  1. There's always going to be something else on, we're in the sporting capital of the world ffs. How about focusing first and foremost creating an exciting product people want to come and see again and again?

  2. I agree with this but, and it's a big but, you can't compare a central striker in Ross and say Arzani should get a look in over him for the simple reason that they play different positions. As such Ross position should not be in jeopardy as a result unless someone of equal standing (another central striker) is deserved.

  3. This kind of thinking has to stop. A-League fans cannot keep blaming the other competitors. The A-League has had several years head start over the BBL. We cannot forever look to schedule our games when there is absolutely nothing else on at the same time. IF in fact this is the reason why attendances are down the problem is with the fans because they are the ones who are prioritising everything else over football or to see a TV ad telling them when the game is on.

  5. One of the match reports said over 1000. I'm not a very good judge of crowd sizes but I would not have guessed that many, maybe 600. Still a good size. There's no seating as it is our practice pitch, but it is a good surface so I'm sure the players didn't mind. There was a truck there selling food and drink. It was similar to going to state league game or similar. So probably the best they could do at short notice. Personally I did not mind but it would have sucked if it had rained.

  8. Funny enough I watched the game again from when Arzani came on and most of his passes hit the target which suprised me a bit as I had that same perception about him from the game.

  9. TTDIM : NBN continuing to prove why the government should stay out of the economy as much as possible. The more they interfere, the worse it gets. Surely will go down as one of the greatest case studies in the history of the world on why government needs to fuck off and let the free market do its thing.

  11. I take all the points being made about Daniel Arzani. But, by Christ, wasn't he a breath of fresh air blowing through what up to then had been a miserable showing by our so-called star-studded team?

  12. Agree and that's why it'll be interesting to see him start. But given like you say the match situation called for ultra attacking play then he can be forgiven for losing the ball at times? Anyway for a winger/number 10 I don't think his stats were too bad actually! All I want to see him do more often is when he does lose the ball to work hard to get it back which he sometimes didn't do during that game.

  13. I'd start Rossco tbh and see how he goes, although if the gaffer thinks he's not up for 90 then adjust so accordingly. Bouzanis Atkinson Bart Jako Jamo Malik Brattan Carrusca Arzani Ross Vidosic SUBS : Galekovic Muscat Budzinski Delbridge Fitzgerald Wouldnt be surprised if Delbridge starts and one of Jako or Malik is given a spell tho tbh.

  14. I really don't care about the style of play, all that matters is results, and the results haven't been there. We may be 3rd but that's because the table is a bit unusual at the moment, we're actually closer to 9th than 1st, and it wouldn't take much for us to not make finals.

  15. Tuesday night, 10pm, the best time to televise a Warren Joyce coached team. There's been enough damage done to the A-League already without exposing potential fans to our 'beautiful football'. We played WSW into form last week, we'll help Perth rediscover their mojo on Tuesday. We've won there once in 8 seasons, I can't see that changing, unfortunately.

  18. This goes against Warren Joyce's own mantra that every player (from Cahill to Atkinson) is equal, which Joyce has repeated from the start of the season to now: https://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/10/27/joyce-keeping-citys-big-names-grounded http://www.news.com.au/sport/football/a-league/whats-going-on-with-outoffavour-melbourne-city-marquee-marcin-budzinski/news-story/7eebeefe941ef0b60aafda4356db5d33 So, taking Joyce literally at his word, things of crucial importance for selection are: 1) A high level of fitness, and 2) being "absolutely flat out every day" at training, and everyone is "the same" (reputation, age, marquee status are all irrelevant). I personally think Joyce has been inconsistent with his own selection criteria (e.g. playing a not very fit McCormack, while never considering an allegedly not very fit Arzani). Also, I'd say Joyce has had his favourites this season, whose playing time has seemed unconnected to these suggested objective selection criteria. My preference is for a more pragmatic approach. Just play your best and most important players. I think that's better than stating all these criteria for selection in the media, and then maybe breaking your own rules every now and again.

  19. Dropping our top and (pretty much) our only goal scorer?

  20. The 4 players who I would imagine may miss due to short turn around are Atkinson, Jakobsen, Mccormack and vidosic Assuming everyone is fit, I'd probably give Atkinson the game off anyway and go with Bouzanis Delbridge. Schenkeveld. Jakobsen. Jamieson Malik Budzinski. Brattan Arzani. Mccormack. Vidosic Galekovic, LaRocca, Carrusca, Fitzgerald, Kilkenny

  21. Good test to see how we can back up. Expect Timmy to get some good game time in this one ... oh hold on, he left to get more game time elsewhere, didn’t he? ... by that he must mean driving the tractor at a hobby farm in Byron Bay. In all seriousness, will be interesting to see if we do attack more earnestly. Fitzy should start on the bench, Ross may need a spell so hopefully Bud gets a go and can form an understanding with Dario. Fitzy and Ross off the bench if needed.

  23. Wazza's standard fallback line when discussing players non selection is fitness. Most of the time its just to dodge the question.

  24. Finally back after two weeks off the forum. As is usually the case, this place turns into a fucking shithole when we lose. Anyway, McCormack for me last night, narrowly ahead of Arzani and Brattan. Surely Fitzy can't start next week, he's been utter dogshit since about round 5. I know he tries hard, but sometimes that just doesnt cut it and he's had near to no influence on the game for well over a month.

  25. Game will forever be known for the fact that a kid saved Wazza’s arse. Arzani gave us the Bruno style injection of fizz, swagger and momentum that’s been lacking all season. He was the reason we pulled ourselves out of a shit hole last night, an overall dire fcuking performance that can’t the ignored. It was a one man whirl wind effort that allowed us to leave the ground with a small spring in our steps. Up to half time it was as inept a performance as we’ve seen, Heart or City. Arzani must continue to be groomed as our Bruno protege. He needs to keep getting more game time. Bring on more yoof. Wazza is still a shit fcuking coach who got lucky last night.

  27. Worse. Chances are you could turn out eleven lads for Rochdale who actually wanted to play and play like they'd met each other. Neither is true of the team playing for us.
