having been at the game, still cant believe the way the team capitulated in the second half.  two sleeps later and still dont feel any better about the shit in the second half.

what shits me the most with our defense isnt actually Ramsey himself but the fact the club hasnt done much to rectify the situation at either fullback position.  something needs to change, but in many ways he is not responsible for where the coach decides to play him - he can only make himself available.

didnt think Hoffman was much better than Ramsey on Saturday but for the goal.  but i wont digress too far into whose better, not really the point.

when i look at West Sydney, i cant help but see that when they started out, BOTH starting fullbacks were VISA players.

given the way that West Sydney went about recruiting "has been's / never will be's" and turning them into a very good side, it says a lot about the need to recruit properly.

and the fact they had to go overseas for both fullbacks makes our club look like a fucking disgrace for the fact that time and again we push ill suited players into these spots.

Hoffman's has had 4.5 years and still struggles.

Ramsey is mid 20s and hasnt looked like picking it up (at least Behich was young enough to grow into it).

club needs to pull its head out of the sand.

I didn't think you'll be able to give such a clear appraisal considering the amount of Amber liquid you consumed before the kickoff.

Well done :)

hehe comes with practice  B)

plus it helps when we play like shit in the second half - makes it hard to remember it  :P

No positives last night . In fact found the whole thing quite depressing. The fan base is a circus with arguments before a ball was kicked between heart fans and a shower of Manks singing blue moon. The disrespect shown to the heart from shitey fans is remarkable. They have no place in this club.

Mate people can support city any way they want, we've strugggled for supporters over the years and now you want to start kicking supporters out?

Amen.

Sorry gentlemen but I sense a element of an "Uncle Tom" neurosis on this thread. At both the Newcastle and Victory games this season I've witnessed Mel City fans and Manchester fans respectively  shounting down heart chants with "City" and so on or signing man city songs. To me as a fan of this club, a man city fan shounting down heart chants is no different to fans of any other club for that matter that is deliberatly sitting with Mel City fans to shout them down. My mind actually takes me back to the 4-0 win over victory last season (my how far have we come!) when those half a dozen or so victory fans were in the heart end deliberatly and succesfully winding up our members and many of you will recall what happendned to them. Put less dramatically I accept Heart as in reality dead but passionate fans of the Heart won't accept EPL wannabes disrespecting that legacy and trying to rewrite / whitewash our history out of existence .

My 11 yo was in tears at the end of the game saturday night while our EPL brethern were busy heading for the exit, banners underarm,  with 5 -10 minutes to go to be home to catch the main event. My boy has passion for his team that these people will never understand and I strongly believe it is up to these new members to show alot more respect and heart fans do not need to go cap in hand to offer our gratitude that they are on board.

Big AMEN!!!

Really can't comprehend the criticism towards Paartalu, I mean he's playing as an out an out anchor and has shielded our defence that well. I don't think I've seen Kisnorbo or Weilart be run directly on and every single goal (except Brown's Penalty) we've copped as been from the wings, without him actually staying back and holding up opposition midfielders we'd be lucky to have the 2 points we currently posses.

And to compare him to Kalmar and Retre is useless, they are both far more attacking players, we really don't have another player to play Paartalu's role.

I 'm not so sure

their first goal was his mistake

he was ball watching and allowed Finkler to get in behind him, whose shot then fell for Thompson

Also some piss poor defending on Berisha at the start of the second half when Berisha scored

on the whole, we were out played, as simple as that

I hear what your saying about the Finkler marking, he was to blame there. But the it is never an DM's job to stop a No. 9 from scoring, Wielart of Kisnorbo need to step up there, not Paartalu, he unfortunately had to because neither of our CB's seemed to be fussed enough to stop him

What mystifies me is that RB and LB are crucial defending options as well as crucial attacking options for our style of play. WE've never had specialists in either position. We were lucky in that both Marrone and Behich were good covered full backs but we have assumed that we'd be able to duplicate this when it clearly isn't happening with Hoffman and especially isn't happening with Ramsay. If these players are going to cross the ball into the box then we need players who can cross, even Behich and Marrone were haphazard with their crossing accuracy. Ramsay and Hoff are consistently poor, compounded by the fact that Ramsay in particular can't defend.

I was excited by the rebranding for a while and got caught up in the hype. For a while I forgot why I became a Heart member. The reason I supported Heart from day one was because we were going to be the club that taught bright australian talent how to play the right way. That was the club's identity for me. We got an Ajax youth coach and some talented youngsters (Behich, Babalj etc) and I didn't care if we didn't win the league as long as I saw bright young talent being playing REAL football. That was the point of difference from Victory for me. I loved watching and supporting Heart in those first 2 years, going to the games with my son. I couldn't wait for home games!

Fast forward to now, and what have we become? A glamour club? A club with a split fan base and no real identity. People point fingers at coaches and players, but for me, the real culprits are on board level.

At the game on Saturday night, I hated admiring Victory. They are doing so many things right. On the park, off the park and especially from their fans. Now, I can never follow Victory, but it saddens me that For the first time ever, I am not looking forward to going to games. The fans need to be united. ( having said that, Man City fans, if you want to be real fans spend some money on a Melbourne City shirt and put your money where your mouth is. stop wearing Man City shirts to games. We want to attract Liverpool and Man U fans to our club)

If we are going to survive and thrive, there is only one way forward. Get rid of the board and the useless, calamitous PR people. Hire a knowledgable director of football and build a TEAM that is not centered around over the hill Superstars. Guys like Villa will not build a strong long term fan base. The only thing that will do it is winning. And quite frankly I don't see us winning until January at least. I don't see us conceding less then 2 goals a game with the defence that we've got. We need some players that are hungry to play for the shirt! More players like Mooy who was frankly the only player with some guts and ability on Saturday night.

I hope the club gives my son something to smile about at least after the January transfer window.

some of you are so sooky and weak. The more fans the better, we arent a big club that can be knocking back fans coz u arent happy with their chants etc..

Just stick together. the more fans we have, the bigger and better we are going to get. No coincidence that Victory, Sydney and WSW are 3 of the most successful teams. They have the most fans, best atmosphere and bigger draw cards for players to sign because of it.

Stick together and stop whinging. I welcome all new fans and take pride that we have broken the membership record.

Good post. I didn't get to the game but I was nearly in tears watching the capitulation. God knows what I would have done if I'd been next to "Heartless" ManC fans at Shitihad

Agree with every word, we are a club from the city of Melbourne competing with another club a few kms away. The fact we've hit 10,000 members is a top effort.

I'll pose this question, where do we expect these fans to come from? Look at me, I'm interstate and supporting this club. Sure it would be great if the fans were wearing Melb city shirts, however maybe after a few games they'll be doing just that.

I really dont get what PPL are worried about...

Any fickle fans will be weeded out by the time they finally sack JVS... and anyone that stays to watch this crap deserves to be called a MCFC fan in my book.

Exactly, I'll be there in a few weeks when we play Sydney plus I'm doing the away trips to Gosford and Newcastle at the end of the year. Doing what I can as interstate fan. Sticking strong.

I find that in any big game, its like a lottery regarding if you are going to be on the good or bad end of A-League refereeing. Obviously we were outplayed to a certain extent, but fact is Thompson was offside for their first goal and that bald maggot Delovski didnt give Duff the penalty at 3-2 (an absolute game changer).

Same crap refereeing marred the Sydney derby (and same in Victory v WSW, where victory got away with two blatant howler calls) and will continue to happen coz the refs in this league are laughable, its an absolute joke. Pot luck in every big game, you watch

I've supported our team for four years since I moved to Melbourne and I agree with the sentiment of the more fans, the better. If there are some mancs being disrespectful towards chants being sung by the active area then just tell them to fuck off on game day but do let them pay for their memberships and tickets beforehand.

They are an opportunity, but to turn a Eurosnob Man City fan into a Melbourne supporter requires good team performances and results.

I do agree that they are an opportunity, though I think the people who are raising the issue are primarily concerned that these people are having a go at supporters who were around under the 'old brand' and telling Melburnian's how to support the team.

I personally don't really have an opinion on the issue as I don't feel it has any great material effect on me.

Was so many flogs leaving after the penalty, if theres one thing that pisses me off greatly its when you don't even stay to the end to watch your team.

Even when Victory has lost derbies their supporters (or at least their active area) stayed to the end and kept going. So many bandwagoners were too busy trying to beat the traffic instead of supporting the team last week.

I have been luke warm to this city takeover.

Saturday night, after five years of loyal support for the red and white, my two sons have announced that they are now V*****y supporters and want 'tard shirts and scarves.

City said we would have distinctive home and away colours and David Villa for ten games. Clearly we have been misled on both fronts.

The attitude of the new City supporters on Saturday night made me feel like an alien in supporting the club I have supported since it's birth. I don't want to be supporting a plastic mini-me Manchester city and the use of the blue strip along with the Heart chants being drowned out was appalling from both the club and supporters. If Melbourne is in fact blue and white then it is the Visitors who hold the claim.

To their credit, the other side of Melbourne have their own identity and it was more appealing to my sons as well as my friend I took along who is also now a V*****y supporter.

I still have my membership and I am hoping I regain my passion for the Heart.

Totally understand your position.

In first 3 years people had reasons to jump off their band wagon and join heart.

In the current climate this trend is ready for reversal.

Club is at fault

Step up the brainwashing.

Ideas include:

1 play a track whilst they are sleeping that goes something like this:

"Berisha is a dog, Berisha is a dog, berisha is a dog",etc.

2. Insert those super quick visuals that have been banned by law from advertising into their favourite DVDs of famous heart goals and that animal Muscat taking out young Zahra

3. Explain to them (nicely) that only retarded people support the others

4. Threaten to stop feeding them if they don't revert.

For what its worth I too wouldn't shed a tear if city left tomorrow and took their NSW sky blue and their "the fans count for shit" attitude with them.  Still those blue kits will come in handy when the club franchise relocates to Sydney next year, to be closer to their natural market.

I understand the current doom and gloom and I am just as pissed off about Saturday night's result as anyone else but we're forgetting that it is a long term project and we are only 3 games into it. CFG will literally not let us fail as it damages their reputation and they have already invested into us and it won't cost much for them to get us going.

It was never going to be an overnight project. Manchester City took 4 years to win the title. I expect something similar for us as we turn over the shit such as Ramsay, get our academy and youth teams up and running and get our state of the art training centre put up. CFG know what they're doing. That's not to say they won't make any mistakes along the way but by Allah will they want to rectify them when they happen.

No offence Peter, I'm sure your sons are smart, but to jump off City at this point in time is one of the dumbest things I can think of. It's only going to get better from here. Buckle up and enjoy the ride, they're the ones that will be missing out on numerous championships and ACL campaigns.

Mate, if people wanted championships and ACL campaigns they would have chosen the visitors not us before the take over. People support clubs for different reasons one of them being that they feel the other supporters are genuine or that the club actually give a shit about them. At the moment the Visitors seem to care a hell of a lot more about their fans then City do.

Don't know how old Peter's boys are, but they're doing just what youngsters do. Probably if I was their age I'd do just the same, except that when I was their age I lived in a one-club town so there was no choice but to support that one club through thick and plenty of thin.

The boys want to support a winning team, one that scores plenty of goals and draws big crowds and provides an exciting atmosphere for its fans. It's fair enough that they want pleasure from football, not pain and heartache.

Heart/City has a bad habit of blowing its best opportunities to gain favour with potential supporters. We've done it again this season, falling short in our first home match and a shocking result in the Derby.
