Another great ep guys, had me in stitches! I never knew about the restrictions the FFA had put on all football fans re the use of banners and tifo's etc, the cost of a tifo shocked me a bit and its a shame that all those man hours went to waste. Its a shame we havnt seen it yet because everyone loves a good tifo. I think the rant about the FFA needs to be copied and sent to Bozza, Andy Harper, Robby Slater even into Carlos on FNR etc to much passion and truth to be ignored and 100% agreed with everything that was said. Keep it up guys4 points

This is my favourite marquee/VISA theory. Ive repeated @HeartFc's post a few times since he first mentioned it. Therefore our next marquee needs to be some Eastern European who grew up working in a Gulag and drinking Bear milk for breakfast.4 points

Socceroos fullback Aziz Behich could join Turkish giants Galatasaray in the January transfer window DAVID DAVUTOVIC January 16, 2018 6:30pm SOCCEROOS fullback Aziz Behich could join Turkish giants Galatasaray in the January transfer window. Galatasaray are understood to have tabled a $4.62 million (EURO 3 million) offer for the in-form Behich, but Turkish media is reporting that his current club Bursaspor are holding out for $6.16 million (EURO 4 million). Behich, 27, has had a breakthrough season for club and country, scoring five goals in 15 appearances for Bursa, while he flourished in the FIFA World Cup playoffs with standout performances against Syria and Honduras in place of injured Brad Smith. The former Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory player has amassed 124 games for Bursaspor in all competitions since joining in 2012. Trabzonspor are also making a late play for Behich. Galatasaray would be a dream move for Behich, who is of Turkish descent. The giants are coached by former Turkey national team coach Fatih Terim and trail local rivals Istanbul Basaksehir by one point. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/socceroos-fullback-aziz-behich-could-join-turkish-giants-galatasaray-in-the-january-transfer-window/news-story/7b6569c956c7cbf40942cdf18dda5d452 points

Yes. Cahill was just plain stupid to do what he did. He was supposed to be the A-League's pin-up boy. It's probably rather sad that absolutely no-one in FFA or the A-League has come to his rescue since his departure from City. That tells me just how far he has fallen out of favour.2 points

Good work lads. Excellent summary about how some of our players are really going (BTW Malik might look like a defender, but isn’t and its hardly his fault the last 2 gaffers played him out of position for a season). Nice summary of how are leaders at the FFA are going too. Nothing to add.1 point

You always rave on about your Cheeky Nandos... so you like at least one Franchise.1 point

Koren was that good, his release to pursue new opportunities led him to return to NK Dravograd in the Slovenian Third Division. Plenty of other marquee quality players there no doubt.1 point

Good on him for deciding to actually get in shape and be a professional this year..... Not like he shouldn't of been in shape from the start of his time here or anything....1 point

IMO Ross has to stay there’s no telling how many games it will take Bruno to get back to a full 90 minutes and without Ross or a fully firing Fornaroli we won’t score many goals at all!1 point

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for being such a moron and uploading the wrong episode. I will strive to be better. Please enjoy the sound of @thisphantomfortress being rude to me tomorrow instead. Much love, GreenSeater xx1 point

I suggested at the outset of this that he would be lucky to find a berth higher than English League 1, certainly if he plans to play regularly. And his pay at that level will be a huge shock. To put it in perspective, Ross is, bluntly, an English Championship reject. That's very harsh, and I think the guy has probably been hard done by, but nevertheless, having been in that position, he is now top scorer in the A League (discounting Bobo three goals as he should have been banned when he scored them). If Cahill expects to be hot property in the English Championship or the Scottish Premier, he has to be demonstrably better than Ross. And he clearly isn't. He just has a bigger ego. Right now, if Ross McCormack qualified for the Roos, he'd be in the squad way before Tim.1 point

Given FFA's limitations on the salary cap, and the many other counter productive restrictions associated with recruitment, squad assembly has been and continues to be very difficult (for all clubs). Unknown foreigners, career-twilight players, continually recycled squad standard players, and promising youngsters come and go each and every season, and within seasons. Notwithstanding overall results, considering all of the above, for me, you can judge success in terms of player recruitment on a number of factors; Can they fit into a winning team Are they actually a good solid consistent player, and important within the team Are they exciting to watch Do the fans like the player For the younger players, are they 1, 3 & 4 above, and will they go on to bigger and better things (i.e. success in a better league overseas and future Socceroo representation) Harking back to the Melbourne Heart days, we did quite well with the youngsters, and there was plenty to like about players such as Babalj , Good, Hamill, Aziz, Zahra, Goodwin to name a few. We certainly had our share of journey men, and a number were solid team members, but never really did more than you would expect. Players like Hoffman, Thompson, Marrone, etc. Arguable Mooy has been our most success player and continues to shine in the EPL. Our foreign spots and returning Socceroo players were generally unsuccessful, up until Bruno (and Cahill last season only). Now with players like Jako, Bort and Ross, our foreign player contingent is a strong part of the club and has improved since City took over. Also, we are just starting to see the City era youngsters break through and players like Aktinson and Arzani are as about exciting as you can get. The problem is once you find good players, its hard to hold onto them beyond 1 or 2 seasons. If the league was governed under normal FIFA rules, squads would be better all around, and we would see much improved development and opportunities for younger players across the board.1 point

I don't won't be pedantic but it's the second time you've mentioned 12 yard box. It's actually 18 yard box and penalty spot is 12 yards. Sorry for being anal. I prefer to use big box little box Fwiw.1 point

How can you say that, he is probably the best passer of the ball in the A-league and even over long distance i was watching him closely yesterday and most of his long passes found the intended player as well as the shorter passes.1 point

I was at some bar in San Miguel De Tucuman having an overpriced beer/sandwich and a Boca game was on the TV in the backround. Within about 10 minutes of watching Boca copped a goal against some team in blue and the guy who scored looked familiar... Of course it was Colazo. Continued to watch the game and he was playing like a completely different player. Confident as fuck, screaming his head off and going in hard for the ball... which he never did once at city. Got me thinking about our imports over the years and I figured out a little pattern. When you move to another country its obviously tough adjusting to the language/culture/football style however that can depend on your personality. The quiet subdued type guys like Colazo/Tadic/Koren/Budzinski seem to suffer a lot and seemly play different to how they would back home. However others have shown that their balls out attitude tends to overcome any anxiety or confidence issues that comes with a international transfer... Eg. Engelaar/Novillo/Bruno and now Bort. Conclusion being, if you're gonna sign a foreigner make sure his a bit of a cunt. Seriously. We should look into not only football ability but a blokes confidence in his day to day life. Psychologist and body language expert would be able to sort that out.1 point
