Out: Colosimo, Gerhardt (suspended)

In: Gray, Vrankovic

Reckon the boys will be absolutely spewing, will break our Cake tun duck against a not very impressive Nux side...

...or we'll see a completely diabolical, spineless performance coming down from a spirited derby display.

Will the real MHFC please stand up?

Well that's the thing about our team, we either play really well or really poorly. We've only played well away from Melbourne twice (Roar & Sydney last season), and never in Wellington. Its like the team has decided that it's going to lose and approaches the game with that philosophy. We need a sports psychologist to work with the team. Clearly we have the talent to win if we play with discipline and intensity for 90 minutes without switching off. I'd love to see it.

Wellington - 4

Melbourne - 1

Not a chance we will pick up a point this game, with our first 2 CB unavailable.

The nix to run all over us to all but end our season(as if it isn't already).

Looking forward to 2013-14 season now, hopefully a few of the youth kids can step up to permanent first team football.

We need to win this one. Gol Gol should start. His pace will trouble them. If we win the middle the game is ours. This is so important to win as we have two home games coming up. Could be the start of a winnig run.

Most important game of the season. Can't lose this one.

We need to go on a run now, the performance was encouraging against Victory mainly because the intensity was up, we need that level here and to take our chances.

Can't lose, draw won't help so its vital we need a win.

I agree need to start GolGol.

every game from now until march is must win for this club. squad wise, we're looking better, if we had just a stroke of luck sat nyt, we would have easily scored 4, but it didn't play out that way. we've almost got it right...just needs to click into place. predicting a draw.

Apparently Ersin Kaya is going to get his first call up?

Sounds to me then that Matty Thompson might be pushed back into defence, Richie into center Midfield and Kaya into Richies on the wings with Willo. Interesting move.

Another token youth call up. just To prove our youth policy is still limping along.

The yoof we've called up this year have definitely delivered, wouldn't exactly call Walker, Mitchinson and Garruccio limping along.

Keep saying it but really hope we can how we use the bench. I am not a JA hater and find calls for him to be sacked in the short term ridiculous but IMO he is really struggling with the restricted A-League bench. Macallister on for Fred in last few mins in a good example. How often do we just use a sub/subs very late on JUST to get fresh legs, causing balance/structure issues?

Melbourne Heart's festive season took a turn for the worse early on Boxing Day when its Croatian striker, Josip Tadic, was forbidden from flying to New Zealand with his team-mates for the Thursday clash with Wellington Phoenix.

The forward did not have the requisite visa to travel, so had to wait at the airport while the rest of the Heart party took off.

But club officials were able to make the necessary calls and to ensure the forward had the right papers to allow him to travel to across the ditch on a later flight early on Wednesday afternoon.

Heart is already weakened by the loss of first choice centre backs Simon Colosimo and Patrick Gerhardt to suspension, while Socceroos Aziz Behich and Richard Garcia have been left in Melbourne to give them time to rest and recuperate following their busy schedule through December.

Irishman Steven Gray, a mature age recruit, is likely to be given a Heart debut in the centre of defence alongside teenager David Vrankovic.

Jason Hoffman could come in for Garcia, while younger Sam Mitchinson, who deputised for Behich while the latter was with the Socceroos in Hong Kong, looks the obvious replacement at left back.

Jeremy Walker, who impressed in a couple of games earlier in the year, and newcomer Ersin Kaya, have also been promoted to the matchday squad from the youth team.
