brothers 21st so out. spewing.

Bring him to the game, then go out :-)

Game's at 5:30pm, Walk up Batman Ave after the game and get some dinner at 8pm. Then drinks from 9:30pm at Spice Market. Spice Market closes at 2am, he'll spew his guts out and move on to Long Room which closes at 3am. Then you'll finish up at Fashion Lounge until 4pm and catch a cab home! ;-)

It will be interesting to see if JA throws up some surprises in selection after the last two insipid performances. Gerhardt and Germano back, looks like Fred will start. Whoever plays, we really need to see 11 players play with passion. Professional footballers shouldn't need external motivation, but if they can't respond to press like this from Davutovic in the Herald Sun, then something's wrong:

Time for Heart to show some ticker

TALK of battles and fighting spirit is more synonymous with the AFL and rugby league these days.

But though the A-League evolves tactically each year, there is still scope for talk of "rolling the sleeves up", "getting into the opposition's faces" and "getting stuck in".

That time has come for Melbourne Heart, which can throw tactics out the window for tomorrow's make or break clash with Western Sydney Wanderers.

It is telling that rather than reviewing their own performance on Monday, Adelaide United players' discussion centred on their astonishment at the lack of "fight" shown by Heart in the 2-0 loss at AAMI Park. Any latecomers would have thought Heart was protecting a lead, as there was no sense of urgency.

Confidence plays a part but there is clearly an internal issue relating to team spirit.

While Vince Grella would have given them that in spades, he is long gone, plus Heart has recruited a squad that has enough quality to make the six...

Too many of John Aloisi's players go missing when the game gets tough, and hide rather than demand the ball when they need to push forward in search of a goal.

Heart's two biggest fighters this season have been Patrick Gerhardt and Jonatan Germano, and it's no coincidence they were missing on Monday.

The game's tone is set with the midfield battle. When Wanderers last came to town, Popovic preferred defensive-minded, hard-nosed Italian Iacopo La Rocca to the silky skills of Aaron Mooy.

If Aloisi wants his players to fight, tackle and harass like Wanderers do, he could do far worse than throw Gerhardt and Germano into midfield.

It's time he mixed things up because the status quo isn't working.

Another huge concern is Eli Babalj, who looked as if he didn't want to be there, and that was evident from watching him warm up.

Monday was a battle between two of the most mentally fragile teams in the A-League. If Heart had scored first, and it came so close, there was every chance it would have scored another two or three - the hallmark of flat-track bullies.

Tomorrow is a big test for the club.

I think what pisses me off about it is that we should not be leaving it to the last handful of games in the season to get a sense of urgency. Every game is a six-pointer. The three points you get and deny your opponents are worth just as much at the start of the season as they are at the end of the season. What Davutovic says has been evident right from our first home game, when we couldn't show any sense of passion against a Wellington side with seven players missing and a goalkeeper signed just before the match. JA has persisted with the same game plan and the same out-of-form players when Blind Freddy could see that it wasn't working. I lost count of the times JA said that 'we played well' or 'we played well for 80 minutes' etc. etc. when we had thrown away another match. This has been the season from hell. I predicted a bottom four finish, but not the way we have regularly capitulated.

With Ono out, JA should take a risk and play one holding / def mid to mark Mooy, with 2 attacking mids playing behind the striker.  Vrankovic should keep his spot and PG should come in for SC.

RG should be one of the AM's, with Fred the other.  Kalmar can push out wide (with interchanging runs with RG), Gol Gol on the other wing, with Willo up front (switching at times with Gol Gol)

--------------Redders--------------

Walker ----DV-------PG------Thommo

---------------Germano---------------

Kalmar ---Garcia--Fred------Gol Gol

----------------Willow-------------------

Bench - Meeuwis, Tadic, SC, Bolton

There is plenty of mobility and options with this starting lineup

(I highly rate Babalj, but he is badly out of form and needs some time to get his confidence back)

I have a bad feeling. But good to see mitchinson back and although people on here bitch about Fred alot, last few weeks he has been lively

Really need Fred to re-capture his form or it'll be another sub standard display in the middle of the park. Still think Garcia has been at his best when played in the middle of the park, we lack any composure when he's not in there. Hopefully Gol Gol's inclusion gives us more of a threat on the flanks.

So:

Redmayne

Walker - Gerhardt - Colosimo - Mitchinson

Germano - Fred - Thompson

Garcia - Tadic - Mebrahtu

Bench: Bolton, Kalmar, Meeuwis, Williams

I would've changed Thommo and Meeuwis around. This line-up looks a lot better than last week's and it makes much more sense to me - don't know what JA was thinking last week.

The only changes I would make is drop Colosimo for Vrankovic and Thompson out for Babalj, but keep Eli on the bench, as so:

Redmayne

Walker - Gerhardt - Vrankovic - Mitchinson

Germano - Fred - Meeuwis

Garcia - Tadic - Mebrahtu

Bench: Bolton, Kalmar, Babalj, Williams
