2014-15 MEMBERSHIPS

That Etihad member offer looks pretty tempting. Cheap return flights from Melbourne to Manchester (from $1518 economy), a ticket to Manchester City v Spurs or Swansea and if you wear Melbourne City colours to the game, they give you a new Nike home kit (presumably Manchester City) to take home. Definitely considering it. Probably wouldn't have the balls to see if the offer extended to rocking up in a Melbourne Heart shirt though.

No, they give you a new Melbourne City home kit to go to the game, and in return you pay Etihad Airways at least $1500... But who cares? Why on earth would you offer Melbourne City members something that means you miss a Melbourne City home match? This club seems to be doing everything possible so that members can't watch their team actually in Melbourne. Yes, I've had a bad day, but FFS how about encouraging people to watch us play here?

Can you not just go when the Aussie season is out?

The deal is for only the games on 18 October against Spurs, or 22 November against Swansea. I'm not arguing with others that it does seem a little ill-conceived (to be honest, I just assumed they'd have set it for weekends when we were playing away - they both clash with home games and the Spurs game clashes with our home opener), but I'm still pretty tempted, for the Swansea game at least.

I am suprised that the speed of renewals and or new members is still going up. Really, it's only going to get faster too, with the marquee and other signings comming. I still don't think Lampard is comming here but I'd say we will get another boost when villa actually arrives in Melbourne and is paraded around the place

So we've now got more members then the capacity of our first home game?

Being where and when it's going to be played, I would expect large chunk of bandwagon and "soft" members not to show up.

3k max

+ 2k of curious locals

Total 5k

Hypothetically, if we were to sign Robert Koren as our IM and Kennedy as our AM, with a sustained marketing campaign across multiple platforms for at least two months, what number do you all think we could reach by the start of the season?

I think 10K is ambitious but realistically achievable.

I'm sure there are a lot of people that are not convinced about signing up as a member but would want to see villa play. Would a five game membership be out of the question at the very beginning of the season? Get them through the door for villa and possibly stay on as members for the remainder of the season.

No. Absolutely no. Let them buy tickets for the games they want to see.

Ok fair enough, any reason why?

Several reasons, the most important one being that IMO a season ticket is just that - a season ticket. If you want to cherrypick which matches you attend - for what ever reason - then you pay the walk-up admission price.

I'm fundamentally against all limited-game tickets and freebies of the types that have been offered by Heart in past seasons, except the summer school holiday ones where I believe there are sound reasons for offering cheaper tickets to youngsters who may not be able to attend matches in the rest of the season. IMO limited-game offers devalue the full season ticket, are a slap in the face to those loyal supporters who've committed for the full season, and a manipulation to "increase the numbers."

Good call, I completely agree.

However at the same time, from the club's perspective I can understand why they offer such memberships as at the end of the day, it's all about boosting numbers and getting people through the gates.

I don't mind, sure it's a 'slap in the face' to loyal fans if you think about it, but it's also just another way to grow the club.

A lot of people I know that are current members and have been for a few seasons first came on board because of a five game membership. I understand the point your making jw and i agree with it because I'm an idealist as well. But, I'm also all for different ways to get people on board and I think this 'could' be an opportunity we can take advantage of.

That's fair enough. And maybe we do have to use this particular season to "launch the new brand."

So I'll compromise this time around! But I don't want to see us do it too often because I think that would look too much like a circus.

Still 70 days to go

25 members per day =   8000

Id still be happy with that.

Still to go - Mt Eliza/Frankston heart City tournament = 4-500 junior members  (Not game though this year so they tell me)

Think there was one other inititave last year worth a few hundred members

Family day perhaps? Not sure how many members sign up then though

Cancelled mine since I won't be here, looking at international membership, but it should at the very least include live streaming, discounted flights and a 7 day stay in Qatar + Russian escorts. Essentially paying 60 clams for a lapel pin and 3 games on the other side of the world ffs.

Where's the love CFG?
