Not sure if srs.

Surprised someone hasnt section 18Ced this place.

You do realise we live in a country with less freedom than China (as long as you dont get political), half the posts on this forum are probably against the law.

most of the mods are to blame tbh. give us a subsection in the forums where we can insult each other, be racist and shitpost. don't moderate that area... bubblewrap pansies

There is one. It's called sending a personal message.

By the way, while I've got your attention, do you blame someone else for everything you don't like about the world around you?

@strider IMO anyone how cries out about a how a Forum's Mods should be doing a better job takes a Forum way too seriously.

I have never said shit about Moderation on any forum... not even on Football Anarchy.

And FWIW I have easily received the most out of line personal attacks out anyone on the place in one of its three versions... which I know is hardly surprising due to my Adversial Nature at times.

Mate you're having a sook about "almost being banned", I really think if anyone is taking thinfs too seriously its you.

In the future just direct your insults at Cad, it will be more entertaining for all of us (I have to warn you though, you'll probably end up wishing you got banned).

We need someone to moderate the moderators. @strider perhaps?

True, if you have the most Forum Spats then you're going to culminate the most insults back so I cant complain about that part...

What I was more talking about the specific personal nature of the attacks themselves from the old "Terrace Reformation Movement" (Before it nosedived spectacularly and failed) which make the things said on here these days seem very tame.

In all cases these comments were said by PPL who would never say as in RL and in the worst case one of them used his nobody mates inactive forum account to make these comments.

Remember that time I ethered a certain turkish fellow. I pretty much retired from forum beef after that, went out at the top, I doubt I would have bettered that.

You mean the bloke who after trading barbs for three weeks told me I was a Internet Warrior and told me to have a go at him of the forum... and then when I did as such as soon as I saw him next he just stood in silence as his Missus (at the time) yelled at me for ten minutes about a whole host of shit including asking me: "Why are you having a go at him?"

"Um, because he said too when I next saw him..."

UOTYH: With the news that SpaceX is wanting to colonise Mars, it got me thinking: It will be private companies that lead the way in space travel, not government institutions like NASA.
Of course, whether or not SpaceX's idea will succeed is a whole other issue, but the lure of raw materials (some of which are rare on Earth) to be mined leads me to believe that it's only a matter of time before large companies start to seriously look into it.

My love of space, and colonisation of space trumps my political leanings haha. Although, as I have gotten older my tolerance for capitalism has increased a bit, I can see the benefits in markets, etc. I am no Tesla haha, but I am not the insufferable Marxist jerkass that I once was.

As an older member of the forum I recall the old Omni magazines pushing the line about private enterprise pushing the boundaries in space back in the 70s and 80s. And any investment in space technology by a private company was immediately a major article. Sadly I don't think that there will be any colonies when I shuffle off my mortal coil. Private enterprise needs capital that provides returns in the foreseeable future - sadly there are still too many unknowns in the technology development (let alone biological survival) of space colonies.

In any case the hard yards have been done with public funding. I still expect that a lot of the technology developed by nasa, eaa, jaa and universities will be commercialised by the private sector.

Think it was NASA that encouraged the private sector to start looking into this area as they stopped building spaceships themselves and instead started contracting the private sector

Oh of course, I guess that it is pretty impossible to gauge which technologies will take off (no pun intended), and which ones won't. In the 60's people were hopeful about colonisation in the following decades, but nothing materialised (There were a few reasons beyond the technological limitations of course).
I do think that most research will be done by government agencies like NASA and the ESA, but that research will be co-opted by people wanting to make money.
Pretty unrelated, but if it is government agencies that do end up leading the charge, it must be a joint effort. If, for example, it was a solo effort by NASA, the colony could be seen as an 'American' colony, and not something that benefits humanity as a whole.

NASA gives SpaceX contracts in order to build new spacecraft, yes. They also lease them launch pads etc. Right now, close co-operation between government agencies and companies is important, as research can be shared and such.
