  1. I agree. Generally speaking I agree with what he is saying, but can only handle in small doses. They played "Capitalism- a love story" on SBS over the weekend and fuck me it was terrible film making
  2. Well thats hard to say. He is not particularly popular within NRL circles (not just in Vic) but there a number of people who feel that he did the best he could and that its more the NRL board of directors holding the game back. Under his administration he has only yesterday landed the NRL a bigger TV deal than the AFL, so take from that what you will. * also according to some the booing of Gallop that day apparently had a lot to do with channel 9's lack of coverage of the NRL. Remind me who was the CEO of Channel 9 again? Eddie who? Isnt he one of the biggest sporting xenophobes in the country? What?! As soon as he has gone and 9 start playing live NRL? Hmmmmm
  3. In terms of any comments/attitude Gallop had before the breach, I cant really comment on because I cant thank of any examples off the top of my head (although admittedly I dont follow things all that closely). I was (perhaps incorrectly) under the impression that the NRL actually liked having a successful club in Melbourne as a kind of "up yours" to the AFL despite all their efforts to bury the game in Vic. You are not wrong about people from NSW hating the Storm. Every time I go back to visit that wasteland known as Newcastle I do it in the knowledge that I will be required to defend the Storm and (usually unsuccessfully) defuse the myth that Victorians are undeserving of a club, that they are uneducated in anything to do with Rugby League and that they actually get preferential treatment from the NRL. I absolutely agree that the Storm is an unbelievable achievement and is a monument to Victorians love of sport and willingness to support their local clubs.
  4. (I assume you are referring to the "terrorists" comments?) I was actually at the game they were booing him (in the away bay of course) and we all said the same thing. "What the hell are you booing him for you pack of idiots?! Maybe you should be booing the administration of your club instead of the NRL" I agree that does not excuse the delivery of his comments but I agree with what he was actually trying to say. Hiding behind passion to excuse stupid behavior is lame. Kind of sounds like Victories "we abused a child until he was in tears because was wearing a heart scarf in our bay and we are passionate!"
  5. Well yes. It was a really stupid thing to say, but I think its been taken way out of context.
  6. Every Kiwi I know (including my family from my mothers side ) has a good sense of humour about people making fun of their accent and knows its just a bit of fun. Calm down mate.
  7. I think its a good idea but not sure if there would be enough interest initially. Prob best to start somewhere central (i am sure they wouldnt mind holding them upstairs at the imp) and then start branching out after things take off a bit. Keep up the ideas coming!
  8. Some great stuff on there. Will def have to have a good look through when I get time
  9. How so? I am just reporting A-League news that came from an official clubs FB page. Yes, I am having a bit of fun making fun of Kiwi accents while doing it but it is still legit news.
  10. Nope! http://www.facebook.com/wellingtonphoenixfc

  12. Their new mascot looks like a chicken -oops, I mean theer new miscot looks a but like a chucken, eh?
  13. Stade Louis II, Monaco
  14. They must have a huge problem with people shooting up in the stadium
  15. I think it would be a great idea to start with Subbuteo workshops to begin with to introduce people to the game (show them how to play, techniques, etc) which will build up a bit of a scene and then go from there. Going by the reactions of people on here, you would have quite a number of people interested. BTW- do you have the link to the WASPA facebook group? I couldnt find it.
  16. Lol. No worries. As long as there is weird football related shit on the internet, I will be there to find it and share!
  17. I legit thought this was a joke when I first heard about it, but apparently not. Uraguyan goal keeper Pablo Aurrecochea, who currently plays for Paraguayan club Guarani must be mates with the blokes that make his kits because apparently he is immune from having the clubs kit sponsor plastered on his guts. Instead he opts to don a series of shirts showing his fondness of cartoon characters? Football is indeed a funny game... particularly in South America!
  18. I love it when you discover other football fans with a sense of humor just as weird as your own http://www.fitbathatba.com/
  19. Some great quirky design work on this blog http://www.ongoalsscored.com/
