Deluka
*debut v. Sydney F.C. - Sunday January 13, 2013 We had a thread for Andrea Pirlo, Carlton Cole and Isaka Cernak but didn't have one for Stefan Mauk so I thought i'd get one cranking. I've been really impressed with him when he has come on for us, he has looked very lively and probably should have had a goal last week with that free header in front of goal. I'm hoping we can get a lot of minutes out of him this year, hopefully around 600 minutes form 15ish games. I think he could become a really great player for us, and at the age of only 18, there's no reason why that shouldn't be the case. japiedog
was the free header him or Kalmar ? not sure, yes he looked lively, but showed some "rawness" on the ball bit of experience and he will, (hpefully) be a good player for us

But then Kalmar attempted a diving header a little bit after.

Tommykins
I doubt anyone outside of our back 2 are likely to ever bury a header.

LR9
A stand out for the under-22's overnight, in a 1-0 win over Kuwait. Was very creative, hitting the woodwork once before setting up the winner. Good signs.

Tesla
This lad is the most exciting young player we have, he has actual talent unlike some of our other youngsters where it's really just the fans hyping them because up because they are young and near the first team (eg Walker). A fair bit of Walker hate Tesla. Last season he was very solid. Teaming up with Garcia he was an attacking threat and solid in defence. This season though firstly his confidence was shot by Hoffman being first choice. He also wasn't given the same support by an out of form Duganzic. Long term Walker is worth persisting with. Though I do agree... Stefan Mauk is our team's best long term prospect Edited January 13, 2014 by HeartinHobart

yampy
Poor Stefan, he might be disappointed that there is more talk of his sister on his thread than him. But you're not wrong Jimmy. Much more than 6.5/10 and her boyfriend is putting on that smile. Hoping he (Stefan, not Kassandra's boyfriend) gets plenty of game time for rest of season so we can get a better look at him. Same with Garuccio.

Murfy1
Regarding the U22 AFC tournament that Australia were knocked out of 2 days ago, Mauk played 90 minutes in the first game against Kuwait, was subbed on for several minutes against Iran in game 2, played 85 minutes against Japan in the third game and was subbed on for 35 min against Saudi Arabia in the quarter-finals. So he pretty much played a lot more football in just over a week with the U22's than he did for half a season at Heart. He also played pretty well IMO. He hit the post from the edge of the box and was instrumental in setting up the winning goal against Kuwait, and he won the penalty to get Australia's only goal against Saudi Arabia. Also, he looked very comfortable on the ball and is a pretty good passer. Hopefully JVS gives Mauk some real chances to show his talents in what remains of our season. Where does he fit into the midfield though? Kewell's understudy? Mauk played as the number 10 in every match for the U22 team. So yes, he could be Kewell's understudy and be a good backup creative midfielder. Although if JVS keeps playing the current formation (4-4-2 diamond), Kewell can be one of the front 2, and Mauk can play at the top of the diamond. Melburnian
Thanks for the update on his recent performances Murfy1. Mauk has been probably the most talented kid I have seen come through our club. In terms of technical ability anyway. He's of the new age type of player that wants the ball and wants to control. He's still very green but right now as we go through a defunct season, it would be beneficial to get rid of that green by playing him extensively and giving him experience over the next 12 weeks. If we can give him 720 minutes over that period it would give him the experience needed to take into next season. We have a good one here, very young, but nurture him he could be the surprise packet next season.

You can tell by Kisnorbo's reaction afterwards that he knew Mauk should have done more.
jw1739
I didn't see it, but as always the question of bench management comes to mind. Bringing on a young player - our youngest player - just returned from overseas, in the 88th minute when we're trying to hold a 2-1 lead. Hmm??
