  1. Just another stuff-up by Football Australia and APL. I'm getting used to them. But it's just another reason why the fans drift away, and probably why players don't really want to stay here.
  2. Members, 16/2/24 We're being targeted by spammers. Please notify either Malloy or me if you see one that you think we may have missed. Thank you, jw
  3. I suspect that Vidmar has reached the same point as Rado did. The performance of the whole is far less than it should be when considering the sum of its parts, and he doesn't know what to do about it.
  4. Was there ever a season with so much despondency? Club and fans seem to have lost their way. Even with Unlucky John and Wazza we somehow had spirit, but now it all seems just too hard...
  5. If he was mouthing off in German does anyone really believe that? Seems to me everyone was gunning for him right from the start - 4 weeks was being bandied around in the media immediately after the match. I don't think we're the most popular club in the League.
  6. It does. It's compounded by having a slow defence. As and when we concede, and time permits, we need to revert to a medium press at least, and possibly even the "park the bus" for a few minutes. IMO it's a mistake to have a CF as captain. You need a captain in defence or DM to be marshalling the defensive lines in these situations. The "high press" is a good strategy. What we are not doing is adjusting our tactics within that strategy to suit the presenting situation.
  7. Whilst I completely agree with you, the "park the bus" style does not fit the "high press" theory of the "city way." The "high press" style of play is very vulnerable to the quick counter-attack. There's a good discussion here. https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/counter-pressing-gegenpressing-football-tactics-explained-klopp-guardiola-bielsa-hasenhuttl/
  8. Gauci? Anyway, it doesn't matter in a way. What's done is done. What we need to do as a club is to learn from any lessons that this season can teach us. After a period of sustained success this is not easy for anyone.
  9. Well, I don't know. We go to the trouble of stealing the highly-rated Beach from Central Coast and give him a three-year contract, and then he hasn't played a minute.
  10. I've asked that question too. In the senior squad on a Scholarship, but never even gets a mention. You do have to wonder what's going on...
  11. I don't understand anyone wearing black at this time of the year... Or people out "training" or "exercising" at our summer temperatures. They are just damaging their kidneys for later. TTIM...being a Melbourne City supporter, member and fan...it's like a habit that you can't give up.
  12. Can understand Aziz, but only for one year. Young and Souprayen simply getting in the way of younger players. No question in my mind that the present situation is the result of Petrillo's mis-management. We can't keep players, we can't keep coaches, and we're signing players at the end of their careers for too long.
  13. It's the same up front. Only Mazzeo goes beyond this season. Dreadful recruiting/contract management by Petrillo all over the park.
  14. VPL 1 U23s Caroline Springs George Cross 0 Melbourne City 2. VPL 1 Caroline Springs George Cross 3 Melbourne City 2. No idea on our teams or scorers.
  15. What we've been saying ever since the GF defeat last season. On this, what does Caputo have to do to get more than 10 minutes? He'll just leave if he doesn't get match time.
  16. Likewise adults with or without children who ride on the footpath in the suburbs who come up ringing their bells furiously expecting you to step aside for them. Fuck off because I'm an old guy. Unless a designated shareway or cycle path only children <12 are legally allowed to ride on a footpath.
  17. TTIM: All this shit about Taylor Swift. I couldn't care who she is or what she's doing. More important news than her.
  18. We can't keep using that excuse. What does he mean by "training well?" 25 blokes playing mini-games against each other is no use if you can't adapt when you're in a competitive match. We're predictable and as boring as batshit to watch.
  19. I don't think it would make any difference myself, but if anyone, then yes, Jamo. Everyone realises that, but what this season shows is that the replacements, whether from inside or outside, just aren't up to it. And players and coaches are still leaving the club. IMO this indicates a deep-seated problem within the club.
  20. Agree. When he joined he said his first priority was to restore some pride into the squad. It hasn't happened. There have been departures other than just players and the problems are way deeper than Vidmar. Natel, Jeggo, Fernandez - all panic signings IMO. There's a crock of shit in the club somewhere.
  21. Time for a complete rebuild. I don't want to see anyone here next season whose contract expires at the end of this one. It's absurd to be paying some of these players the amounts they are reported to be on. We're a development league - let's see some developing players.
  22. For his own sake I hope he resigns immediately. There is something fundamentally wrong at the club. It's deep-seated and until it's fixed no individual new coach/manager can fix it. Rado knew it and walked. If Vidmar has any sense he will too.
  23. I don't care what anyone says. There is something fundamentally wrong at the club and has been since before the end of last season.
  24. Now the highest - 32 goals. It's a very open competition this season.
