Good squad for the upcoming qualifiers! Giannou is an amazing get, he'll surely get minutes. Also interestingly, both Risdon and Geria were selected ahead of Franjic (which is entirely justified tbh) so it'll be interested to see if either of them start ahead of McGowan. I really like Geria, but Risdon seems to have a lot more grit about him which I also like.

Bit surprised Meredith & McLaren weren't included. The Jordan game is critical.

yeah, left back is still such a problem area. I'm not sure Smith or Gersbach are up to the task of starting, which makes me wonder why neither Davidson or Behich were called up either?

Maclaren is the unluckiest omission based on form, I agree.

Meredith has a blinder on debut, in a position we've struggled and then gets dropped?

WTF?

Cruelest selection I've seen for a long time.

I'm not sure Gersbach should walk straight into the squad

He should. And he should start. And he will do well.

A few changes.

Harry Redknapp parachuted in by Jordan to help them win this huge game vs us.  A big name, but the bloke has about a week to prepare an unknown squad, so I doubt anyone is panicking in our camp.

In other news Antonis is out injured and McKay comes in to replace him.  Not sure it changes a lot socceroos-wise, but I do know it weakens Aloisi FC.

I'm listening to world of football on SEN and JVS was on and started talking about Mooy (game was on a screen in the studio) saying how great he was and said something like he always wants to be involved in the play like now then mooy scored ahah

Mooy is the Socceroo fulcrum ... he's a machine and has been directly involved in all 3 goals

Was thinking that he now takes over from where Bresciano left off.

Don't care what people say but Mooy is Mid table team EPL quality.

The guy has grown in stature IMO. These international performance haven't fazed him in fact he looks more comfortable with every game. MOTM for me.

Kruse just edged him for MOTM imo, but fuck he looks good in the national team.

Eclipsed the likes of Antonis, Luongo and McKay.

What a pleasure that game was to watch.

Remember just over 2 years ago when we couldn't break down Iraq's U23 side in a game we had to win to make the World Cup? With a team of guys who debuted for Frank Farina a decade or so before?

Continually being told "Asian teams are improving" when anyone questioned our results and performances.

Ange has got us back on the right track. Incidentally of the starting XI, 8 players got their start in the A League, with 1 of the other 3 being too old to do that.

I think we can safely say Canberra will see more games on those dates than Melbourne.

It's disappointing it seems FFA combined with a lack of interest from Daniel Andrews government means we have been missing out
