  1. Melbourne Heart had an identity and people chose to follow it. City came along and forcefully changed it's identity and alot of people felt obliged to continue to follow. You can see it in the stands - some people wear sky blue, some people red and white. Mixed up like the clubs identity. The only reason people put up with the take over and forced change of identity was the money which doesn't help build a strong identity.

  2. Because Brattan is starting to score a little too regularly now for Joyce's liking...

  3. I think you're going a bit too far here. If Joyce was freezing out O'Halloran completely he wouldn't have selected him for the Adelaide squad at all. It could well be that he brought Najjarine on instead of O'Halloran in the 23rd minute because he didn't want to risk the latter playing 70 minutes, when the intention for the match was to give him, say, 10-20. All this speculation about what's going to happen will be confirmed as correct or incorrect come 3rd January.

  4. Personally, I was initially exited about the takeover and continued to follow us as city in the hopes CFG would fix a lot of the mistakes made by Heart (and as much as I loved them- like the way you love a scruffy dog) they certainly had a lot to fix. Unfortunately all they seem to have done is removed the stuff I liked and kept the stuff I wanted to change.

  5. If I had a dollar every time you said that I'd be a rich man. I feel the same my friend, but I won't be leaving this club. No spastic like Aloisi or no hard nosed old mate Wazza will make me dump my membership. Hopefully, in my lifetime Melbourne City will pack out AAMI park. I won't give up hope that's for sure.

  7. I still find it staggering that with all our supposed scouts all around the world, when it comes to finding a visa marquee striker, we look at a guy who plays at the same stadium as us who I could have found

  8. Agreed - and it does my fukn head in that we're at a point now where people on here are actually disappointed we won and still only look at the negatives of a game. The one massive positive for me out of this game is that we now go into a derby with a win behind us. A loss last night would have made this week unbearable.

  9. Fwiw at any other point in time if we played away in Adelaide, lost our marquee in the first 10 minutes of the game, subbed on an inexperienced youngster and won 2-0 we'd be ecstatic and praising the team. Funny how things have changed so drastically.

  10. Man if we were to go over the inexplicable names that have been released the last 18 months you could field a title winning side and add Bruno Brattan and Caceras. I'm just over it. These fuckers have built 4 decent teams in 2 seasons and royally fucked it. Problem is that the end is nowhere near in sight.

  11. If we lose both Brattan and Fornaroli to WSW and what we get in return is the two Bacchus brothers.. FMD we might as well not bother to show up.

  12. Full marks for troll work for @kingofhearts. as to ex A League strikers, I would have thought Bobo would be a lot more interesting. To be honest I’m not sure what sort of striker would fit The Idiot. I guess: * press like a madman * be able to put away their one chance a game *be a set piece threat * train like a lunatic * say “how high sir”

  13. I'm so hoping there will be some news to lift us JW. I can't rouse much enthusiasm for the club right now. Time for a serious reset with the fans.

  14. CFG are looking to pull a switcheroo, hoping that with the Navy Blue and Berisha Victory fans might mistakenly turn up at our games.

  16. By the way before some whizkid comes up with the bright idea to do a bit of "Copy and Paste"... Take it now this as Preemptive Cease or Desist from those who dissolved Yarraside at the ending of our football club in that of Melbourne Heart that the name "Yarraside" is remaining only ever as an Group connected to Melbourne Heart FC. A club which now sits firmly among many others in the annuals of Deceased Australian Sokka Clubs.

  18. I've largely lost interest in the Club these days due to CFG's persistent ignorance/uninterest in Melbourne as anything other than a side project. After reading the comments above about the forum being relatively measured compared to Facebook, I had a look at the last month's engagements by the club. Fuck me! The club is completely tone deaf and are two steps removed from reality, and the supporters are certainly letting them know about it. On the flipside, if anyone is studying PR, Melbourne City is an excellent example of what not do with fan engagement.

  19. I'm on record at the time (May/June 2017) saying I thought we made a big mistake letting Retre go. IMO he showed a lot more in his appearances with us than Caceres has done. At the start of last season, when Caceres left for the Middle East, Joyce seemed genuinely disappointed, so I'm surprised at the current situation.

  22. I agree with most of your post. But I'd say It's a sign that people are so dissponted with many aspects of the club that even a win can't mask it. Not really. There are so many people that resonate these sentiments.

  25. If that is true this club has well and truly lost the fucking plot. On game day I feel apathetic and Monday to Friday is just anger and frustation. In short this club is fucked.

  31. I fell asleep by the 60th minute so this is all I witnessed. 0-2 win was great. It was the worst football I have seen for a long time. No goals from open play, nor any creativity at all. Attacking metrics are very concerning, in other words we can't score off our own back. Adelaide are bad, very bad, and we still couldn't manufacture a goal. Their defensive errors were epic. But we won so job done. Let's see where our goals come from next week. I want to know why our more senior players are getting injured.

  32. That the reason Man United are shit is some reason why Football is Shit. As soon as a Football Club that has been so dominant for such a long period of time falls down the table you ask all the basic questions and some the answers can explain the reason why things are not working at Man Untied. I had thought about it all and I just landed on the answer that the Club Culture up top and in the changing room was poor. However its not that. It is because that there is no almost complete fluidity in Player Transfers and the Money paid for Players (ESP Young Players) is almost overs at the end of the day. The Transfer Market is now truly a recognized free market with a highly priced trade-able commodity - Think about these days using whatever rule whether Transfer or often a Loan a deal can be made to switch a player when a switch is needed. Some Ballers have come and they have seen the market and they have released that if they can build farms of players and then work to keep others out and also set the prices so basically they have some sort of Legal Cartel of Talented Young Footballers on their hands. It makes sense when all the player transfers become more logical by the minute. This is because the number of trading organisations involved in trading the best young players is now rather limited compared to ten years ago. Its no coincidence Celtic are playing good football... CFG and whoever else have chosen them as a good College Football Club before bigger things. I dont think CFG control the whole market, I am sure there quite a few other big players than CFG are a massive player who other have to do deals with and when they do.. at the end of day CFG (the biggest farm of players) will stress with other when making deals is that its in there interest to never do anything that but profit Manchester United. Ever wondered why u cant warm to City, its cos its just the bottom paddock in the CFG Farm.

  34. Munn gave Yarraside the best deal any Active End Operators had during the time of Heart, personally I dont know about him as being a good CEO in general (TBH his been around for the long with not much to point at) however his communication with Yarraside could not be faulted in what were the FFA standards on Active Support at the time. Understandably things at the FFA on these things have gotten stricter and stricter, and I know Munn has adjusted alongside these rules to some extent but Munn was almost never the deciding factor when it came to restrictions on Yarraside.

  35. I am calling bs on the "Scott Munn hates active" narrative. Never, and I can't stress this enough, had an issue with him when we were running it.

  36. Well I gave us a snowball's chance in hell of getting anything out of this match. In the end, typical away win, not pretty, absorbed a lot of pressure, took our chances and rode our luck. Credit to a defence that held up well, and increasingly impressed with Delbridge, who is looking head and shoulders above where he was last season. Also liking what I'm seeing from Lachie and Riley. Downsides? On another day it wouldn't have worked out as well. We struggle to create chances, we're not easy to watch, and we obviously and desperately lack a striker. Perth and Victory are already way ahead, and the best we're doing is fighting Sydney for third. We're still horribly inconsistent so that's probably way too optimistic in itself. Unfortunately we find ourselves waiting for the transfer window again. De Laet is injured, Bruno frozen out and the Melburnians have imploded, again.

  40. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. I'm sick of people disrespecting the 2012 Craig Foster Cup win, the pinnacle of footballing achievement in this country. I regale my children with daily stories of the impenetrable defence that day led by Gerhardt and Gray, the fluidity of the attacking trio of Dugandzic, MacAllister and Williams and the sublime coaching of Aloisi. I also believe we topped ESPN's power rankings that week and Shaka Hislop devoted a whole segment discussing Redders performance in the penalty shootout. What a time to be a Heart fan.

  41. Of course we have an identity, and it is a beautiful one. We are the club of farce. If Douglas Adams wrote a book about a football club, if the Office was set in Bundoora instead of Stanford. If Monty Python had of chosen a different cup as the Holy Grail - that is us. I for one now embrace the farce, and will continue to support, if only mainly now for the blokes at the pubs and in the stands who have shared so many lows and SFA highs.

  42. I wonder if anyone else just randomly remembers some of the shit this club has done over the years and gets mad about it. Like today I was just sitting there at work and I remembered when city were trying to stamp out all red and white from the stands and they had that promo where you would bring it your heart kits and get a discount on city merch and I just thought "fuck this club! Why am I still here?!"
