Highbury

Not an Arsenal fan, but still slightly upsetting i'll never see a game there.

I was lucky enough to see Highbury, I went on the stadium tour and was allowed to take a very quick walk onto the ground but didnt get to see a game :(. One of my biggest regrets in life

Q- How does a club raise extra revenue and appeal to a new demographic at the same time?

A- Simple! Build some council flats at one end of your ground

Perhaps its something the Mariners might consider!

Perth's NIB stadium is nearing completion. It has been described as a rip off with Hindmarsh with AAMI's seats!

I think its looks pretty sweet. Very different to the stadium I used to go to back in 01

Still love how they built the new stand directly where the sun shines :droy: . That is Perth for you

A few years back Pompy had some big plans for the future of their club and as most of you know, those plans did not exactly come to fruition. Along with dreams of silverware and world wide recognition, came dreams of a stadium which would be the envy of virtually every club on the planet.

You cant help but to wonder how different the landscape of English football would be had Portsmouth ended up playing in this proposed stadium.

Just thought i'd share a piece of stadia history that has always grabbed me.

The Stadio Nazionale PNF(Partito Nazionale Fascista)- Rome.

A ground had always existed on the site but Musolini's facist party redeveloped and renovated it in 1927 to use as a National stadium for sporting/political events.

Large marble columns and intricate brickwork walls flanked the terraces.

Home to the 1934 world cup which the Azzuri beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 as well as home to both SS Lazio and A.S Roma prior to the stadium's demolition in 1953 and both clubs moving to what would soon become the Olympic stadium that they both still share to this day.

Construction.

Supposedly inspired by the ancient architecture of a Roman Hippodrome hence the long sweeping flanks and singular rounded end.

Political rally. Note the huge marble columns designed to conjure up images of Roman Imperial might.
