Unpopular Opinions That You Have.

Just to clarify, when I was there it was after the Melbourne model was brought it, but I swear people I knew were doing engineering undergraduate even then. I guess it's changed.

I think a lot of people might just refer to it as engineering, that's what my housemate does, but the degrees definitely science (or another undergrad if you're a bit different).

I always wonder what my old college at Melbourne Uni must be like now under the new system because generally PPL used to live there for two years and maybe half the second years would do a third year which would mean most would only be there for their undergraduate degree. Around exam times the students (in particular the girls) doing Law and Med would go insane and shit off the more carefree students like myself with their intensity.

I am interested to know if its more relaxed around that place now or if these PPL are just as intense in their Arts/Science subjects because they want to get the marks to get into these courses. (Knowing that place it is the later).

"Post-graduate" or "postgraduate" was correct IMO. Means relating to or describing a course of study undertaken after completing a first degree.

It's semantics but having one degree does not make you a PG student when you start a second. It does however make you a Graduate. At universities that have a strong focus on Research e.g. Melbourne, a graduate course is one you complete, generally via Coursework i.e. Grad Dip/Masters (CW) after a general UG whereas the term PostGraduate is only attributed to a research Degree e.g. (PhD, MA) with a specialisation in a certain field which necessitates a level of research  e.g. Honours/Masters (R) as a prerequisite. For instance, once you complete a general science degree at UOM you can gain entry into  Masters of Engineering etc. (which after checking just now you only need a generalist UG degree e.g. Commerce, Environments etc.) because you are a Graduate. There is no specialised research involved to gain entry to or to complete the Masters. To obtain a PG qualification such as a PhD you must be able to demonstrate extensive specialised research expertise in the specific field and this work is viewed as being of a "higher" or"further", hence the 'post' prefix, level than those who have obtained entry into a Graduate Masters/Grad Dip. program via Coursework or minor research.

UPOTYH: The Adam Goodes saga being dragged out by the media to drown out the buzz from the ICC and how soca is taking over Australia

So you believe that even when theres week long negative reporting about the AFL (which supposedly never happens), its still done to make the AFL look good?

I would disagree that it is making the AFL look bad. It is criticising the AFL fans but not the organisation or the sport. In fact now that all of the players are coming out in solidarity its basically pushing the narrative that the league is very accepting and wonderful and socially conscious but the fans just have to catch up. I highly doubt that this many players and media outlets believe its racism but they're standing up because its good pr.

That is some full blown tinfoil shit man. I think you and I would get along

I was sure there were more afl sympathisers on here than that. Clearly this 'opinion' isn't unpopular enough. I say opinion very lightly as well because it was more a throw away comment than anything else. I guess the thought of the media having ulterior motives would be tin foil thinking. They are always very fair and objective from all angles.

Obviously we all know it's just Crown... we all learnt that when we were fourteen but what I do find funny is how back when I was like 17 a six pack of Crownie's in a backyard party made you appear to have a lot of expendable income.

I haven't seen anyone drink a Crown bar the Australian Cricket team or my Ex's Grandpa for years.

You blokes are young - back when I was fourteen Fosters was the beer of choice for ladies, plebs just drank VB. Actually back then we had a choice of five beers: VB, MB, Crown, Carlton Draught, and Abbotsford stout. And every Christmas, the truck drivers at CUB would go on strike bu thankfully we knew people who worked at CUB and they had no problems getting their hands on beer.

Robin Williams, Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg aren't funny.

can't talk for Andy Samberg as I haven't seen much of him, but the other two go well

for me it comes down the ability to ablib in shows / live sets with Sandler and Williams.

take a look at the out takes for the TV series 'the Crazy Ones'. Robin Williams at his finest

This is going to be very controversial.... but Eli Babalj is probably the most over-rated footballer to play for our club. I do not understand the circle-jerk around him, average A-League player at best, and that was clearly evident with his failure at overseas clubs.

Almost worth a thread on its own this one. My nomination will be at least equally controversial - Damien Duff. Based on his performances for City I would never have picked him as coming to us straight out of the EPL.

For me Kisnorbo. Every time he gets the ball he butchers it. His only saving grace is his last second tackle, but this season being a little slower won't do that as well.

So my unpopular opinion is Kisnorbo is the most overrated player we have had.

It was not spellbinding stuff but TBF if he had played in the same position as he played for almost the entirety of his career in the EPL on the other wing he would be a 20% better player for us.

You mean that JvS played him in a much weaker position?? Who would have thought.

David Williams IMO is our most overrated player of all time.

The bloke couldn't score in a brothel and yet most people still talk about how much of a great striker he is ffs.

Who does? :hmm:

This is as bad as call as you saying that a JVS bad preseason is always followed up by a good JVS A-League season.

You really are on fire of late... I guess you are going for the trifecta tomorrow by going all the way down to Sleepy Hollow watch a football game you have no reason to attend other than to boo one individual football player.

Att cadete: have you got your period or something? How about a snickers? Why so angry?

The funny thing is I am not even angry and I actually had a good day today...

I just feel this forum has gone down the drain in posting standards and few whacks of the whip were needed to be delivered as PPL have been getting away with posting some real shite lately and then have not been pinged for it then doing it again and again. Good forums need kents so idiots learn how to post its the same on FA and I could even name the kents that do as such on Mong.net if your really bored.

But this place has lost a lot of good posters in the last nine or so months who you count on to make sure this crap was kept under control... guys like Malloy, Bazzatron, Braveheart and few others barely go on here or dont at all and it has seen the place gather some real dust. I am not talking about PPL posting shit that is ethically right or wrong I just mean posting unreadable shite like the stuff Strider normally delivers every fucken day.

So as easily the biggest kent on this forum I thought I pull out the whip today and do a bit of early spring cleaning.

NOTE: My shit with Telsa is just the general back and forward we have on here and in RL... probably more heightened by not being able to see him for months to discuss Balkan Genetics in RL.
