  1. Absolute rubbish. A situation entirely of the club's own making. Failed to sign enough forwards before the season started, instead signing a plethora of midfielders and defenders. Added to the defensive midfielders in the January window while terminating Caceres and O'Halloran and suspending Fornaroli. All levels of management failing to resolve the Fornaroli situation, despite the player continuing to train and be part of the club. Failing to use all the options available outside the salary cap (such as Mature Age Rookie). Failing to promote the club's own youth striker. Just more sky blue bullshit from City Football Group.

  2. IMO people are indeed being unduly negative. You can only play against the team the opposition puts on to the field. By the end of the match we also had plenty of youth on the field - Atkinson (best game from him for quite a while - loved the way he outmuscled Kamau), McGree, Wales and Najjar. Thought the latter gave a nice little cameo - moved around well and pulled the defenders with him - just what we need in the front line. Double yellow cards are a feature of football - every club gets one at some time or other - and you have to take advantage of them and that's what we did. We could so easily have given up last night, but we kept going and ultimately prevailed. We needed the points and we got them. Also I think for the first time this season we were properly entertained with some spanking goals and plenty of near misses. TBH I thought with 7 minutes to go we were done for, but what a finish it was. What a pity that only 5,159 were there to see it - our lowest crowd since the takeover. Seagull Index: Low.

  3. No, Bart apparently is only the 41st best player in the league according to the Herald Sun's assessment at the start of the season. Lol what dickheads.

  4. If anyone needs to be relegated to the bench it's this guy. Putrid all season.

  6. How is spastic Munn still our CEO is beyond me. Does he still exist apart from picking up his pay check?? What's the best email I can't send to this idiot? But as I mentioned before, you can't fault the people who call - they are only doing their jobs. I bet they feel the same way and probably are not even paid members themselves. I'll keep going to games as I have been since day 1 but I am already looking forward to the end of the season and HOPING next season will bring something new........ which I have been saying for 9 seasons now.

  7. And then the emotion after the goal and after the game. The rage/joy of winning the game and then pretty much instantly putting the lid back on. No laughing, no carrying on: "We were terrible, the goals we gave up were so cheap, we've got to be better." Precisely what I wanted to hear from a player after that. There's a bloke who's in tune with how the supporters are feeling.

  9. Given the fabulous entertainment last night, a lot of the comments on here are incredibly negative. It seems a lot of people forget that WSW's results have been a lot worse than their recent performances. This was a team that was deservedly 3-1 up against Perth with only minutes to go last week. They had pace to burn and caused our previously rock solid defence a lot of problems. Meanwhile, apparently, our system doesn't work offensively but we scored four goals. Go figure. Folks, we'll finish fourth, we won't win the Toilet Seat, but I'd rather get there with a few more games like that. Last night was a proper, entertaining contest and I'm bloody glad I went.

  10. True. However we were going to lose that game before the send off, so the coach and players successfully capitalised on the advantage. i think those claiming Najjar changed the game should maybe watch the match again. Great to see the kid get a run but we were all over them before De Laet scores, just the shot wasn’t going in.

  12. It is easy to find negatives and there are plenty of them. But this morning I enjoyed a very entertaining game. Yes we left ourselves a bit exposed at the back when chasing the game however what did come to light this morning was when we attack, we can score goals with or without a striker. How many times do we score 4 goals with Joyce in charge, he needs to get the defensive block out of his system and play a more balanced tactic.

  13. Could be a line in the sand game which sparks some belief from our players, or it could be an accurate reflection of the level we are at (scraping home against a team that's basically done for the season). At some point Bart has to be in the discussion as arguably our greatest ever. He'll likely be ahead of Mooy on games by the end of the season and about half a season behind Fornaroli. And he's just given the sort of interview that restores your faith in the club, that at least some of the players aren't deluded (De Laet wasn't quite as brutal as Bart, but also pretty honest). Has Bart's last two years been as good as Mooy's 14/15-15/16? Fornaroli's 15/16-16/17? Not quite. But he has been absolutely outstanding.

  14. What a massively frustrating night. The team wsw put out was horrendous and we still made them look good for a chunk of it. Bonevacia should of had a 2nd yellow for belting the ball out of frustration and we completely battered them after the red. De Laet and others celebrating the 3rd did my fucking head in. Really? Celebrating an equaliser against a bottom team at home with an extra man. It was Najjar that told them to get ready and push for another. Jamos is mediocre at best, frenchy is shit and mcgree needs to release the baller sooner. Fucked around with it way too much. Anyway a memorable night for the loyal members that turn up

  15. RDL for me, honourable mentions to Bratts and imo Florin was good first half. Wales and Atkinson terrific when subbed on, and a nice little cameo from Najjar. Thought he showed more than Najjarine has across all his matches so far.

  21. I’m not going. Ultimately a mid week game is a colossal pain in the arse to attend and if I was to suck up the hassle for it, it wouldn’t be to watch Joyceball. Easier to watch on Foxtel in my living room.

  22. Fancy that. An organisation comprising mostly of women, fighting for women's rights are the influencing factor in whether a man coaching a group of girls is adequate enough to perform his role. No chance of bias there.

  23. The comp as a whole needs a lift. Independent league, no salary cap, fuck of Wellington, promotion league till we get 20 teams, then ongoing promotion / relegation playoffs ... blah, blah, blah, etc, etc! I'll be there tonight, and looking forward to it.

  24. Credit to the lads in active that are trying to create an atmosphere and all the fans that will attend tonight

  25. I can see why they brought him in. Tough, used to dealing with bigger named players, uncompromising. I think there's little doubt that he was brought in to change the culture of the club. However in their quest for cultural change it seems they have overlooked the football that would be delivered by Joyce. This is an ultimate fail. And they also didn't foresee the relationships that he would eventually burn within the squad to achieve his ideal squad environment. Those relationships have left us without a number of big named players. It probably didn't even enter their minds. Munn, Pearce and anyone else who's involved need to put their hand up and take responsibility for two major decisions that have shaped our current predicament. One, the hiring of JVS. And two, the hiring of Joyce. Both of which haven't brought us success.

  26. TBH, I could not countenance not going. I don't think the club pays much attention to what the attendance is - some attention, but not a lot. IMO if there's a beef with the club, write to them and calmly explain what it is you're on about. I just wrote to them about being unable to hear the questions whenever a video is released of an interview with Joyce - e.g. the pre-match presser for tonight - and suggested the use of a roving microphone so that we could hear the questions. Will action be taken? I don't know, but I think that's the best way to approach these things. If you're a season-ticket holder you do have a right to raise issues with the club. IMO match protests work if the media picks them up. But I don't think staying away does so. But each to his own. That's probably close to the truth. Joe Pala is our longest-serving "Assistant Coach" and IMO he has a good record with the Academy boys. Really like what he's done for the club.

  27. They haven’t won in 7 games. We’ll get another boring 1-0 win with our only shot of the game.

  28. Indeed. Such an important night. We were only minutes away from probably the lowest ebb in our WJ era at least. Yet the team came through and hopefully they can take that fightback spirit into the backend of this season. I found the brawl very interesting. It was as much about the frustrations around the internal bullshit coming out as it was over falling behind to WSW. Clearly there is passion and spirit in this team, so the result last night and the manner in which it was obtained was oh so important to hopefully harness it moving forward. Sure, there were many errors last night but hey, at least we were entertained and my lot left the ground feeling quite exhilarated. I get the whole defending the game when we are in front mantra, but we have shown this season that we can attack hard - it only seems to happen when we go behind though. See CCm x 2, Victory, WSW matches... Hopefully tweaks can be made from the coaching structure that will allow us to play in a more balanced attack/defence style instead of the 'either one or the other' 'method we seem to have at the moment.

  30. And really, on another day we could have very conceivably had 8 or 9. Likewise WSW had another couple of chances with Sotirio they should have done more with. Anyways i thought on balance we were definitely the better side and deserved the three points, we need to make sure we dont let those silly individual errors creep in like last season, which we've seen in the games v WSW and CCM in the last week.

  32. Real mixed feelings after that game. It was great to win, Heart would have lost that game every single time, we kept fighting until the 94th minute. Very entertaining for the neutral. However... Positives: Najjar, please play him again this season Wazza. We didn't lose, we tried hard to though Negatives: We barely had control of this game apart from the final 10 minutes and always looked like we could concede Our defence was poorly organised tonight. Jamieson was very poor, again, despite the assist We struggled to beat the 8th team at home, even when they had 10 players Same attacking problems until Najjar came on, far too late in the game, it should have been at the latest when the shit Baccus went off These are games we need to win convincingly, we were lucky. Bart summed it up very clearly in his post-game interview, he deserved MOM just for that interview alone

  35. Conspiracy time.... Joyce knew Ritchie wants to play striker. Part of contract discussions was that he would be our striker. Since Joyce is best mates with him, he'll keep his promise. How could he make sure De Laet plays striker?.... Alienate our current striker for unknown reasons. Wow. We have not conceded a shot from outside the box this season

  36. Just as I thought playing his strongest team. I believe it will be his favoured 4:2:3:1 With DeLaet up front and McGree, Brattand and Berenguer Behind him. With Baccus and Grifffiths sitting midfielders. And a back 4 of Atkinson Good Bart and Jamieson.

  38. I thought I saw that against Perth. A few gesticulations and a little bit of chat between players. Particularly when someone didn't run for the return pass. They're only human, like us. Some of them probably thinking about next season.

  39. I don't believe that these people are living in the real world. Asking people to renew a membership after all that has happened? If it's true that the Fornaroli Stand-Off is irreconcilable, then all of us should be given a full refund of our memberships and free admission to the remaining matches this season. We have been misled, if not for the whole season, ever since the Phoenix match. Because it's clear that the main objective is not to win silverware, but to make some kind of internal political statement about who's boss. Therefore we have not received what we paid for. Bratts' comments yesterday, and those a couple of weeks ago from Jamo, our captain, show that the playing group is not united behind Joyce. The guy is an arsehole, and so are Petrillo and Munn, and everyother dead-shit involved in the management of City.

  42. I’m a bit disappointed we’ve never given Najjar a look in around the match day squad and no time off the bench prior to this. Now in desperation we seem likely to push him in at the deep end (start). Doesn’t strike me as well managed
