  1. Im proud to be a member of a club that drew a line through a skilful player due to domestic violence. (Let Harry turn his life around and have his fifteenth chance at another club.)

  3. It's a hard one because on field he was a success, but I guess what sells it for me is that Heart (and to their credit city have continued this) seems like a morally sound club. We don't worship a wife beater or idolise thugs like muscat (not even going to mention fan behaviour) . Sure the "nice guy" attitude might have been to our detriment over the years but it makes me proud to say I'm a member of a club with strong moral fibre.

  4. Because most of us are quite fond of Ross the Boss and we don't want those memories tarnished by having him score against us. This, of course, is distinct from being upset that we aren't signing him and although many of us would love to have him back, it would not be the best utilisation of funds/visa/ marquee spot considering we have Bruno and the makeup of the remainder of our team.

  5. I have absolutely made a mistake, many. Have I ever made a mistake that bad? Absolutely not. I appreciate your point of view but I see it differently. I think sports clubs (and more or less society if you really want to get into it) have to draw the line somewhere. Violence against women, City says no (Victory say its fine as long as you score a lot of goals). I also think in this instance we must remember, it's not our mistake to forgive.

  6. I enjoyed watching Harry go about his business on the pitch as much as anyone on here, but anyone who commits domestic violence is amongst the lowest pieces of shit on earth. Do not want him back. Ever.

  7. Thought long and hard before replying as matrimonial violence and forgiving is a very sensitive topic. I remember Glenn Hoddle's decision to give Gazza another chance. A chance to establish a good character while accepting counselling to help him overcome his problems. At the time this was seen by some as a most refreshing, compassionate and understanding. It was done to help the man overcome his problems while refusing to condone the player's violent behaviour off the field. Critics warned of the danger of Gazza becoming a role model and thus reinforcing the behaviour of men who beat women. The reply was, he may become a role model for those whose behaviour is unacceptable but who recognise that they have a problem and seek help. There is an argument which states: Is there is a point where excellence and viewer appeal supersedes misbehaviour. It could be argued. Sports stars are ill-equipped to set ethical examples for others. They are in a position of public scrutiny outside of sport by default. So let them play I see sports stars are not just role models, they have a responsibility to lead people down the right path in life; lead by example and they should be held to higher standards. Some may say they are just ordinary people, as prone to making mistakes as the rest of the world. But I believe sports stars are not normal, by virtue of the extraordinary talents they possess. Like it or not, that gift of talent has to come with a sacrifice. Sports stars can and do lead society because they are celebrities and they have the power to influence young and old. Me as you may have guessed, I am old school. Sports stars are in positions of public scrutiny and are role models by default and yes they have the same character flaws as people in everyday life. But whether we tolerate those flaws is another matter entirely. Sport is a way of life. It is at the heart of our identity and therefore, whither they want to be or do not want to be, sports stars become life role models. Therefore I cannot forgive and forget.

  8. Yes, because there's never been any relationship that's continued after instances of domestic abuse, regardless of levels of severity.

  9. As an aside to these extremely relevant points, i really can't see Joyce putting up with Harry's shit tbh. It would take a dramatic shift in attitude on Harry's behalf to put himself back in the frame here.

  11. I'd like to think that we're big enough and strong enough to give someone a second chance. Have you never made a mistake? Because I have. Can we not be forgiving? IMO Harry coming back is just the kind of human appeal this club needs to show that we're more than just a "brand."

  15. Well i just gave you the three players that can cover there, and if you want to sign a 2nd CF to sit on the bench, well noone is going to want to come here on peanuts to wait for Bruno to get injured. IMO we don't have a ball carrying, goal-scoring winger in the mould of Novillo or Leroy George or even Diego Castro, and that's what I personally think our team could really benefit from attack wise. The wingers as per above all have their own strengths and attributes, but i dont think anyone in their right mind thinks they are genuine ball players. IMO the ideal forward three consists of a striker in Bruno's mould, a winger in George's mould, and then a pacy winger a la O'Halloran to clean up at the back post.

  16. Vidosic is more than capable of providing cover at CF. Sydney's CF cover was Simon last season (lol), Victory's was Atihu (again, lol), I don't think Newcastle even had one, they just shifted one of the wide guys into the centre. If you want to argue we should be getting another striker to play in a 4-4-2 that's one thing, but chucking the toys out of the pram because we don't have high level CF backup is stupid, it's not worth wasting one of your limited squad spots in this league

  17. We have 5 already Wales, O’Halloran, Florin Berenguer can play there Ramy Najjarine and Vidosic thats not a high priority heaps of cover there. Absolutely no cover for CF !

  18. Now there's a player I would welcome back in a heartbeat. I reckon Joyce could manage him better than JvS. I know why we pushed him out, but that was the easy way out and surely we could have done more to get his head in the right place. Bruno, O'Halloran, McGree, Florin and Harry N. Excitement machine. Bring it on.

  20. Him and Bart can go on Tinder double dates! That being said as much as I like JT I think positionally him and BS both play in the same spot (being the deeper "marshalling" CB). Delbridge, imo, is also similar in this respect. We need a "stopper" style CB i.e. a better Malik.

  21. IMO Dario is capable there and O'Halloran has played there before as a fill in. Najjar looks worthy of a crack to if it came to it. A defender, and perhaps a higher class winger are def priorities over a back up striker imo.

  22. I was told Harry was unrepentant over the whole event and didn't see why it was even a notable issue. Not only that but he was apparently constantly late to training and wanted a considerable pay-rise despite his behaviour. I don't have an issue with them letting him go, regardless of ability.

  26. Wazza would never play 2 up top. He very rarely played an out and out #10 who had the freedom to bludge a bid defensively. Wazza likes getting bodies behind the ball and limiting the space in our defensive half. As much as Ross and Bruno could be great together it's completely against everything Wazza has built and a number of the squad would need to be moved on as they'd be redundant in a switch of formation.
