  2. Some points from the game today: The fact that we played almost a full strength XI really impressed me. Alot of pre season games we seem to field lots of trialists and younger players and to see Wazza field such a strong team I feel shows that he means buisness. Additionally the fact that he made his subs so late in the game, i think players are really going to have to work hard for minutes. Really liked how vocal Warren Joyce was throughout. Could hear him getting angry when players tried to do too much. "Stop showboating" directed to Luke Brattan was a highlight. Was barking instructions to players the whole game. Jakobsen with the arm band a solid choice. Extremely vocal on the pitch. Massive positive. Hope he keeps the arm band for the season. Bruno scored 5, and assisted a few. Was a lot less selfish then from last season. Did miss a few easy chances and got annoyed with himself which i liked to see him wanting more from himself. Jamo got forward well i think. Felt at times was missing the final ball however. Solid not spectacular. Hopefully just pre season rust. Genreau was very positive and watching him was a highlight for me. Looked very dangerous when taking players on and running on to balls. Souvas 10/10. Need some heart burn tablets now though. Too much garlic and onion gets me every time.

  3. Lock your car and stay within the lines. Be mindful of the parking zones and don't forget to turn off your lights.

  4. This forum is fucking aids sometimes. Look, id rather keep him, buts lets not pretend hes played anywhere near what we expected him to be when we bought him. Arguably would have been the weakest player in our best XI assuming our visas are decent. The major bonus is he frees up around 300k in the cap of the initial reports are true. Manny and Pierias are both capable at fb, particularly if we sign a quality visa cb to partner Jakobsen. Ultimately a loss, but only a modest one.

  5. It feels like a north England summer for him, if he's in shorts now then he'll be wearing a mankini by mid-summer

  6. I wouldn't say animated but he was VERY vocal. My biggest take away from this game is everyone is looking very fit, even fatten. I spoke to a staff member while I was leaving who said wazza has them working ver hard on fitness. can also confirm shorts

  8. I have never been impressed by Franjic to be honest. I expected a lot more from what the guys were saying on here before he signed.

  11. He was def was the worst element... the fact that he spent screen time with the ugly kid from This Is England made it even worse, PPL will disagree with me on here but I did not really like the Film and def not the TV series. Also up there was that shit scene of Sam cleaning up shit sequence, it felt like a bad 90s sitcom in its supposed comedic repetitiveness, it also went for bloody ever and of course it meant we had to watch another Sam scene which are always shit. The Hound's comment about "A Topknot" was not needed and def not something George R Martin would ever come up with or write in a book. Finally TBH I have to admit I am struggling a bit now that the show has gone past the book as its now Scriptwriters prioritising which parts of the story gets told and when... which is why I think last night's episode was so poor. In fact and if anything last night was the first time I had ever start to seriously think too many important characters on GOT had been killed off.

  12. I have to disagree with you. I didn't see Franjic as a good defensive fullback, just someone who was decent as an attacking one. I still think we need another fullback because Muscat isn't the answer either.

  13. Not defending Franjic but in all honesty, do you actually think we can do better? Don't think so. Defence just went from reasonable to real average now.

  15. Fuck just when we finally have our fb's sort out franjic leaves.... He was always a solid rb imo and will be missed. I wonder if their an ex adelaide rb on the market we can sign, because it seems all our players come from there hmm....

  17. Wow. Didn't see that coming. We never saw the best of him. I thought he still had plenty to offer, but hey.

  18. The reason I say this is that Joyce needs to succeed for the sake of his own career. Of course people will say the best way to do that is play experienced players. However, if there are younger players who are showing more ability, I believe with his background in youth management, he will be prepared to give the younger players a chance. What I am sure off, is that if players like Brattan don't step up to the mark, they won't be playing unlike last season.

  19. TTDIM: When I am really bored at work and read up on how the Climate Change Predictions from PPL like Al Gore and Tim Flannery turned out... because in 2006 I was apparently a Science Denier to not believe absolutely everything these two dudes (Who are not Scientists) feed to the Lefty Media. Some of them are fucken hillarous.

  22. I stood right behind Wazza and the bench last night, I can agree with comments regarding his constant communication with the players YES he was wearing shorts every kick off was greeted by Wazza commanding the players to get on the ball and win it back I was surprised that it was only at around the 30min mark that he dropped the first F bomb, must have been on his best behaviour all I can say is that there will be no passengers in the team, no one strolling around the park. Every player got a serve from Wazza at some stage( that said he was very positive when player did as requested) the first 10 mins was a hard fought tussle, we took total control after that, which was to be expected Some really nice one touches and interplay , to be expected against "lower class" opposition, how will this translate against A league Teams? Even in this environment Deano managed to make some fuckups I have a quick chat with Eugene , He will starting the next pre season match, I mentioned to him that I hope he hasn't come to us to sit on the bench. it was nice to see the lads back in action oh yes , it was good to see Jako with the arm band, no disrespect to Bruno but I reckon it will free him up to play "his game"

  24. We were discussing this in the car on the way home. It was crazy the desire they showed to win the ball from the kick off. Special mention to Oakleighs 2nd keeper, sign him up!

  33. Possibly, but as people have already mentioned, there is no incentive to develop youth, so for the purpose of percentages, a more seasoned and reliable player would get the nod before a youth player. The FFA really needs to give incentives for teams to promote youth.

  35. The salary cap is a ridiculous millstone that is restricting the potential of the game in Australia and makes the A-League a joke to other football playing countries.

  36. The signings only mean something with they can push for a first team spot in the next 3 years. Currently though with the structure of the Aleague this won't happen as clubs will continue to sign 30+ year old journeyman squadies.

  37. The change was part of the overall Salary Cap changes about one year ago. Contracted NYL Players/ Scholarship Players – Each Club can contract up to 6 under 20 Australian Players on the minimum youth salary (Contracted NYL Players) or national minimum wage (Scholarship Players). Any payments above the minimum youth salary or national minimum wage (whichever is applicable) to these Players are included in the Club’s Salary Cap; http://www.a-league.com.au/about - Salary Cap System There's no date on that page, but the changes were announced before the 2016/17 season - the "Cahill Rule" was part of those changes.
