Typical performance tbh it was expected. When do we ever back it up when theres a bit of hype about us and there is a match where we need to win to fully establish ourselves. Josh Rose has got to be close to being the clubs worst player in its history can this **** FOAD. Cahill was screaming his head off to him all of the first half and forever giving him directions but the **** is absolutely clueless go the fuk back to central coast you hack.

Brattan and Kilkenny are pure class forever working hard it just didn't happen for us tonight. Defensive errors leading to all their goals. Bouzanis was decent right up until that goal which was unfortunate but in those situations we should just clear the ball. His distribution is class something Sorensen lacks however would much rather the big Dane back in goals for Tuesday and the rest of the season

Bring on tuesday

Probably the most frustrating game I've been to for a while. Brandan and Brattan lively, though everyone else was down on their best I thought. Arzani shouldn't be coming on deep in the 2nd half when we need a goal. Colazo's omission showed and was made worse by Kamau going off. Bring back Sorensen and beat Victory Tuesday. Supporters deserve some silverware, no excuses.

I've just rewatched all 3 of their goals

1st one,  it's really bad watching.  Harold has strolled in unmarked at back post while Brandan is standing with no one and then cahill goes and marks the guy who rose is on.

2nd one,  this is really poorly set up defensively. I noticed at the game we had rose marking djulbic (179cm Vs 194cm) and muscat marking Griffiths 180cm Vs 189cm). Simply got monstrerd in the air

3rd one,  it's really really bad from rose but Bouzanis didn't help at all by coming for a ball that he was never getting to leaving his goal wide open

All in all its really disappointing display,  thought the front didn't really click without the natural width from kamau and colazo.

Put Williams and taggart in that side and Perth will be very handy,  so it's not a complete shock loss,  and hopefully it's smartens us up a bit

Let's play the way we want to play and don't worry about the result. The result isn't important we just have to keep playing the same way against every team, same tactics, same formation and same strategy.

Even better,

who needs a goal keeper, just have an extra player sweeping the middle third,

Don't have specialist CBs to play the CB position as short full backs are fine for arial battles,

Don't change anything when the ball is wet and conditions are sub-standard and errors leading to turnovers are going to occur at over double the normal rate.

Also let's sub off 2 mid-fielders and replace them with a defender, and an attacker still in nappies and still expect midfield possession dominance as per our fantastic pressing midfield game.

Finally, can we just try a fkn 4231 formation and have players playing in their natural positions and reduce the pressing so our team isn't exhausted by the 65th minute.... please.

Interesting comment by jvs in the presser that we didn't hold onto the ball enough, and lost possession at the wrong times. We made 393 of 468 passes (84%) compared to Perths 186 of 275 (68%). So we easily more than doubles the number of successful passes. Secondly Perth never scored when we lost possession at the wrong time but off two set pieces and a defensive blunder. Another thing, 63% possession, how much more do we really need. Surely he's having a laugh when he makes these comments.

Reminiscent of the Aloisi era- except I actually expected to win. Only changes JVS seems to make are substitutions

Hindsight is a good thing but i would have shuffled the defence around and put malik at the back for some height with jakobesen instead of rose.

The Forn diving, Bouzanis screaming the shizen through a ball kid and then kicking the ball into their back corner after harold was legitimately injured- i would say good teams win ugly but we didnt even win...lucky i recorded the derby to watch again today

Positives: Everyone in Melburnians aced the Cahill chant at last, well done!

Negatives: Another shot in the foot with that performance. Upfront we're fine, but damn Bouzanis can't command his box for shit and Rose should never be on the same pitch as the Fornarolis and Cahills of the world. Defensive liability, need Sorenson and Franjic back asap

Christ, the sky isn't falling guys.

Perth likely to be the hardest team we face this year. We have six points from three games. Everyone calm the FUCK down.

He's right guys. Its only round 3. I mean, its not like we have been complaining about a lack of consistency or intensity in important games for years now. Its not like we have been concerned about defensive fragility during the pre-season. Its not as if we are frustrated because the same thing keeps happening but nobody seems to be doing anything to stop it happening again and again and again and again and again and again.

Cityscape thinks we should all calm the FUCK down. That's really helpful man. I am no longer worried about the fact our entire system was shut down by a halfwit and defensively we looked sunday league standard anymore.

Predictable dreadful Heartesque performance. So much I'd like to say but you've heard it all before.

I'd just like to warmly welcome all new members of Melbourne City FC to the 2016/17 season with the statistic that we have only won one of the seven first home league matches of the season that we have played. That was in 2015-16 when we beat Sydney 3-1. The others have been three losses [to CCM and Perth(2)] and three draws [Wellington, CCM and Sydney].

So don't give up hope at this early stage of the season...

This for me is the biggest disappointment

I'm as disappointed as anyone but this forum is incredibly over-dramatic. When we win the league is ours and when we lose the club's fucked.

It was round 3 we'll bounce back.

As always its not the loss that bothers me. Its the predictability of how we lost.

This.

Always losing after a great win

Always crumbling when we are talked up or have any expectation of success

Almost always losing our first home game

Always being defensively fragile

We need some serious momentum to get people backing this club. After our best performance last week that was stifled last night. I don't doubt we'll bounce back eventually however we do ourselves no favours in building up the club with home performances like that.

I normally agree with you however this time I think we deserved a point. We didn't just give up.

We showed more determination and to come back twice to level the game.......... This would never have happened previously and after they scored second goal that would have been it, if not worse.

We got back to 2:2 and were centimetres of nailing a third when Bruno hit the post.

final score 3:2 to us and all is wonderful with a lot less of complaining here.

rose fucked it up, dean went out to help (shouldn't have) and they got lucky.

hopefully this loss will bring the team back to earth for Tuesday's match. Victree will not bend over like they did last week.

hopefully we are ready

just a lazy performance. No pressure, no movement just going through the motions.

JVS has a lot of flaws - but it is clear as day he has no idea how to motivate and drive individuals. Thus, he is not a coach and why he constantly fails.

KL is bursting veins, JVS is worried about which solarium he will go to in the morning.

Offical crowd was 8,076 which is disappointing but understandable.

I'm not feeling very understanding of this TBH.  It was a bit of bloody rain.  You should see the weather every week watching football through a UK winter for a bit of perspective.  We have 11k members, it's the first home match of the season, we've just smashed the derby and Perth are serious rivals for the top three.  How much more does it need to get people up for a match?

I can't add much about the performance that hasn't been said already.  We'll be back to have another go on Tuesday, and then on Friday.

Thats fair but i dont see it that way at all. Although we had almost 70% possession we were dominated. They were happy to let us chip away without any real ideas. And had it not been for individuals creating something from nothing we were not even close. I think the score flattered us personally. We were well and truly outsmarted

You can't afford to make mistakes that we done today. The second and third goals where from horrendous defending.

Why didn't JVS tell Cahill to go up front? I would have tried that before taking him off.

The first goal was terrible defending too.  You have to track runs.

At 2:2 I confess I thought we would go on to win it.  For much of the second half we were all over them and had the chances.  But we were very flat and too much we did didn't come off.  And defensive howlers killed us.  We were close to playing poorly and winning.  And Perth are a horrible side to watch.  Talk about winning ugly...  Can't but argue that they were very effective though.

If his conferences and interviews are anything to go by, his half time team talk would be along the lines of "just keep trying boys do your best, I think we can win this and if we don't, there is always next week"

Honestly why the fuck would you take Cahill off and put on Malik while the game is at 2:2

No body can understand his thinking. This team deserves better then this "below average" muppet pretending he is in control.

This isnt the UK though. This is Melbourne. This is a club that a lot of people probably didnt know existed until last week. Its not like they are going to break their friday night dinner party plans to come sit in the rain and watch another jvs defensive masterclass.

Yes we have a record amount of members but most of them probably didnt give a fuck about soccer a few weeks ago. Our job is to convert "soccer is boring" people into die hard fans. Hence the negativity when we drop the ball after we get everyones attention like we always do.
