Malicious Site Warning

Just had a malicious site warning when opening window to here. This usually happens when someone reports it.

Just thought I should let the mods know so they could look into it

I havent had the issue on 3 devices and nobody else is reporting it so sounds more like you've been browsing pr0n and have spyware on your computer.

Would you be able to post a screenshot of the message?

Hmmmm strange.

I use IE at work and when I first open the window for this site it takes me to another site which I quickly close as I don't know what sort of site it is. Then after that everything is okay.

This (redirecting to another site) happen to any one else?

I really need more information.

Like hedaik says, a screenshot would be good.

Is it only happening on IE?

ok so, it's that other site that's creating the warning. That is pretty clear to me, which is why some people are getting the warning and others aren't.

Now the question is why are some people being redirected to that website.

Seems like if you get the warning, then you get it across browsers, whereas if you dont get the warning then you dont get it in any browser?

Only thing that comes to mind is some sort of DNS/cache injection/poisioning

Those of you who get the warning and are on windows, open command prompt (type "cmd" (no quote marks) in the search box in the start menu), and then when it's open type these two commands and copy and paste the output (or screenshot)

nslookup melbournefootball.com

nslookup forum.melbournefootball.com

I have been getting the redirect for a few days now.

Have tried on a few computers here (computers that have never accessed the forum before) and they all redirect.

I access the site via google.com.au

You may have been infiltrated with a "search engine script addition", that will redirect visitors who access your site from a search engine.

Check the logs via your web host.

Edit: It doesn't just redirect to match making sites - it also redirect to numerous unrelated sites.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's a common problem with the forum software, which is unfortunate given the cost of the software.

Easy to fix temporarily, but it comes back in about a day.

Still working with the support team for the forum software on getting it fixed permaently

Tesla just to let you know I am getting the malicious site warning when using Opera. Probably due to someone reporting it if they have been redirected.

Tried to come on the website today in work via the google search engine and on IE....the work's virus software blocked it, so won't be trying that again unfortunately.

Have tried it through google search on my opera browser and it tried to redirect but I stopped it.

I then clicked on my bookmark for the site and it just came up with the warning which I ignored because I know the site is fine, and it was okay.

So the problem seems to be when you try and go through the google search engine

Tesla just to let you know I have logged on to the website by typing address in the address bar rather than through google search.

I have had no problems with virus or being redirected. So it does look as if it is something attached to the website address when you go through google search

Currently your best bet is to just type the url in directly or use a bookmark rather than visiting the website via google.

I get back to Australia tomorrow night and will sort it out permanently some time shortly after that.
