Denies that 'secret' or 'third party' payments were made :hmm:

Yeah, how does that work?  Someone is very very wrong.

A few changes at Perth and perhaps we'll hear a different story?

The guy was CEO- he has to take responsibility, its as simple as that.

Isn't this the equivalent of pleading "not guilty"? If he admits that he broke the rules then he'll bring everyone down with him. This way, as Bela says, he's the fall guy, and there's a better chance of Sage and Co. maintaining that they didn't know what he was up to.

The Board can claim that but the CEO is responsible to the Board, at best they've been negligent given the scale of the deceit. In favour of the Board's survival of course is that the Chairman of Board is also the sole shareholder so there won't be any Stephen Mayne type shareholders agitating for the truth. If FFA sees sage as the only ownership option then they won't rock the boat either.

What I'd be really angry about as a supporter is about how they could have been cheating the salary cap for so long but have performed so poorly on the pitch

It's all over.

Joint statement. The parties have kissed and made up, the punishments stand, and they'll work together to make sure these things don't happen again.

As above, Brewer "acted alone" and he's the fall guy.

Why not? If he knew what was happening and knows that there is more that the FFA don't know about then it is a wise move. The CEO has taken the fall and mow everyone else can play the victim.

Obviously there's nobody else putting up their hand for the Glory franchise license.

Gosh they are a rabble over at Perth.

The two-times Championship-winning defender/striker reacted angrily when asked to reapply for his job, despite leading Perth Glory's women's team to the W-League Premier's Plate in 2015.

Glory took control of the W-League team last week, previously run by Football West, and elected to advertise the head coach's position on its website last Friday.

Harnwell - a club legend who holds the appearance record of 256 games - elected not to go through the rehiring process, telling The West Australian the decision had dampened his passion for the club, and was a "kick in the guts".

"As much as I’m disappointed to leave the girls and not be involved again, I’ve got too much pride and professionalism to do something like that," a furious Harnwell said.

"I’ve got no real feeling or passion for the club at all now. It’s all sort of wiped away, which is a shame given the history I’ve got with it."

Harnwell was coach of the W-League team for four seasons with his former Glory team-mate and club great Bobby Despotovski speculated as a possible replacement.

Glory's women set a new W-League points record before losing to Canberra United 3-1 in the W-League grand final.

A Perth Glory spokesperson said the decision to re-advertise the position was a matter of process resulting from the W-League team's change of ownership, and the expiration of Harnwell's contract.

The spokesperson said the first indication the club received of Harnwell's disgruntlement was when the story appeared in the media on Wednesday morning.

Glory owner and Chairman Tony Sage said last week that it was a fitting time for the women to join the Glory family.

"This is an exciting and promising day for football across the state," Sage said, as the new club structure was revealed.

"It means from today, we have three teams under the one Glory umbrella. The A-League, Youth League and W-League teams will spread the Glory brand and each team will fly the flag for Western Australia on the national front.

"I’d also like to commend everyone at Football West, including CEO Peter Hugg on a fantastic achievement and their role in boosting the profile of the women's game."

It's like the kid who keeps piling food he likes on his plate isn't it. He likes it, he wants it, but he just can't eat it.

Basically they have Keogh on a retainer so that he won't sign with anyone else. Now they will lean on 1 or more of their imports to leave.

Unusual.

Wow. They re sign the bloke that basically created their original cap misadventure last season and for next season with no visa spots available.

Mind boggles on how this can be accepted and many levels.

Just mind blowing.

Well last season they were demoted to 8th for breaching the salary cap, perhaps they reckon that if they breach the cap again then 8th position is one place higher than where they are likely to finish without him.

They have a really good run home.

Could possibly sneak top spot? only 4 points off top spot....

I think it's 5? Arithmetically they can. I wouldn't have said their run is that good - two away matches and one at home. IMO they'd have to win all three to do it and other results go their way.
