  2. Being so popular and basically flooding the culinary restaurant market world wide has made for a lot of average Italian food experiences. Try going to a village on the outskirts of Florence or a small group of shops on the fringe of Maranello and you will see that Italians and pasta is the furthest thing from being overrated.

  3. Wasn't Martinez. He's still available. I rate Milligan higher, but would rather Troisi in our team based purely around the personnel we already have.

  4. AFAIK Manchester City paid CCM $300,000 for Caceres. He was immediately loaned back to us, thus circumventing the "no transfer fees" between A-League clubs. As a result, FFA introduced the "Caceres Rule." As I understand this at present is that any player bought from an A-League club (club X) by an associate club of another A-League club (club Y) cannot play for club Y until one full A-League season has elapsed from the original transfer from club X. Of course, because we are currently the only club with associate clubs overseas, we are the only club affected by this rule. The irony of it is that the $300,000 enabled CCM to sign a marquee player.

  7. Ljubo Milicevic Instagram on Ernie Merrick Ok so here it is!Hello Bankruptcy!Ha!I can't bullshit myself any longer,I live by the no fucks given mantra,I've never taken a backward step, ever,to anyone..I would rather die standing than live on my knees..I absolutely despise bullies, people in positions of power who pick on the vulnerable and that's why in recent weeks I've told a few stories relating to certain people because they have essentially been shit humans!Well..This guy is second to only one person I've come across in football,as the shittest, nastiest, meanest and weakest fucken humans to be involved in the game! The way he has abused his role over the years, picking on kids, friends,my team mates, telling them such things as "you will end up working in a factory"because he didn't like that this guy was a popular player with the fans..to"you're going to rot in the second team for a year" because this other guy wanted to leave due to no game time..To continually bullying all those around him and making the environment simply depressing, full of fear and self doubt! When in reality he is the fearful one..so much so that when I was in a cafe and spotted him with his wife..the time came to pay the bill, rather than pay himself he sent his wife to do his bidding because I was situated right next to the cash register and he would have had to come into contact with me!You see, he could never take me on,he always sent others into battle, his lips would tremble when he got angry and I would simply stand there thinking to myself "Who is this guy and how the fuck did I end up here"?! Don't get me started on Aaron Healy!Fuck me!How do these guys get jobs in football?I wish @newcastlejetsfc all the best but you have let the club be manipulated yet again.Jobs for the boys! When are you going to learn?!I really hoped that the club had turned a corner but no..you brought in the council guy from down the road to take the piss!Oh well,so how well did Ernie do with unlimited funds at @wellingtonphoenix ?that's right, you can't have success there,it's too hard with the travel! Ha!Fuck off!Ricky Herbert with half the cash got his team to a semi-final! THE KID WINS!FINISH HIM!FATALITY! 🙏🏾❤️🤙Ajde Jebote

  10. Because we work in a salary capped league, that isnt a major league, on the other side of the planet. That means we can attract 2 players per season on whatever we can afford, and then the the rest have to meet stringent wage caps. Our scouts play a vital role in getting those players on cheaper wages and whether they will be good enough/successful enough here is based firstly on their judgement and secondly on their development here. Its not an open market of who can we get at these $$$ because half the time players aren't interested in coming to what is probably considered a 'footballing backwater'. The marquee spots in theory should absolutely be your best players. In the last three seasons we have wasted one of those spots on relative unknown quantities (at least to this league) that haven't provided the goods. All I'm saying is given where our list is at right at this point in time I would rather get a proven star at this level than take another punt. I'd rather be guaranteed an 8/10 player than have a 50% chance of a 10/10 player with the alternative being a 6/10 (or worse in Koren's case).

  12. The amount of complaining about the Sansa rape scene in the show was ridiculous. Putting aside the stupidity of getting offended by an evil character committing an evil act in a TV show, surely a child being burned alive by their parents is a significantly worse act than rape.

  13. The way I see it, we've punted and missed on a couple of high risk high reward marquee types in Koren and Colazo (and to a degree Engelaar, seeing as he barely played), Troisi is a little less sexy than getting in a foreigner who could potentially tear the league to shreds but he's a much safer bet. We know what level he can perform at in this league, he was in the team of the season last year and was a real catalyst for the Victory's improved performances as the season went on. If he's off in a year but we win the league would it really matter?

  15. Brandan and Colazo were announced relatively late in the transfer window last season. Im confident that there will be movement on foreign players by CFG. in other news Milligan has been offered $200k more by Victory than we offered Troisi. http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/article/2017/07/24/victory-closing-milligan-marquee-offer yup it's fkn stupid. the AL desperately needs transfer fees introduced so bigger clubs in more desirable locations cant keep cannibalising small clubs without having to pay compensation. we are made out to be the bad guys when we are one of the few clubs that has actually paid for players.

  22. I would hope so one day, but I don't think CFG is allowing us to spend money on transfer fees as the return in investment is too low - we aren't making money as a club yet. They can have them, where is our lauded scouting network, only recycled names keep coming up. I want a unknown a tropical sexy South American or African footballer.........

  23. Transfer fees cannot be paid by one A-League club to another A-League club. A-League clubs can pay transfer fees to overseas clubs if they wish to.

  26. I don't think its a problem. I think its actually pretty clever. I was just responding to Thrillhouse's quote above; "we are shit......always start the season well and completely fall apart later on" ....I agree with you, its a great opportunity to develop younger players

  27. So what are the chances of Marquee player being announced this thursday with the new kit on at the unveiling?

  28. Could be wrong but I thought the rejected 3.55 million was grant money the clubs receive from FFA not the actual Salary Cap. Which seems the case according to this article. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/aleague-club-owners-set-to-reject-ffa-funding-model-20170627-gwzr49.html Just so happens that each club was receiving 2.6 million in Grant Money previously which was exactly the same as the salary cap. So I can see how Jovan may have thought they were going to increase the salary cap.

  29. Melburnians. Sounds good at least all our members will get a seat.

  30. Is that a problem? We need the opportunity to develop the youth players against men. At this point NPL2 is good enough to do this. Dropping down would expose the players to less technical more physical team (hacks). So I guess not getting relegated is a bigger priority than winning the League but ultimately its all about developing enough players to be available for senior selection. I can't see a problem with it.

  31. Very good question. I think we are guaranteed 1 quality Visa. Whether Brattan signs or extends his loan is very puzzling you'd think it would have been done earlier. My theory is and it is just a theory that we are waiting on the latest cap announcement. The clubs recently rejected the 3.55 million and want 4 million as a minimum. So maybe that extra space will be used on Brattan plus the last visa. I'll be a bit dissapointed if we start the season without using all our visa places but not overly. I have faith in what's been done so far and really look forward to this season.

  32. I'll believe the Troisi hype when he arrives not entirely sold on him, if he comes here it will be one year , then he will be off chasing his next paycheck, Is he the real # 10 we want ? happy to be proved wrong, if he does sign and performs
    1 point
  33. That sounds best case scenario which is very promising. Also missing so much soccer will leave him very vulnerable to soft tissue injuries. I can't see him being much chop until mid season maybe round 10 or so. Problem also could be that when he is ready to start playing the NPL side might be finished.

  34. You can run a day after you get your ACL torn, it's change in direction that they need to keep track of. All that he's doing now is part of re-strengthening the muscles around the ankle and increasing ankle mobility, which can be done at any speed (obviously depending on severity of tear, in Brandan's case, it being mild) either moving forward or back or even standing.

  38. The Greens boast a number of former A-League and NYL players from both the city blue and navy sides of Melbourne. Ross Archibald would be the most familiar to City fans, with the defender returning to Australia to join the NPL side, while Nick Ward, Andy Brennan, Kieran Dover and Luke Pilkington join him in Head Coach John Anastasiadis’ squad. The city blues vs the navy blues. What a derby this has become
