drewmelbcity
I think the reason for not being able to drink coincides with not being able to drive either
perthheart
The official stance on minors in licenced premises is that they can only be there if with a responsible adult (note that responsible means legal guardian) or having a meal. A weird fact though is that you can legally serve a minor alcohol if they are with there parent and having a meal. Although most licensee policies will decide against doing so it's not technically illegal. Blew my mind when I found that out. IIRC, in British law it also says that a minor can't come within 6 feet of the bar, too, though that's practically unenforceable and is likely only there to discourage them from trying to place an order. perthheart
Yeah it's the same here. $18 000 fine for the licensee if a minor is caught on premise with booze and $1800 for the bar tender who served. Couldn't care less how many times I get called a twat for not serving someone who is probably over 18 but has no ID. I ain't risking that shit. Yep. under agers can have a drink with a parent or guardian if having a meal. If the staff try to refuse you make an argument and tell them they are clearly uninformed and perhaps need to do an RSA refresher course. That's what I do when I go to dinner with my nephew and his parents.
