He came here from South America and has not been in Europe since a small stint in 2009...

I doubt with his injury concerns that his really on the radar of many European Clubs.

He has stated his intentions to return to euorpe one day. This is common knowlege.

With the amount of clubs in euorpe (500+) , i find it difficult to believe that based on last seasons performace NOBODY will be interested? Especially based on his current wage.

Lets hope we can keep him here.

He plays with heart, and thats what this club needs more than anything.

Like who?

Not saying I don't rate him at all, just I think he's over rated by a lot of Heart fans.

I agree with Emu that out of all of the players in the Heart Squad he is the most overrated by MH fans in particular those on here.

The guy has some problems marking, and more so crossing and shooting:

All of which seems to be glossed over by his army fans due to insane ability to run and dribble.

Reminds of when Celtic Fans used to go on and on about how about how Wing Back Didier Agathe should of been selected for the French Squad due to him sharing the same ability to thrill crowds with a similar skillset to the one Aziz has...

Behich is awesome, but maybe they should have converted him to a winger from when he signed for Heart and tied down Goodwin to the LB role. Seriously though he is still pretty good compared to most other left backs in the league. I don't see many other consistent "good crossers" of the ball in that position anyway...

I dont want to sound like a broken record but Goodwin is one such player who had a decent cross who could play LB.

As full time footballers there must be enough hours in the day to practice crossing and shooting. After all, they have time to play golf when it is daylight.

These guys have the ability so why not the consistency?

If these guys had a bit more consistency they would be playing at least J League not A League.

Lol. We converted Behich to a LB, FROM a winger.

Preview: Melbourne Heart v Central Coast

25/10/2012 11:27 AM

Michael Huguenin

Date: Sunday 28 October, 2012

Kick-off: 3.00pm AEDT

Venue: AAMI Park

Head-to-head

Played: 6 Wins: Melbourne Heart 1, Central Coast 4, Draws: 1

Previous encounter

Melbourne Heart 1, Central Coast 0, 26 February 2012

Form:

Past five matches:

Melbourne Heart: LDWLD

Central Coast: LWDLL

The Game

Both Melbourne Heart and the Central Coast Mariners will be keen to take three points at AAMI Park on Sunday after losing last week. Heart and the Mariners both have four points from three matches with league-leaders Adelaide United on six.

Melbourne's head coach John Aloisi is expected to bring Simon Colosimo straight back into central defence after the 33-year-old served a one-match suspension in the 2-0 defeat away to Perth Glory. In another boost for the home team, captain Fred should play against the Mariners despite being substituted at half-time in Perth after being struck in the eye. But Aloisi has ruled out selecting new signing Vince Grella, who arrived in Melbourne this week.

After a tough 2-1 loss to local rivals Newcastle Jets, the Mariners have no serious injury concerns but head coach Graham Arnold needs to improve his attack after just two goals so far this season.

The big issue

Melbourne Heart - Aloisi hopes the recruitment of Grella should help Heart control games more often. But after the Red and Whites were dominated by Perth, can Aloisi's current midfield of Richard Garcia, Matt Thompson and Fred do enough against the Mariners' Nick Montgomery and John Hutchinson? Montgomery and Hutchinson are similarly physical to the Glory's Jacob Burns, Liam Miller and Steven McGarry, which will provide a tough test for Heart's engine room.

Central Coast - In Central Coast's three matches this season, Arnold has selected a different group of attackers each time. Having scored just two goals from 11 shots on target so far, when will Arnold find an attacking set-up that works? Bernie Ibini-Isei has come off the bench twice, while he started in the 1-0 win over Perth, but the 20-year-old striker still seems the Mariners' best goalscoring threat.

Gamebreaker

Considering the Mariners' goalscoring problems, Tom Rogic will clearly be crucial if Arnold's side are to win in Melbourne. The 19-year-old attacking midfielder scored two stunning goals for Central Coast last season and he may need to bypass his strikers and go it alone to give the Mariners a chance of victory.

Prediction

Melbourne Heart 1-1 Central Coast. Both these sides found it difficult to score goals at different periods during last season and that has continued into the new campaign, which hints at a tight contest on Sunday.

The Mariners must be wary of the home team's ability on the counter-attack with Mate Dugandzic and Aziz Behich providing pace out wide for Heart and if the two speedsters have a good game, it could be a fun day for Melbourne's fans.

Apart from Rogic, Central Coast will need better performances from full-backs Josh Rose and Pedj Bojic to keep the Heart's wide players quiet and provide some penetration in attack.

Re earlier, Mark Bosnich was talking up Aziz Behich for Socceroos duty on the SEN morning show just prior to the recent world cup qualifier. I can't remember who Holger played at left back, but it was deemed to be a "place filler" and Bosnich was lamenting that a decent specialist left back was sitting at home in Melbourne.

Aloisi keen for Heart to recapture early form

October 28, 2012

Michael Lynch

MELBOURNE HEART got off to the best possible start to the season with a pulsating win over Melbourne Victory in round one. But John Aloisi's side is in danger of frittering away its momentum and needs to get back on track with three points today at AAMI Park.

Heart should have beaten a seriously undermanned Wellington in round two, and while few would have been surprised they got nothing from a trip to Perth last weekend, their four points out of nine are less than they would have hoped for.

Life doesn't get any easier and, for a team needing three points, an encounter with the Central Coast Mariners this afternoon looms as one of their more difficult assignments.

Aloisi will shake things up and is poised to bring teenage winger Ben Garuccio into the squad, while key defender Simon Colosimo, whose dismissal against Wellington compounded Heart's problems, returns from a one-match suspension. Young centre-back David Vrankovic is set to return to the bench as a result.

Captain Fred, who was forced to leave the pitch with an eye injury at half-time in the 2-0 loss to Glory, has recovered and is expected to lead the side today.

The Mariners reckon they should have got something from the game against Newcastle last week, which the Jets won courtesy of some controversial decisions, including a soft penalty won by Emile Heskey.

The club from Gosford have been one of the most consistent teams in the competition and, although they have never won the championship, the Mariners have featured in three grand finals.

Graham Arnold has added structure and organisation to a battle-hardened group marshalled on the pitch by Dutch centre-back Patrick Zwaanswijk, but scoring goals has not been easy. Statistics show the Mariners have converted only twice this season from 11 attempts on goal, as Arnold juggles his striking options to find the right combination.

In Tommy Rogic, Central Coast have a rising star and the teenage attacking midfielder could play a pivotal role in this game if Heart do not track him from deeper positions.

Vince Grella has been training with his new teammates all week but Aloisi will not risk him until he gains full fitness, which could be a month away.

Clint Bolton, Heart's veteran goalkeeper, yesterday said the Mariners would be anxious to make amends for their slow start to the season.

''The Mariners will be exactly what they have been over the last few years. They will be strong all over the park. They have not started the season to their expectations so we expect them to be very fired up,'' he said.

''They are dangerous all over the pitch, in the front third and from set-pieces with the tall guys from the back. If you had to pick out anyone that concerns you in particular, it would be their wide backs [Josh Rose and Pedj Bojic], who get forward and produce a lot of goals.

''Getting points is where it counts; the earlier [in the season] you get the points, the pressure releases.''

would rather do many many things than watch the replay of that one.

Garrucio is very very promising but that was about it.

Terrace was a bit of a mess aswell, energy seemed good at the start then went downhill quick and was a bit of a rabble with 25

capos starting chants left, right and centre. think it didn't help that the game was boring as all shit in the first half aswell.

improvement to be had everywhere, but it should come.

I saw the same issues that I've seen for the first 2 seasons: we always play better active ball possession and teams and struggle against reactive teams like CCM as we are unable to dominate games and totally unable to break down a defence. This requires good ball speed and movement off the ball and accurate passes, we have none of those on show so far. We are slow in transition and struggle to get players forward, we were always outnumbered by defenders and most of our final balls were poor. Once Fred left we lost control of midfield but were too slow to counter-attack. Nobody wants to shoot for goal when we get the ball to the box but neither are there good runs to pass the ball to.

This is a big problem for our club, whilst our home record remains so poor we will not grow our membership nor game attendance.

Mate was fantastic replacing Fred.

Thomo was pathetic at best.

Marrone is lucky to even get a game.

Garcia should stop chewing gum and start playing football. Stop crying when the ball isn't played to you.

Tardic. Need I say anything?

That first half performance was embarrassing.

Our performance on a whole was very sad.

Mate and willo were our only shinning lights. Gerart in the middle looks very good. Shame he only had 20min there.
