I reckon Mikel Arteta is the raging favourite if we go down a foreign coach path.

I would've thought that Guardiola would have something to say about that. He did hire him in order to utilise his knowledge in the Premier League, after all. Can't see him agree to sign off on one of his most prized assets after barely 12 months.

I suspect that Arteta is very much a Guardiola appointment and not a CFG one. CFG clearly like trying to turn the star players who retire with them into future managers, but I strongly suspect that Arteta will be considered part of Pep's stable and will leave when he leaves Manchester, however long that may be, to follow Pep to his next job.

You're quite probably right. Tbh i tend to think the Arnold whispers are the most likely and that's who we'll go for, but based on the Viera appointment I would have suggested that Arteta seemed the most likely on face value if we were to go down the foreign path. The friendship between Timmy and Mikel is peripheral, but would appeal to Mikel I'd have thought.
Still, you'd have a much better idea of what's going on behind the scenes over there than what i would. :)

From what I remember of the Huddersfield Town forums. I got the impression that he essentially turned down an assistant role under (close friend?) Klopp at Liverpool to take the reigns at Huddersfield.

He seems to pretty highly rated in England, but I will eat my own hat if he ended up here. Huddersfield may not be the most glamourous club, but I get the impression that he is the type who has a clear career path in mind. I suspect he is exactly where he wants to be at this point in time. I don't think a footballing backwater on the other side of the world would be a consideration.

A bucketful of oil money can change considerations.
