extremely Catholic but hate the current pope)
  • Washed Up Post Festival Real Estate Agent Skank (tight skirt, red lipstick, doesn't talk)
  • Inner City Range Rover Kindy Mum (must "dream" of moving to Paris while not discipling ugly little children)
  • Demin Dungaree Chapel Street Poofta (must sleep till 2pm, work part-time in marketing and only drink moscato with brie and coles brand water crackers).
  • Average Joe Anglo with two first names (Works at Telstra, just married 6/10 high school Mrs, house & land package 200kms from the city, can actually watch Test Cricket)

If I've missed anyone please feel free to add to the list.

I have no idea what made CFG appoint Joyce. For me it has Marwood's fingerprints all over it. Joyce's style is the total opposite of the style of play the club should be playing. I hope the club gets rid of him before the derby, but it is very unlikely.

@silva10

Managing director of City Football Services Brian Marwood led Joyce's recruitment and is confident he will make an impact.

"Warren Joyce is a manager who sees football as a way of life, not a job,” Marwood said.

This was carried in multiple newspapers at the time. Joyce is clearly Marwood's choice. He's certainly "made an impact" alright, but not in the right way.

Actually, as @bt50 has pointed out, he's a good bloke, a good raconteur, and he's sincere in his desire for City to be a winning team. If you look at his footballing career he has some great stories to tell about his playing days, and there are some good messages there. It's just that he hasn't turned out to be a particularly good manager - like many other people are not good managers. There's no need to abuse him as a person.

living off your past isnt a way of life!! good talk (with PR people scripting everything for you) isnt a way of life!!!

living off a reputation of being a ManU academy coach doesnt make you a great manager. In fact it was the people around him who take the credit. He had a great scouting network who made him look beyond great. Once his time is done here I`m also certain NO OTHER CLUB will even blink an eye at him!!

Couldnt agree more about abusing him as a person, no need for it!!

They are probably all naturalised Australians or or 1st gen Australians. I am one of them and deeply offended by your characterisation of me. Very racist view IMO.

manager because of his national origin

No, he is English on a working visa to be allowed to work here, is not Australian, born in England, lives in England and will go back to England when pisses off from this club. It's not racism, it's truth, it's where he lives.

Just stop being triggered by your own delusional bullshit.

You should be ashamed of yourself according to your own standard.

No. Not at all. I am of the opinion that major mistakes have been made this season, and Joyce has made plenty. I'm just encouraging people to play the ball and not the man.

Probably because there's a good chance they'd come off second best.

City boss Joyce fighting to avoid the axe

FEBRUARY 15, 2019

Besieged Melbourne City coach Warren Joyce is fighting for his job, with club chiefs weighing up their options as they prepare for Saturday’s Melbourne derby.

Last Friday’s horror loss to Newcastle Jets has set off alarm bells with City Football Group and has prompted internal meetings about Joyce’s future.

It’s understood that City chiefs contemplated pulling the trigger this week, but it appears that Joyce will lead his under-performing team into action against second-place Melbourne Victory at Marvel Stadium.

A heavy loss or unconvincing display could spell the end of Joyce’s whose City contract expires at the end of this A-League season in May.

City chiefs are understood to have earmarked assistant coach, former Socceroo Tony Vidmar, as the caretaker should Joyce depart.

It is unclear whether banished striker Bruno Fornaroli would be welcomed back to the fold if Vidmar was to take over.

Club chiefs set Joyce, a former Wigan Athletic and Manchester United youth team coach, a goal of finishing inside the top three and/or qualify for the Asian Champions League.

However the style of play is at the core of City chiefs’ discontent, more so than the results – although they sit precariously in fifth spot – along with the poor crowds and fan discontent.

A woeful run of one win in seven games has seen seventh-place Newcastle Jets draw to within six points of City.

Joyce has twice come close to facing the axe at City – just over a year ago when the club was in the midst of a disastrous run, before Daniel Arzani almost single-handedly reignited their season.

He was under immense pressure earlier this season, after the Round 3 home horror show to Sydney FC.

While results have improved since, a section of City fans have continued to campaign for Joyce’s sacking, claiming that the mystery suspension of Fornaroli is part of a trend that has claimed fellow fan favourites Tim Cahill, Fernando Brandan and Neil Kilkenny.

Joyce joined chief executive Scott Munn and captain Scott Jamieson at a fan engagement event last week and was well received, but the manner of the Jets loss has again heaped pressure on the coach.

Traction finally!

Pretty obvious for all, but if this line has any truth it just proves Joyce is just the start of our issues: "However the style of play is at the core of City chiefs’ discontent".

Um, why wasn't the style addressed last season? Style has been a HUGE issue since this guy practically started. It is just so obvious the guy is out of his depth, has the wrong style, turned off so many of our top tier players (including guys who bring fans through the door) in a short time - and they STILL are hesitant!

If Style is the 'core' issue - the bloke who put him there should go too. This bloke is a butcher who knows little else.

Now they have put us in a position where we have to secretly follow the tards? Geezus.

just a little too late now to sack Joyce, should've sacked him as soon as Jamie was signed so we could pair Bruno and Jamie upfront :tooth:

I think history shows that CFG are reluctant to fire anyone unless they can see no other option.

I'm assuming his excuse was I didn't have the players, but same time everyone does say cfg play a certain way except here

I actually think we try to play in a very similar formation as Manchester City (the City way). They always play with one central striker, either Jesus or Aguero (they rarely play together), the big difference is that Manchester has an array of creative attacking midfielders behind this, think about De Bruyne or the Silva’s. This is where is goes wrong with us.

We just haven’t have the players for it. T

It may be repetitive but dammit I want accountable from whoever put him in this position in the first place. By all accounts Marwood had a big say in this and a review of his position should be held. It was obvious to many that bringing an English coach in was questionable due to the philosophy of football they tend to play and it's all come to a head now.
