TTDIM stay at the same hotel in Auckland as the British and Irish lions

Things that make me feel inferior; going to the hotel gym at the same time as their reserve half backs (smallest blokes in the squad)

Someone could make a joke in regards to last weeks results... but anyway something I have never got is why some Irish PPL really get into the Lions, I am guessing its due to wanting to see a side win but by far the most "British Thing" a lot of Irish PPL get behind.

NOTE: I realise a lot of these PPL are from Dublin with its different demographics to the rest of Ireland.

I think it's more a northern v southern hemisphere (which is the great divide in Union) dynamic than a British prude thing.

Basically the reads to me as a pack of boring kents playing a pack of less boring kents... as you know I would take watching Private School Rugby in Sydney over Professional Rugby Union anyday.

TTDIM: Watching Green Street whilst toasty warm in bed. Love having a TV in my room!

TTDIM: Rise of the Foot Soldier; same sort of movie premise but proper hard pricks who found a solid way of life given what they did.

Not really a football movie (if thats what you could even call Green Street), but still ...

Edit: Be warned - it got a very heavy rating (R if i am correct) for very good reason with the violence, etc ......

Edit 2: and on that thought; TTDIM quality action films based on proper stunts, fighting scenes for two hours straight.  sure the plot is bs with plenty of plot holes, but thats not the point. ie John Wick

Only films that provide any sort of authenticity of the Casual Movement are Away Days and to a much lesser extent the remake of The Firm.

I can't really take a film seriously if it attempts to discuss Casuals and not spend any effort in their Costume Department - It's like a film about Bikers where nobody bothers to get the right Harleys.

agree, and think that in a way what you've said applies to any number of films - particularly those adapted from true stories, books, etc.  the amount of times i've seen a favourite story, novel, etc, translated poorly through lack of proper budgeting or too much "creative licensing" being taken by writers / directors that i've given up hoping the film is going to meet expectation.

in saying that, the story arc and audience does cause a need for minor variations to some extent, and as such (while annoying) is something that i try to take with a grain of salt.

I also do find it funny to watch a range of films where sometimes a film can be that bad its actually worth a laugh or that its good to just use the film for one and half / two hours of escapism.

TTIM: art / film movements, studios and directors that continually go over the top in making shit that is that bland, mundane or super detailed in the small shit to so perfectly mirror real life that they seem to forget films are about entertainment - and thereby a film requires a form of escapism to it.  the odd super realistic film is fine, but If I wanted to continually see and deal with real life, then there'd be no point to go to the cinema.  Not saying that they should make a film poorly that they should avoid attention to detail; more so that it doesnt have to be utterly perfect with its connection to real life.

could be just my take, and then again I am a big fan of comedies for the ability to cast aside certain facts.

TTDIM: Happy Gilmore.  still think its in Adam Sandler's top three works - if not best.  complete pisstake on golf and sporting movies, but then again thats the point.

Bullshit or not, still was entertaining. Gave most a great laugh, particularly given how sour performances turn after the cup win / when the thread was started

Plus I've always thought you should never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
