TTIM: Online Poker being banned in Australia.

Absolutely fuck all to do with looking out for Aussies with gambling problems because Pokies venues would be shut down tomorrow if that were the case. The government can't tax the overseas gambling sites and can't tax people unless its a steady stream of income. More nannying of the everyday person who just wants to be left alone to do whatever the fuck they want with their lives. Made some handy cash playing online here and there over the years and there goes that.

of all the interesting and fascinating things that happen in space, why is it that a solar eclipse is the one space-related thing that gets everyone's dicks so hard?

Go see one and find out for yourself. Most amazing thing my eyes have seen (3 times) and would have gone to the US for this one if it wasn't for those pesky kids.

TTIM: These obscene payouts to so-called executives. The latest being Ahmed Fahour of Australia Post A$10.69million in his final year.

I know the argument is that they are being paid their worth in a competitive market. But I honestly can't see how one person can be worth that much to a long-established company. Particularly so when their business model is one of the oldest in human civilisation.

I went to a talk a couple of months ago where a former CEO of a prominent multi-national was talking about his time building his company up. While it was very impressive and all, one of the things he hung his hat on was that he identified a celebrity that would be recognised across Australia (in this case the captain of the Australian cricket team). Give me a seven-figure salary and I'm sure that I could work something out.

The other argument (in the case of Aust Post) is that because it is a failing business you need to pay more to attract the talent to turn it around.

You need to watch the video from his perspective.. brought the company literally from the ground to one of the highest turnovers for a domestic buisness

no bias

It's not a company as such - it's a corporation wholly owned by the Commonwealth. Fahour was therefore a public servant. IMO such pay for a public servant is outrageous.

I have no idea what any CEO is worth, but just because somebody is being paid by the Government versus a private company doesn't to me mean they should be paid substantially less. I'd prefer our smartest people to be working for the Government rather than constantly being poached by private companies to go up against them.

Quite simply, at a large corporation being a few % better than another potential CEO could equal hundreds of millions of dollars in difference to the bottom line, hence why they get big salaries.

TTIM: Kids like @strider thinking McGregor would win let alone stand a chance 😂

To be fair he did pretty well in the first couple rounds. But Mayweather is Mayweather, it always takes him a few rounds to download his opponent's data.

I honestly think he did well considering it was his first pro boxing fight. I know I coudn't resist a $50 punt on Conor (you never know!).
I think we all knew Floyd would win though Haha

LOL... No.

And I see that I am also probably describing what a lot of other Office Workers on here are probably wearing right now... its the Uniformity of the clothes alongside the shit Office Gossip I am hearing that I find annoying.

Alongside the fact that I hate the whole dude in a Suit with no tie look. Probably because I was made to wear a tie when "working" from the age 10 due to school but the mainly being because it just reminds me of the very hateable Rove McManus.

NOTE: Do not ever bring up Rove McManus with any person from a vaguely Irish Catholic Background from Perth because they will be related to him somehow and they will go on about it cos they think its still actually noteworthy.

Was clearly trying to flood the market with even worse comedians (who thought it was possible) to make himself look better in comparison.

TTDIM: That cad still uses the word 'nerd' like its the 90s, makes me feel young in comparison.

I am sorry but the word "Nerd" is still a very relevant and useful term in today's modern day Australian Society.
I know for a fact that I am not the only one who frequents this forum and that younger users than you @Tesla who also use it often for this reason.

When I use the word “Nerd” I am not referring to PPL who are Geeky or Academically Gifted or Smart or some 1960’s notion of the word rather I am referring to PPL who were pushed to the margins at School or Early University and from being left out of the loop they never developed their social skills with the other gender at a far more beneficial earlier age.

Now PPL can tell me I am idiot putting so much emphasis on who someone was at school and I am sure there are tons of PPL who left school and never thought about it and who they were at school again but it’s a reality that it doesn’t take long to see many young PPL still effected by being a Nerd at School.

It can also effect people in very different ways and cause them to act in very different ways or pursue very different things which is why Nerd is very useful as a collective term which can describe a person. Here are some common examples:

Fringe Sport Nerd: The type of guy who hates AFL (Or League or Union if from up North) because it was the sport that the Jocks and Normal Kids (Even the Jock’s Sports Retarded mates like myself) followed at school. They want to be able follow a Sport without being in the domain of PPL who might actually be able to play a sport at anything but an amateur level.

This traditionally leads to these guys becoming massive EPL fans of clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal upon leaving school, however more recently with EPL becoming a sport for the masses many of them have pushed further into sports cared even less about but normal PPL in Australia like Ice Hockey and Gridiron.

These sports also additionally provide these guys with a Sporting Profile to pursue as a player which that the think makes them look tough but of course all they are doing is playing sport against other nerds because the guys who really tough/talented at sport are playing AFL, a type of Rugby or even Soccer.

Check out the PPL at the Gimp on a Sunday at Midday if you think these PPL don’t exist.

Attractive Girl Nerd: Ever meet a seemingly attractive girl somewhere and they become less and less attractive as you speak to them and eventually you end up wondering if there is something missing about this person.

Often this is because the woman you were talking to was a Nerd at School and so they have trouble being on the level with PPL the age. The biggest give away is usually for these types is if their friends are all largely from school and nowhere near as attractive as her (or near her weight level) and if she is into Left Wing Politics.

Ever had a Girl whose far too attractive to be talking to you hanging in there on a dull conversation?
This could be the reason.

Poorly Informed Leftist Nerds: PPL usually from Middle Class Backgrounds (who often attended Independent Schools) where they were not invited to parties and the like from the popular rich kids at school. So they get a dumb idea that they can turn to the Politics of Social Upheaval as a way searching for the popularity and attention they never receive under the rules of current Society.

The easiest way to spot these tops is by how they don’t actually know that much about Politics so they will just retweet/repost whatever has a Leftist tagline attached to it even if it contradicts other courses they have been behind in the past.

They are that person you know who is oblivious to the fact that they are still enjoying the trapping of Middle Class Society more than the vast majority of Australians despite supposedly supporting its destruction and would have far more to lose than most others if a Socialist System did come in place.

Gym Nerd: Everybody knows this guy, if you went to all boy’s school you knew at least ten and if you went to an all-boys school with wogs you would knew at least over twenty of these guys and every University has tons of them.

Ignored by girls at school these guys head straight to the Gym to bulk up and being a new man after school. In some cases it can also be a reclaiming of a person’s cultural heritage that was left dormant during school hours due to a schoolyard with a strong policy of assimilation.

If you don’t know who I mean… go to a Red Brick University on the first day of term and and just listen for a bunch of blokes yelling to draw attention to themselves.

Bloke at a Bar/Club/Backpackers/The Races/Festival/ who is a Nerd: The easiest to pick but the hardest to explain on here...

Basically you are out in a mixed social drinking environment and you see a bloke (or some blokes) talking to an attractive clearly normal girl (or girls) and he or they look pretty normal and are probably even good looking possibly/probably better looking than yourself.

However, within a minute you know that this bloke is a nerd and that the girl has also has worked out something is missing about him too so that if you can think of way of seemingly genuine way of speaking to her she will ditch them to speak to you.

This is not because you are any world beater or she wants you but because she can tell that you are a person who can interact with the opposite sex.

Why the word Nerd: Now I know a lot of PPL will read the above and say Cadete is making mass assumptions about all these types of PPL he is biased towards for stupid Det like reasons and being a dick and probably I am… ESP considering the last example.

However, my whole is point about the word “Nerd” being so important and as the above examples illustrate it’s the word “Nerd” being added to each heading that illustrates the context from what I have written above… it’s what separates such PPL from your average person who likes Gridiron or the Gym or the Greens who are perfectly normal.

And sweet now I can leave work after wasting so much time on that!
